Op is right though,
Bullying is wrong, it doesn't matter how the person reacts. Whether he/she laughs it off. Doesn't take it seriously. Takes it seriously, it's all immaterial
All that matters is that what the bully is doing is wrong. And the bully needs to stop, and people need to stop hiding bullying under it's just "trolling"
When the person doesn't find your "trolling" funny it turns to bullying.

That said, I don't consider personal views no matter how much I do not agree to them as bullying. The things, sometimes or most times said are reality, the problem is usually the generalization, choice of words or plain hypocrisy. E.g, I have noticed that, if I say "most Naija girls are gold diggers", I will get thousands of likes, accolades and encouragement. If I say something similar about guys, na insult go follow am.

If you start following someone upandan, with mentions and insults...that I can call bullying.

Let me say, he is trying to be one. Maybe if he had pulled his stunts on me two or three years ago when I was bullied on this forum for two years until a mod intervened, I would have considered him a bully. He jumps on my mentions to insult, criticize and condemn ,sometimes I wonder if he waits to see my post before logging in to attack. grin

Romance section guys are naturally bullies, An ex once told me Guys control this section but I disagreed when we broke up, I got the bitter taste of it. It was as if I dated the whole romance section kids.It was horrible!
There is a way mature and intelligent people counter opinions but for the kids here it's only violence, reason you hardly see meaningful and healthy conversations happening here. To me it is bully, its like shutting a person up. The emotional ones may never be able to air their opinion ever again.

In as much as we all try to believe words don't get to us, like Divay22 typed these words subconsciously gets into our minds. I'm a living witness but I thank God for my life sha. I love the woman I've become, strong, kind, sensitive and full of love. grin

But I must say it wasn't easy ooo. It took Grace and Love. It wasn't easy at all.

He couldn't even reply some mentions. The next we heard was that he took poison and died! Sad enough, his death news made front page. It was so hard to believe that some members still went to his last thread to insult him, even in death!

Nairaland may be a faceless forum but you don't know who's watching. I know two guys here on this forum who became millionaires through the people they met here on nairaland. You will hardly see the guys in Romance section .

There have been cases of users who deactivated their accounts due to the way other users bullied them. Do you know the emotional trauma they went through before they took the step to deactivate their accounts? Let's stop cyber bullying. It does no good. We're passing a wrong message to the foreigners on this forum. There's an arm-stretch difference between this forum, Quora and Reddit. Even the Indians on Quora are so damn intelligent with their comments.

A lady cheated on you or jilted you and you're here on nairaland to unleash the aggression on ladies who are not even aware of your relationship issue. You think bashing them online will solve your offline problem? Why don't you just change the kind of ladies you roll with and live a happy life? The same thing goes to the ladies too. No one will give you an award for the "Best Men Basher Of The year". Let's take it gently with the men too.

I believe most of us read the news of the 9 years old girl who committed suicide because she was bullied. We don't want another suicide case again from any nairalander. The most popular slang here in Nigeria is "ONE LOVE', but WHERE'S THE LOVE?

In as much as u made a good point, I think you choose what you read. Nairaland is a reflection of society, there'll always be mean ones but it's up to you which message you accept. If someone says you are mad and you believe it, then it's the truth. We hold the key to our own perception and happiness.
