Hello motor Guru/everyone,

I use a Honda 2006 model. I’ve been having this constant issues with car overheating when I switch on the AC. However, it is every important to note that I’ve done everything possible to to rectify this anomaly. Basically, all necessary cooling stuffs are working. The fan is working perfect (2 fans), I’ve had the radiator washed out (which is a double cell radiator).. But the car overheats while the Ac is On still. It sometimes goes off while in motion.. I’ve to switch off the AC and after a minute or two, car picks off.

Highlight

1) Car overheating inspites having the fan working perfect, double cell radiator watched out recently, and as well as radiator coolant. It’s important to note that the fan Belt is working perfect.

2) When the AC is on, if the car doesn’t overheat in motion, it sometimes goes off abruptly. Until I switch off the AC and wait for few minutes before it picks up.

I’ve spent lot of money on trial and error mechanics but not sure what the exact cause might be. I’m considering changing the Fuel pump but I don’t wanna waste money since the exact cause isn’t identified yet.

Kindly help cause the weather is hot and need 24/7 AC while driving. Thanks in advance...

You can also recommend a very good auto clinic here in Ibadan.

Sorry for the inconvenience sir.

Please kindly anser the following questions:
Has the fan circuit ever been modified to run directly?
Has the airflow of the fan operation been checked? When operating, it should suck in air e.g. putting a piece of paper in-front of the condenser/radiator should stick when the fans are running
Has your ac condenser been checked to ensure it is working fine(e.g the fins clear)? Or has the condenser been changed before?
Has the engine been worked on before?
Is your AC compressor pump working normally(not binding)?

Has your radiator been bled properly( i.e. no air in the system)?

You can check the moniker Gazzuzz on the forum. He should be able to recommend a mechanic for you in Ibadan

Thank you sir for your inquiry.

It is a lot more popular for the following reasons:

Easier to run and maintain. Almost any mechanic apprentice can work on it.
Cheaper engine and transmission ( if there is ever any need for a replacement)
Cheaper parts and very readily available in most markets across Nigeria
AC system more robust unlike the 09 model which uses the VDC compressor type. AC parts are also very cheap and easy to repair
I could go on and on.

But please note that the 09 model is also very reliable in its own right.

Please, I need your good advice in this issue with my SUV. I drive a Lexus RX300 2002 model and whenever I fill my fuel tank, the car will refuse to start except I press the accelerator repeatedly when starting it before it will start. I have changed the fuel pump and serviced the nozzles but the problem persists. Kindly assist.

You may first have to scan your car for codes, but most likely you have a problem with your car's EVAP system. When your tank is filled up, a large amount of fuel vapor was being forced into the intake system, causing a massive rich condition. In turn, this will prevent the car from starting immediately.

Check your Evap system purge valve.

Good day Sir, God bless for the good work you are doing here, I want to know between Toyota Yaris 2010 and Corolla 07, which would you recommend for a first timer in terms of maintenance, fuel economy, etc

Thank you sir for your kind words.
Both are very good cars., but they do not belong in the same category.
The Yaris is smaller in size and engine capacity. It is more fuel efficient.

But the Corolla is more comfortable.
I would go for the Corolla.

I need a very good AC engineer to fix my 2009 corolla AC issues. It leaks after 2-3 weeks. I have repaired compressor like twice now. Pls, recommend. Also, a good mechanic that can help me fix steering column noise issue. I keep hearing noise from the steering while on rough road.

You have a leak in your AC system. You can contact Mobus or Gazzuzz on this forum.

Your steering intermediate shaft has some clearance. It is a spline shaft system. You can contact Gazzuz on this forum. it is an easy fix.

Signs of gear trouble.

When last did you perform a gear oil change?

Please , in correction to my earlier post, It is very likely you have a steering rack failure due to worn gear teeth. You may need to replace the steering rack assembly.

Hi MotorGuru

I drive a 2007 Toyota Solara. I observed that the tyre pressure monitoring system light is always on (not blinking), just on.

I then gauged and pumped my tyres (45 for each tyre) and the light still stays on. I’ve tried resetting, it didn’t work.

What do I do?

It is very likely the TPMS sensor (it is with the valve) is missing of damaged.

Only a high end scanner can tell you this. or alternatively dismantle each tire and inspect the valves on each.

45 is too high for your car.. Check the driver door jam for the appropriate tire pressure

Good job you are doing motorguru, God bless you.
please help, I have inspected my radiator both when heated after driving and when cold early in the morning there is no sign of leakage. I will fill the radiator and the overflow tank to the appropriate marks before driving to the office but the next morning I always discover that;
1, the level of water in the radiator has gone low.
2, the level of water in the overflow tank has risen above normal at times to the brim.
I sense the temperature guage usually goes above normal quickly but doesn't get to overheating range and I have changed the radiator cap twice. pls help me out, it's a 92 Civic but clean.

Your car manufacturer states 30psi cold air pressure. Is your ABS light on?
