position?
how good is she
She played off the wings but I think she can also play striker. Big, fast and a good finisher.

exactly.. but she has to get used to it, Ugo may not be in France next year
I don't even want to imagine that.

I just went through records of under 16 and under 20 competitions. I am wondering, why did the coach favour Ajibade over Chinwendu Ihezuo and Chinaza Uchendu? They are roughly the same age bracket, so the excuse of introducing young stars do not really hold. Chinwendu clearly was the star in 2014 under 16 and 2016 under 20 where the two featured. In these same tournaments, Chinaza Uchendu also scored more goals than Rashidat. Further, at the Wafu Championship, Chinaza tied with Rashidat but her goals were more strategic. Rashidat scored a hat-trick.,

Maybe he feels the other two have more confidence than Rashidat or there are other qualities he sees that we do not see
Rasheedat Ajibade is, at best, an average player. However, she has been hyped by tribal media houses from Yari.ba land.

Peace Efih was our best player at the U20s wonder why she didn't get a call.

Jeez. What a sexist man that co-host is undecided

"The three-time Champions League winner was asked by a record player called Martin Solveig if she knew how to "twerk".

She appeared not to appreciate being asked.

Highly understandable."

UEFA using the fact that they have a champions league to win free ballon d'or

So far, I think these players should be called up to fight for places in the 23-woman WC squad:

Alaba Jonathan (not sure if Oheriaku is better than her)
Folashade Ijamilusi
Ini Umotong
Evelyn Nwabuoku
Isabella Okoye*
Chioma Ugbogagu*
Uchechi Sunday (her 6ft frame and decent footwork should be an asset)
Ugo Njoku
Osas Igbinovia (to keep Ayinde and Chikwelu on their toes).

Obviously, the availability of both Okoye and Ugbogagu would depend on whether either player accepts to switch allegiance to Nigeria.

I beg to disagree. Ajibade has two basic things super falcons lacks ...vision and accuracy which has not been harnessed well.

Of course, I am tribal with Nigeria. I do know my place in Nigeria and it is certainly not in Yari.ba land. Ajibade is an average and selfish player period.

She has played in more world cup matches than her mates yet she remains below average.

Please remove Evelyn Nwabuoku and Alaba Jonathan. I need to see players such as Peace Efih, Grace Igboamalu, Charity Ucheibe, Tessy Biahwo, Ugochi Emenayo, Chidinma Okeke, Joy Duru and Opeyemi Sunday.

True!
Except they start preparations very early for the world cup, the fitness issue will be thoroughly exposed.

Eskilstuna United of Sweden head coach, Magnus Karlsson has stated delight with the club’s ability to snatch Super Falcons’ midfield battler, Halimat Ayinde from lower division side, Asarums IF.

Footballlive.ng gathered that Karlsson is excited that Ayinde will team up with fellow-Falcons midfielder, Ngozi Okobi in his squad, where he believes the former Delta Queens ace will bring to bear on the team her deep level of experience, speed and technique.

Karlssson revealed further that Ayinde has a one year contract with Eskilstuna till December 2019.

The coach noted too that she played a crucial role in Nigeria’s midfield alongside Okobi and Rita Chikwelu, as the Falcons won the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Ghana.

Following her outstanding performance at the competition, Ayinde was approached by the Swedish side, where she will again partner Okobi, who joined the same club in 2018.

On her part, Ayinde moved from Delta Queens of Asaba in the Nigerian Women’s Football League (NWFL) to Asarums IF in the lower division, Swedish Elitettan.

Ayinde helped her former club avoid relegation, with 22 appearances, four goals and seven assists, all of which Karlsson said motivated their move for her, as they had monitored the midfield battler for a while.

Karlsson said: “We’ve been watching Ayinde since she came to Asarum and it’s an interesting one player.

“We have seen her in a couple of matches and met her on two occasions as part of the recruitment process.

“She has good speed and good technique. She can play in multiple places but is best in an offensive role in the midfield or in the attack.”

Penalty Queen: A timeline on Tochukwu Oluehi’s last five heroics

Goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi provided the last act of the 2018 Total Women Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON) on Saturday as her penalty heroics once again proved decisive as Nigeria clinched the continental title for the ninth time.

Oluehi whose stop against Cameroon’ Gaelle Enngenamouit was crucial to Nigeria’s success in the semi-final once again saved South Africa’s fifth and last penalty of the dramatic final at the Accra Sports Stadium to seal Nigeria’s win.

The Rivers Angels vice-captain has since become the toast of millions of Nigerian football fans who were extremely pleased with not just her penalty heroics but her overall confidence, poise and panache at which she went through her task in Ghana.

Unknown to many however, Oluehi is no stranger to saving spot kicks. Ardent followers of the Nigerian Women Premier League (NWPL) must have at one time or the other witnessed a penalty saving performance from the 31-year old goalkeeper.

Here, we provide a timeline on her last five heroics – including the two at Ghana 2018 – during which she has now won three trophies.

5. September 24, 2017 (AITEO Cup quarter final)

Rivers Angels and Edo Queens were inseparable over two legs in the quarter final games of Nigeria’s Cup competition. Both teams played 0-0, first in Port Harcourt and four days later in Benin.

Oluehi then came to her team’s rescue, saving the hosts’ first two spot kicks with the third fired wide. Her team won 3-0 on penalties.

4. October 18, 2017 (AITEO Cup final)

Goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi saved two spot kicks as defending champions Rivers Angels defeated neighbours Ibom Angels 3-0 on penalties to win the AITEO Cup in Jos on Wednesday.

Both teams fought out a 1-1 draw in regulation time and just like the men’s final on Sunday, the lottery of penalties was required to decide who wins the competition for the first time under new sponsor, AITEO.

After having saved the first two, the third Ibom Angels player fired wide to seal victory for Oluehi’s team.

3. March 4, 2018 (NWFL Champions Shield)

Rivers Angels goalkeeper Oluehi Tochukwu made two saves to deny Nasarawa Amazons the chance of tasting victory just as Amazons goalkeeper denied Angels’ Chinaza Uchendu’s spot kick from going past her, keeping the scoreline at 3-3.

Uju Joseph then grabbed the opportunity to grant her team victory when she converted to give Angels a 4-3 win, crowning Edwin Okon’s ladies as Champions of the 2018 NWFL Champions Shield.

2. November 27, 2018 (AWCON semi-final)

Nigeria’s Super Falcons struggled against a physical and resilient Cameroonian side in the semi-final game in Accra. The game ended goalless after regulation and extra time setting the tone for penalty shootout.

During the spot kicks, Oluehi ‘did her thing’. Stopping Gaelle Enganamouit’s kick and closely following Ngo Mbeleck’s effort till it ricocheted off the outside of the left hand post and to safety. Those moments announced her to many who were oblivious of her exploits.

1. December 1, 2018 (AWCON final)

The real deal. After a pulsating 120 minutes, Nigeria and South Africa finished a game in a stalemate for the first time in AWCON history. The Super Falcons also lost a penalty during the regulation time through their reigning African Women’s Footballer of the Year Asisat Oshoala.

It came down to penalties again and nerves went up among Nigerians when co-captain Onome Ebi missed the first spot kick but South Africa’s Lebohang Ramalepe ballooned her team’s second kick over, with Oluehi saving the last – Linda Motlhalo’s spot kick to give Nigeria the win.

Such heroics crowned what she had quietly built as a special talent – the art of stopping spot kicks.
