Hello house good evening. I have been following this page on nairaland as a guest but today I decided to register so I can ask my questions.

Firstly, i have written the ielts exam three times but I haven't been able to score up to 7 in writing. However, i am not giving up and i hope to try again.

But the situation is different this time around, I got a student visa into the US in August and i am currently doing my second masters program.

My first masters degree was in Nigeria and that was what I wanted to use for the Express entry before ielts became a stumbling block.

I am currently enjoying study in the US but this Canadian PR is a dream and i am planning to write the ielts here early next year and apply from here.

Can I apply for the PR as an international student using my first masters degree?
Also, I heard you are given one year from the date of your PR to arrive in Canada and from observation it takes around 6-12 months to get your PR. That's approximately 2 years which is the same duration for my current program. In addition, there are a number of schools in Canada offering my program, so i believe i can get admission and transfer after my PR.

Secondly, i worked about 2 years before my first msc, it was supposed to be an unpaid internship but my employer ended up paying me some money monthly to cover the cost of my transportation. With that, my work experience will be three years but without it, it will be one year and 6 months. Is it safe to include it as part of my experience?

Your certificate is valid from the date it was awarded. Not year of graduation. What date is on your certificate?
Does this mean work experience before the date on your certificate will not count? I graduated 2014 and I have been working since I graduated but my certificate was awarded 2015.

It shouldn’t, if you have necessary documents to back this up

Okay, thank you.
This may sound funny. Please apart from appointment letter and recommendation letter, what other documents do i need to submit to prove I worked somewhere or i am working somewhere?

Dear House,

Is there a recommended format for reference letter? I would be forever grateful if anyone who has gotten PPR could share the format he or she used; a sample letter will surely be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

if memory serves me correctly you would need a transcript and certificate from your uni in US, since you can only get that when you finish i would say wait till your in the final 6 months of your masters completion, before you write IELTS, you would also need to get a PCC for US, and i heard getting police clearance from the FBI isnt beans, heard it takes a while, so realistically you would need to apply after your masters is done if you plan on using your second degree.

my advice would be to practice your writing skills and then write the IELTS exam, if you get decent scores then use your masters in Nigeria to enter the pool. thats what i feel sha, maybe the elders in the house can shed more light

Thank you dear friend, I really appreciate. I have seen the format. But can I avoid mentioning IRCC in the letter? Must I address it?

Well, in my own case, the three Ref letter I used, I addressed it to 'To Whom it may concern'....
So I think it's safe to say yes, you can avoid addressing it to IRCC..

Someone helped with my process so I might not be able to state the exact amount but this is the process as summarised by the person that assisted me:

Process and Requirements

1)Visit NECO office in Illupeju, Lagos. Go with a photocopy of your NECO Certificate and possibly the WES academic Request form (I don't think this form is necessary but I gave a completed form to the person that assisted me)
2)You will be given a remita account number to make a deposit of about N1,500 in a selected bank
3)Then you would be required to pay another N20,000 plus (Not sure exactly what the breakdown is for but it includes Courier to WES, Postage to Minna and NECO Scratch card).
4) NECO will first send the information to Minna (their head office), afterwards forward the transcript to WES

Please ensure that they inscribe your WES Reference number on the envelope and also get the tracking number for the courier.

Many thanks for the detailed info. You are so kind.

Thanks dear. So on the left-top side, I can just put only the date and then start my salutation with "To whom it may concern", right?

Thanks dear for your swift response.
Please in the case of IQAS where you have to attach a form from their website to the transcript.. How does one go about it?

I am asking for my sister who studied Law and needs to evaluate with IQAS to get the professional degree ECA.

Wes will only choose the award date on certificate and not the date you completed the program. Your school won’t change the date of award either. A simple LOE will suffice. This is a common problem, nothing major.

Hi people,

I paid for my Wes evaluation and had my unversity send my transcripts and certificate directly to Wes. The recent update from Wes is that they have sent My credential to my institution for verification. I am worried because what I can see as my year of graduation in my Wes profile is 2016 and not 2015 but my certificate clearly states that I graduated in July 2015 and was awarded degree in April 2016 as most Nigerian university morally issue certificate a year after graduation and this is really affecting my year of work experience needed for my CRS point. I need am advice on how to resolve this please.

Hello seniors in the house. Please I have a question concerning my credential evaluation with WES. I completed evaluation of my first degree and ACCA certificate in February 2018. At this time, my final secondary school result was not required.

I completed my MBA this December and I intend to evaluate with WES but I was required to send my NECO transcript. My question is;

Can I use other evaluating body to evaluate my MBA or must it be WES because I used WES for my other certificates?

I'm asking because I'm trying to avoid the stress and cost of going to NECO to lobby for my transcript to be sent to WES.

I will appreciate your kind and prompt response.

Thanks.

Thanks I have seen it! One more thing, please. CIC says we should include job status if the letter is for our current job. What does job status mean in this context?

simple, first payment was in cash.an LOE would suffice for it.moreso,d reference letter is a mandatory requirement, paystubs n bank statement arent.i do not think it is even necessary to provide bank statement showing all d payments even if u opt to include a bank statement.just few payments should be enough

Thanks a lot. I appreciate your timely response

Hello,

Can I exclude work experience which is not relevant to my application or can I include it without providing a reference letter?

Are you pre-ITA or post-ITA?
Pre-ITA = Don't include it in your profile. When you get ITA, you'll put it in personal history.
Post-ITA = If you already included it in your EE profile, move the details out of your work history to your personal history

You may not need to send your SSCE in my opinion and based on my personal experience with WES. Read my reply to similar question in the last two page. Though I'm no expert in WES.
