Nurses at the True vine hospital ran around and gossiped with one another in pairs, they couldn't believe that Michael had been transferred to Abuja, they all wondered what was wrong with doctor swavey, how could he transfer his long time friend without a warning or signal.





"Ruth, what am I hearing, that doctor Micheal has been transferred to Abuja and has been replaced already?" One of the nurses asked placing her hand on her waist.



"That is what I heard too, it is even good like that, I have never liked that Michael for once" she hissed.



"Don't talk like that Ruth, he might even be better than the new doctor, you never can tell" she said going about her business.




"I think they had issues that's why he was transferred" Ruth spoke up but froze as she saw the people at the door, doctor swavey and the new doctor.




"Ruth, I didn't keep you here to gossip, why Michael was transferred is none of your business, just do your work and mind your business" doctor Swavey eyed her.



"Am sorry sir, good morning sir" She said hastily.



"Keep your silly greetings to yourself, this is Doctor korede Ben, he is Yoruba but he grew up and studied in the states and he is replacing Michael" He said with a wave of hand.


"Welcome doctor, am Ruth" She said bowing down a bit.



"Welcome to the True vine hospital, Am Laura" the second nurse replied.



"Thank you, I hope we all work together to make it work" He smiled at no one in particular.


"Come Korede, let's go meet other nurses" Doctor swavey said walking away.






















"Dad, we are in trouble" Maxwell said rushing into the house.




"What is it Max?" the old man asked his unsettled son.






"Michael has been transferred to Abuja and a new doctor has replaced him, which means that all the things we did to Evelyn will soon be revealed" he said breathing heavily.





"I can't believe you are my son, I brought you this far and you are still scared, we will get to the new doctor, now get a grip on yourself and act like the man you are" He barked.




"Okay Dad, what will we do?" he asked loosing his tie a bit.




"simple, give him some money from the money we will get from Evelyn's father, or I will give him from my account, I have more than enough, it will shut him up and get him on our side" He replied quietly.



"Are you sure it will work" He asked with a look of uncertainty.




"Listen to me son, nobody in Nigeria rejects money, money has power, and it brings respect, don't worry about the doctor, I will handle his case, I don't want any stumbling block until I finish with my plan and get the money from Evelyn's father" he said as he sipped his wine quietly.




"But Dad, I heard that the doctor came back from the states, he must have made enough money there already" Max said as if trying to get his father to listen to him.



"From the states?" the old man asked in a shocking way "That's strange, I mean, hearing that someone came back from the states gives me chills, there is this feeling that comes with it, I just hope it is not what am thinking" he said caressing his beards lost in thought.

I'm wondering what makes father and son this heartless forward Eve. They might be the one that kills the matron in the orphanage home.

My thoughts exactly. I actually had a clue on who was responsible for Evelyn's predicaments with my idea of 'burned' and I wasn't disappointed.

CHAPTER 11





Ken came into the sitting room and saw Evelyn lost in thought, she had emaciated since the past 3 days she heard about the matron's death, Ken sighed, how else was he going to tell her that everything would be fine, why was she killing herself over nothing, what was even so important in children that she was suffering herself so much, he hissed and matched towards her in anger.




"What is your problem Eve?, you have refused to take anything since the day we came back from the orphanage, how many times will I tell you that everything would be fine? with or without children am still in love with you, stop punishing yourself my love, please, children will come at God's time" He said taking her hand in his.






"When is God's time Ken? I mean what did I ever do that I can't have children, I know am not barren because I have had countless of miscarriages, I have gone to doctor Micheal severally and he has also assured me severally that everything is fine with me medically, what else could be the problem?" she sniffed.





"Evelyn God does his things in his own way and at his own time, stop working yourself up, you are getting me worried" Ken said tiredly.




"What if I meet with doctor Micheal for the very last time and tell him to run a final test on me, at least to know if he will see anything?" she wiped her tears looking at Ken.




"Evelyn you have done that severally, there is nothing wrong with you, with us, we are fine, you don't need to see Michael for anything" Ken scolded her a bit.



"There is no harm in trial, it is just a harmless test" she shrugged.




"That will not be possible Eve, Micheal has been transferred and he is yet to be replaced, so for now, the office of a gynaecologist is vacant" Ken scratched his head.



"Oh my god, doctor swavey transferred Michael? but why? he was doing fine" she said.



"that is best left for swavey to answer, right now, I want to take my beautiful wife out, so go in there, dress to kill, we are going to have fun" he dragged her up.



"Ken am not in the mood for any fun" she sat back down on the sofa.




"come on Eve, don't let the thought of kids deprive you of the things you are supposed to do, don't let it weigh you down, look at yourself, you look so pale, I need my wife back" he shouted.



"Ken, why are you shouting at me?" she asked.



"go and get dressed Eve, am waiting" he replied softly.



































"Doctor Korede, heaved a sigh of relief as doctor Swavey finally released him, Mr Humphrey had been calling him while he was with swavey but he ended up ignoring his calls, he rushed into his office and redialled Mr Humphrey's number.




"Hello sir, sorry I was in a meeting when you called me, how are you doing sir?" he asked.




"Am fine Korede, how is Nigeria?" he asked



"Nigeria is fine sir"



"have you gotten settled in the True vine hospital?" he asked further



"Yes sir I was actually with the head doctor when you called me before, I heard that they want to throw a party for me here on Friday" he replied.



"Good, you have warmed into their hearts already , what of her? has she been at the hospital since you resumed?" he asked.



"No sir, I have not seen her, and I have been searching for her files but I can't find any document that shows that she is a patient here, are you sure you sent me to the right hospital sir" He breathed fast.



"Am very sure korede, that is her family hospital" He reassured him.




"Okay sir, I will be on the lookout for her, whenever she comes, I will let you know"




"Thank you Korede, take care" he ended the call.

I hope d call Dr. Korede just received from Mr. Humphrey is going to favor Evelyn

I said it that there is something suspicious about doctor Korede.

I hope Mr Humphrey will be Evelyn's saviour

CHAPTER 12





Evelyn waited for Ken to come back home, Georgia had told her that she saw him and her dad at a restaurant in town engrossed in their discussion that they didn't notice her entry and her departure, it wasn't the fact that they were having a discussion that was her problem, it was the fact that they chose to meet up at a restaurant, they could have stayed at the office or meet up at home, she checked her time the more, it wasn't until she heard the sound of Ken's car driving into the compound that she stood up.





"Welcome home Ken, how was work today?" she asked taking his briefcase from him.




"Thanks Eve, work was fine, is there food at home? am famished" he fell on the sofa loosing his tie a bit.




"I prepared your favourite" She replied.


"Wow, vegetable soup, am salivating already" he licked his dried lips.



FEW MINUTES LATER




"Ken, Georgia told me that she saw you and Dad at Jovit eatery and you were so engrossed in your discussion that you didn't even notice her presence until she greeted you" she said caressing his hairy chest.



"We were discussing about work, the project is still going on at Bayelsa state and we need more workers, so I was told to get a compilation of workers so that we can pick hardworking and smart ones from there" he replied softly.



"But you could have brought Dad home or even go over to his house or you can still stay at the office and discuss whatever project you want than staying at an eatery" she increased the intensity on his chest.



"Come on Evelyn, work related issues can be discussed anywhere, provided the environment is serene and conducive for such discussion" he caressed her hand.



"Ken, Dad is stressing you a lot and I don't like it" she rolled her eyes immediately.


"Evelyn, I have told you before, how I handle the projects given to me now will show how I will handle mine tomorrow, who knows, your Dad might get impressed with my hardwork and give me the new branch we are setting up at Yenegoua" he smiled softly.



"Even at that Ken, the work is stressing you, it is taking your time, you don't even have time for me anymore" she hissed.



"What if I tell you that am leaving for Bayelsa state first thing tomorrow morning, what will you do?" he chuckled on seeing the expression on her face.



"Don't even try it, in fact am calling Dad, he should send another person, you have a wife for crying out loud, you no longer spend time with me" she fished her phone out and tried to call her father.



"Stop it Evelyn, do you know if Dad is testing my patience, maybe he wants to give me the new branch, just calm down and let's how it goes, put your phone down" he said as he held her hand.




"Alright, I will miss you Ken" she hugged him


"Am already missing you Evelyn" he hugged her tight.



























"Good morning doctor swavey" Korede greeted as he stepped into his office.



"Morning Korede, what brought you to my office? please sit" he gestured to an empty seat.



"I came to find out about something from you" Korede replied taking a seat.



"yes go ahead"



"Are all the files in my office the complete files of doctor Micheal's patients" He blurted out.



"Yes, I hope there is no problem?"



"No problem at all doctor, I just wanted to know if there is any other place he keeps files" he completed.



"Am not sure about that, but I will call him and find out, any other thing you would like to know?" he asked looking up from his computer.


"No, nothing else" he shook his head showing a sign of negativity.


"I will call Micheal"


"Alright then, I will be in my office" He said leaving the office.

The suspense is killing, pls come and update ma'am

CHAPTER 13






Maxwell was with his family when his phone rung, he checked the caller ID and found out that it was "Michael" his younger brother calling him, he excused himself from Angela and the kids and entered into the room to pick up the call.




"Hello bro, how is it going over there" he asked as soon as he answered.



"Everything is going on fine, what of your family?" Michael asked.



"They are all fine, am with them right now and Angela can't get enough of me" he smiled, he was madly in love with his wife.




"What is happening at the True vine hospital? doctor swavey called me few minutes ago and was asking suspicious questions" he asked breathing heavily.



"Nothing much, they have gotten your replacement, one Yoruba dude like that" he rolled his eyes.



"I think he is sniffing around the office and in one way or the other he wants to get a hold of Evelyn's file" he muttered.




"How?, I mean what do you mean?" Maxwell asked sitting down fully on the bed, he was getting interested in the call.




"Doctor Swavey called me and was asking me if there is any other place I keep my patient's files, every other person's file is there apart from Evelyn's, I know that doctor swavey can't just ask such questions without the new doctor telling him anything" he concluded.




"But wait, where is Evelyn's file, did you leave it behind?" Maxwell asked raising his eyebrow.



"Am not stupid bro, I took her file along with me, it is here with me in Abuja, no matter how hard they search, they won't find it" he said out of breath.




"So, there is nothing to worry about then" Maxwell asked heaving a sigh of relief, they were safe after all.




"Am not comfortable with the new doctor and his questions, don't feel too relax, watch him closely and make sure he doesn't do anything to jeopardise our hard work" He muttered softly.



"Alright bro, I have heard what you said, when I travel back to port-Harcourt, I will tell Dad all you said" Maxwell replied standing up, he needed to head back to the sitting room before Angela gets uncomfortable with his absence.




















Korede drove into pick smile super market, since he came back to Nigeria he had not gotten anything for himself, he wheeled the cart to the pay point when he saw her, she was looking through the beverage section, Korede turned back with the cart and followed behind. she was just the way Mr Humphrey had described her, beautiful, elegant and had a chocolate coloured skin. she was beautiful, he smiled, but the smile faded when he remembered her plight, her childless state, Mr Humphrey had told him to help her out, but how was he going to help someone that didn't even know him?





"Keep the balance Becky" he heard her calm but deep voice.

He noticed that she had paid for the things she bought and was heading out within the time he zoned out, he rushed up with his payment and even left his balance too for the same Becky, getting to know her house was more important than any stupid Balance.


He trailed her car all the way from the supermarket down to her house without been noticed, he pulled up in front of a gigantic building and watched as she drove inside, her house was big and beautiful, just that same moment, he placed a call to Mr Humphrey.




"good afternoon sir" he greeted


"How are you doing korede?" he asked


"I am fine sir, I have finally seen her, am currently parked in front of her house" he smiled widely.
