Hmmm...not only stupid but it shows you how very very desperate those National Assembly law makers are in Nigeria trying so hard to get their family or themselves the US visas by all means.

To add to the already crazy situation in Nigeria what country do we see stooping so low and desperate as to have their law makers have the guts to summon a foreign diplomat before those losers because they are being refused an ordinary US visa.

Very shameful!

A lot of third world country citzens are rushing to come to thr U.S, so it’s not personal at this point. These leaders should work on fixing the country, the truth of the matter is that not everyone can travel out. This next election is very important , , people should vote for people who are actually going to change the country for better.

Huh, one will think it's personal especially when they have resulted to desperate measures to summon a foreign diplomat because the foreign country he represents does not want some Nigerians to visit their country because they have not shown real tangible reasons without a doubt to.

Anyways, when are these same law makers going to summon all those leaders in charge who have refused to pay ASUU?

I would not rush to a country that does not want me. If there is memo to deny Nigerians visas to the U.S then they should try somewhere. There are so many countries in this world . my interview is meant to hold by 5th of December then last. night I saw a text showing my interview has been rescheduled to later date of December, I checked my mail for confirmation even my husband did same too and we saw our rescheduled date but the issue is that we didn't see any other appointment date for my husband but they sent mine and that of my kids so we are just confused if my husband will still have to go for the interview alone on 5th. what is even surprising me is that the text came into the sim number I didnt fill while filling the form and I received the mail at 11pm at night which is an official working hour in Nigeria , why will the embassy send such mail at the last hour to the interview ,they even scattered all the appointment time as our interview time differs with that of my kids ,my husband date wasn't changed and we applied as family

If you don't have any genuine mission in the USA pls don't go, they are massively denying Nigeria visa hereby making huge amount of money

One day all these countries we run to will require our help, and we will provide the help to them.

[b] The National Assembly has summoned the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Stuart Symington, over the alleged high rate of visa denial of Nigerians.

The invitation was said to be at the instance of an activist, Kayode Bello, who petitioned the House over the matter.

The PUNCH had done an investigation into how many Nigerian students seeking to study in US schools were denied visas despite spending a lot of money on different fees.

Some of the fees, our correspondent learnt, were application fees, evaluation fees, courier fees, service fees, visa fees, school fees.

The fees were said to be non-refundable.

While some of the students claimed that they were denied visas because they were not married, others said they were denied because only one of their parents was their sponsor.

A parent claimed that his daughter’s interview was cut short because she asked the interviewer to speak up.

Our correspondent was further told that the embassy usually issued preprinted blue papers to those it rejected without giving a specific reason for the decision.

More than three weeks after enquiries were sent to the embassy, no response had been got by The PUNCH.

A former ambassador to the US, John Campbell had, however, told our correspondent that visas were given by consular officers on a case by case basis, adding that the refusal of many people to return home after finishing their programmes made the process difficult.

The activist, Bello, petitioned the National Assembly through a member representing the Ede and Ejigbo Federal Constituency, Prof. Mojeed Alabi, after suffering a similar fate of denial.

The summon, titled, ‘Indiscriminate denial of United States of America visa and illegal increment of exchange rate of visa fee by the American embassy’ was signed by the House Committee Chairman on Public Petitions, Uzo Azubuike.

The two-page document, dated November 27, 2018, and a copy of which was received by our correspondent, said the hearing would hold on Tuesday, December 4 at 2pm at the House of Representatives Room 429.

The House asked the ambassador to present 20 copies of his defence.

The Clerk of the House, Mr Omale Adoyi, confirmed the development to our correspondent on Monday.

He, however, said the US embassy rejected the summon.

“But we will go on with the hearing and may have to adjourn if they fail to show up,” he added.

Have you heard about Indians?

Nigerians abuse B1/B2 visas no doubt but they have nothing on the Indians.

Also, I don't understand the Nigerian-bashing going on here. Even if you get a green card, you'll always be a Nigerian. Why not try and proffer solutions instead of bashing your countrymen?

Beautyaddy:

Crazy!

Let us see how this plays out.

Nigerians are not the only ones that are denied US visas.

Nigerians are the most US visas abusers.

Fact is what the government is doing is very very wrong. You cheapen yourself when a whole house of Assembly summons a US Ambassador to explain why his country is not granting visas. I am highly embarrassed by such a move. Have a they broken any Nigerian laws?

So the National Assembly will then pass a resolution for him to take back to the US government for them to implement?

Has the current economic situation made us to also lose our senses? I am totally confused I swear.

I think what your fellow Nigerians on this thread are trying to say is that this isn't what need to be fixed. Going to the US should be a low priority for the giant of Africa for the National Assembly to intervene. There are more important issues that need to be addressed in Nigeria than getting a US visa.

Adding to that issuing a visa is a privilege and not a right. Meaning the US may even decide not to grant a visa to any Nigerian and they don't have to answer anyone given they are a sovereign nation just like Nigeria is a sovereign nation

Shame! on such government. Is the US visa Nigeria's medicine to its sick situation right now?

Should that be their main priority with the very sad and disgraceful state of Nigeria? No wonder it continues to be called a shit-hole when it's leaders are so blind and foolish to figure out why many applicants keep bombarding in doves all those foreign embassies in an attempt to run away from the disaster they are facing in Nigeria at the moment.

Like I have asked earlier which most people seems to have ignored. Have any of those law makers summon the people who have been keeping ASUU in hostage with their hard earned salaries

As we speak ASUU is still on strike and no one is holding the Nigeria government accountable to get that embarrassing disgrace solved.

You will have to wait for the next festival. That application (if any) will be for another festival 'if' your prince is doing anything.

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by hajidel: 3:10pm On Dec 04, 2018
You've made a very good observation.

dadee007:
The Laws that govern most of our lives also govern this visa application. Laws like Law of demand and supply. I don't have to be at the embassy to know what is happening or has happened.
Canada complained that Nigerians are using the B1/B2 visas granted by the US to illegally come to Canada and then seek asylum; what do you think the instruction will be like from the oga at the top? What would your reaction be if you were the American president? Would you fold your hands and do nothing?

This thread is Part 3 of a series of US visiting visas; go and read part 2 which was like 2 years ago and see the 'trend' and read this part 3 and also notice the 'trend' if you would notice any differences.

Also, try and find out from the previous thread, the number of days interval from when you apply for appointment and how long away the appointment date would be if I'm not mistaken, as of today, you cannot get an appointment date earlier than May. That is a cool six months away. What does that tell you.

I'll tell you what it tells me, it tells me that although the instruction from the top has been to ''deal with the issue'' of many B1/B2 applicants crossing over to Canada and embarrassing the US, also overstaying their visas in the US, also, people trying to leave the country possibly due to the uncertainties of the coming elections(or at least have the visas just in case), the demand has invariably inreased whereas the supply dropped.

That's why you hear stuff like they are giving old people etc. That is killing 2 birds with one stone. Old people will not cross to Canada for a better life but old people will count in the statistics that will come out from the embassy that says the refusal rate is only 45% or something like that.

Hint: If you want to apply for a US visa, just check your appointment date and if it is longer than a month away, you can try other countries till things cool down. But what do I know? I'm only here on my keyboard typing rubbish.

I called, email and wrote letters to my House of Rep member in Nigeria sometime two years ago to come and partcipate in how to move our community ( largest in the district) forward in terms of social development and infrastructure. We even proposed he recommend a date he is available and we will adjust the timetable to suit him.

The idiot was just posting and playing us. Nobody asked him for money cos we are all "well to do members " of the community trying to make the lives of our people better.

Am glad he was outsmarted in the primaries. These are the same set of lunatics summoning an ambassador over some trivial visa issues.

Na ayilala go kill all of them
