Dear. People. kudos for the good work. i have a very pressing issue I would want an advice. I have submitted my application and undergone biometrics. I found out the hotel reservation I made via booking.com and which I used in applying for the visa has been cancelled. I tried rebooking the same hotel and couldnt because its fully booked for the dates I earier booked with. Is it advisable to now book an entirely Different hotel and send an email to the visa processing center at Sheffield explaining what happened and attaching the new reservation. or will it just complicate issues? Any other logical idea to remedy the situation will be welcomed 2. Do UK visa always call hotels to confirm reservations? I have only Got a mail that my application has been received and is being prepared for consideration by an ECO. . A quick response will be appreciated . I don't want to jeopardise my chances for visa issuance
Why is booking.com cancelling people's booking anyhow these days? Did you use a funded card for the booking? Or what was the reason for the cancellation?

Account was more than adequately funded. Even two friends in the uk used their cards to assist me book but it still cancelled afterwards. Reason is invalid credit details. Guess issue is from booking.com.

Quick One good people. My son is 2 years plus and a US passport holder. My wife and i just applied for the UK visitor visa(1st Timer). Do we need to apply for him(my son) as well or come with him to the visa appointment center on the appointment day? He is to travel with us if visa is approved.
.

No need to apply for him if he has a US passport. As a US passport holder, its visa free to enter the UK. Just include his name that he is travelling with both of you in the online application form.

Yes! You also need to fill form for him and pay application fees

This is wrong information. US passport holders travel visa free to the UK

1. Call them and explain to them why your booking was cancelled and offer to provide them with another hotel booking. If they object, best is to pray hard that they do not confirm hotel bookings

2. Yes they do. Sometimes it depends on your reason for the visa, personal circumstances and travel history. If you have a good travel history to the UK, they might not be bothered about confirming your hotel booking. Particularly if you have family and friends in the UK.

There is more stringent checks on credit/debit card info by booking.com due to fraud. If the informtion you enter as your contact details does not match that on the card. The reservation will be cancel. My take

Oga etpotek, please, is it okay to spend out of the money submitted in bank account statement after completing the Biometrics?
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by trooppper: 6:59pm On Oct 17, 2018
Chief Ekpotek, thanks for the wisdom. I submitted my docs and went for the biometrics last Wednesday (10/10). I included the FDC and a paragraph to tge sponsor's letter explaining the huge sum.

Got my ppt today. Visa was issued (15/10). Thanks a lot. I really appreciate.

ekpotek:

1. Yes
2. Yes and Yes
3. Make copies of all pages of the passport you are submitting both current and expired
4. None, expect UKVI may not keep to their stated timeline.
Your previous visa and UK travel history will count unless you are careless about your application.

Sure its your money. There is no rules that the money should sit there until a decision for a visit visa is made. What if there is an emergency or you do not get a decision within a month. However, do not deplete your account to a point that you do not have enough fund to cover the budget for your trip. The ECO is only interested in the consistency of inflow and outflow and wether it reflects your true financial circumstances.

+442034811736. Call cost £1.37 per minute. The call centre do not have any influence on ECO decision. Best they can do is advise that your withdraw your application and loss the money or offer to accept your new booking or await the ECO visa decision.

Need help on this platform..

I misplaced my passports that contain used UK visas evidencing my 3visits(3 different Visas) to the UK. It also contains other visas for South Africa and France

My question is how do I convincinly show the the VO that I am not a first timer.

Anyone with a similar experience or knows someone who had.?

Thanks you all in anticipation
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by trooppper: 9:26pm On Oct 17, 2018
Get an affidavit and police report. Explain that you lost your previous ppts. Also attach copies of the data page of the previuos ppts. You can add copies of all the pages (including the prev visas) if you have them.

Your new ppt will have your old ppt no so the ECO can verify your travel history (at least with their country).

I had this same issue and this is exactly what I did (though I did not have copies of all visas and stamps - 5 diff countries).

I will advise that everyone always scan every single page and send to their mail/google drive just in case.

Good luck.

Hello house, i must really commend all the contributions made on this thread. I used most of the guideline learnt from here to apply on my own (without using an agent) for a 5days visa application as a tourist and as a first timer but my application was refused based on the single fact that the ECO officer thinks i do not have socio economic ties as i do not have properties, dependent ( i am single) or investment to come back to.. i am employed and earn 110k after tax and pension. The only travel history i have is a visit to Dubai. I had a closing balance of 849k in my salary account and 279k in my savings account when my application was submitted. all the funds in my salary and savings accounts can be traced to my employer. The docs i submitted were

Employment letter
Confirmation letter
Salary and savings statement of account
Leave letter from the office
Company introduction letter
Cover letter
6 months payslip
Company id card
Hotel booking and flight itineary

I got back my passport on the 25th of September but i would like to confirm if its not too late to reapply with the same documents and what other possible document i can add to the reapp so i don't get refused again.

I would really appreciate a response and guide from experts in house.

Thank you.

This was the same refusal reasons I got from them when i applied. And after consulting with trusted travel agencies. I was told the bitter truth that if I decide to reapply anytime soon I will be refused again. Unless when my situation chance, like been married or buy shares, Bonds, Treasury Bills or buy lands with documents. So my advice for you is to leave the UK for now and explore countries within your reach.

The ECO must have converted your monthly salary of 110K to £321. This is less than what a cleaner or some illegal immigrants earn in a month in the UK. Clearly, your monthly pay is considered not a strong financial ties, eventhough you may have good intention.

Carry all your documents with you to the appointment. It will be collected and scanned directly to UKVI office and the document return back to you. Make sure all documents including photographs are A4 size.

Thank you ekpotek for your feedback. Could you please advise on the additional documents to present along with the stated ones that would convince the Eco officer that i am not running away from my country (lol) or how much do you think i should have as a closing balance when next i reapply. Something to give me a better chance. Thank you.

Hi Ekpotek.

I applied my UK visa but was refuse on the ground thag i did not mention how I got the fund in my fixed deposit account. Surprisingly this amount was fixed since January 2017 yet the ECo thinks the money would not be available for me.

What would your advise me to do?
How soon should I reapply?

The ECO is worried about the source of fund in your fixed deposit. Where did you get the fund from? You will need to explain this with documents vis-a-vis your monthly pay. Have you traveled ouside the country before on tourism? If you have document showing how you raise the fund for the initial fixed deposit, you can reapply. However, the ECO likely to scrutinize your previous travel history as a tourist.

Nobody knows. Probably the ECO has detected some discrepancies in his children application data and need to the daughter passport to confirm. If this is the case, his daughter’s visa maybe canceled, if not nothing to worry about.

Visit other countries to establish yourself as a genuine tourist. Invest in land properties. Then reapply next year.

To know why you were refused despite regular salary flow and reasonable balance, one needs to know the budget of the trip. I suspect that's where the suspicion of the ECO must have come from despite having a stable job and a decent salary by Nigerian standard

Any significant income and expenditure you have must be explained adequately with enough evidence, otherwise ECO will assume the worst. If you can explain that the 6.9mil fixed was earned legally eg, Land sold, shares sold, etc, then ECO will sharply grant you visa.
