Hotstepper:
I wish I can like the ur comment 1 million times.

This ur write up confirms what I have been talking about since . This month a dr can charge say 1000 nd next month it is 3k, thus have more than enough money.

Please people if u have no cash to pay at ones, please remain in Nigeria so u do not spoil the show for others who can confortably afford it.

As you said, unless u have a place to stay nd feed for free, other provinces are very costly

you can find other places for scan way cheaper than in the hospital, pls pls don't run scan sessions in the hospitals very expensive, this is for the lady saying over 1k for scan

Iamajoyfulmothe:
Does this apply to using a midwife at a hospital? Not for home birth.
I am a first time mother considering using midwife at a hospital as I have heard Fantastic reviews about the midwives in Canada. I've been told they are more patient, dedicate more time and are highly experienced. Hence I am considering this option as the thought of labour scares me to be honest. I need all the patience and care I can.get

I wouldn't consider any form of home birth though. So what d you think? Is using a midwife at a hospital also considered an abuse of Canadian visa? Please note that I don't mind the extra cost of possibly switching to a doctor at the hospital should things get complicated.

Follow the advice given: get a doctor, esp for you a first timer.

I have over emphaized all these u outlined but agents in Naija will tell them opposite, take money from them nd they come to give me headache..lol I will not try it again this year ooo so u guys will hold ur agents responsible. Yea, I am an agent but i do not advertise so that ppl can make their choices and it does not prevent me from answering questions here and advise.

Incase u ppl do not know cuz of ppl who said they r too busy to read the thread thus making moi that is dishing the info with research as a free person. below is my weekly schedule.

1. I wake up Monday to Friday at 6am to make work and school lunch for the kids. We leave at 7:15 latest to enable me drop them off at their before school program for 7:30 since I have to be at work at 9. I finish work at 5pm nd must leave immediately to enable me reach at their after school programs by 6 latest. they attend different schools....1 is at all french school the other in english until grade one she moves over .

2. We get home 6:30 nd then I have to cook dinner, after eating dinner, we do homework nd then bedtime . After everyrhing, i do some things around the house like folding laundry from the weekend nd responding to u guys questions, emails etc

3. Saturdays na house work, laundry nd kids diff programs like basketball, swimming etc.

4. Sundays na Church, usually do my daughters hair on this day, cook for the week etc.

I want to us the medium to thank hotstepper for the clear up.
We that live in Canada and try to get accommodation for our pregnant mums find it tiring at times cos anytime we tell them how much accommodation is and how much they should budget for their trip, they make it seem something else and most times doubt lol.
Pls note that accommodation in Canada is NOT cheap,it is more expensive than in the US,also when you are making your conversion don't fail to note the CAD is lesser that the USD,so how can accomodation even be close in price?,also our utility bills and tax is way higher than what you get in the US also, finding a room for 1k including utility is regarded is indeed a favour ,you should budget 1k-1,700 depends on the kind of rooms,if it's a private suite or just a room with a bed.
Information is key and I like that it's dished out here constantly, pls let us take our time to read, read, read.
Thank you hotstepper for also throwing light on our doctors, doctors here don't really care if you pay cash or not,at the end of the day they get paid by the government lol, sometime in 2017,doctors protested for being overpaid ,they insist PSWs, RPNs and so on should have a raise.
Also pls note it is very difficult to accept women from 28weeks,it's is difficult begging these doctors and giving all sorts of excuse which we know are even lies,it is stressful, you mist also be referred by a family doctor, you can't skip that at all.
The kids part is a very serious issue, pls note that if you are coming with your kids, hubby, mum or anyone else,be prepared to pay an extra fee,no landlord will accept crowd in his house and pay all the utility, how now? or you can get an hotel room if possible.
If you are with kids alone pls make arrangements for nanny services(pls note that it is NOT cheap in this country,so pls reconsider or you may be lucky to find a free Nigerian grandma who won't mind taking a little token, cos when you go into labour and you take ur kids with you, there are chances your kids will be taken from you as you aren't for to take care of them (may this never happen in Jesus's name).
Pls note, any agent that charges 7,000 or less for accommodation, omugwo, transportation, airport pick up drop off isn't telling you the truth, pls budget from 7,500$-$12,000,things may come up,you may spend an extra day in the hospital and this also depends on the doc you find and how much he charges, including the hospital charge.
Thank you ladies.

I for one believe agents who say as it is,some say 7,500 and above, except does below these prices are telling u only doc fee,i know some people use agents cos they don't want to stress themselves, but pls go with agents that tell u reasonable prices,
Wow ur schedule is tight ooo,u still have time to help with info,God bless you

Why all these long epistles about agent this agent that? Can we just leave agents and move forward? Did anyone force any ADULT to use an agent? People will still use agents till infinity, even if we all talk from now till thy kingdom come. it's their choice, and if they encounter any hurdle along the line, they should cross it. I like the way this thread is moving forward now, thanks to all contributors kiss

Yes thanks. I discovered another clinic charging 500$ which is still high but fairer sha. Note that this is diagnostic scan not the one that some of the private tech places/companies offer just for pleasure of seeing d baby n pictures of d baby.
I'm still looking out for other offers.

Winnipeg. Routine scan. The doctor's practice doesn't have one. I may not need it but I want to know my options if necessary.

Hi @all.. please I need advice, sister is pregnant and would like to have her baby in Canada, I think shes 2months or so. She just graduated from the uni, fresh passport, not yet married.. what's her chance of getting a visa if her fiance is going to sponsor?

I've gone through the thread but noticed most people here have either been to the US or have good personal bank statements.

Please help. Thank yku

Her husband can sponsor her. Nobody can guarantee you visa. If she qualifies with her supporting documents, she will get it.

Hi @hotstepper n ALL, please I need comments on this budget which I have drawn from infos here and on the net. Part of me feel like it can be reduced or adjusted. Please those with experience can tell where to cut down on as it looks high. Also comment on anything missing. Thanks.

Please Note: this is not to scare anyone as it’s best to be prepared than surprised.

Thanks for your reply, I am not looking for a guarantee for her visa.. the main concern is her marital status "shes not married yet" and never traveled out of the country .. in this case what can be the supporting document please

I wanted to comment before but I had to check myself. Why go all the way to Canada and use a mid wife?
It's not worth it in my opinion. Just like someone that had C-section for first birth and said you want v- bac, when you don't have insurance. What if complications come up?
The money you don't want to spend is what you will spend.

Ask your Dr to direct you to a reasonable priced place.
My would have cost me 300cad but my Dr saved me that cost. As he said I don't need it.

Hello Hotstepper!

Thanks for all your contributions on this thread.it has been of great help.
I arrived in Canada in December and had my baby in January.
I have started the documentation process for the birth certificate.
Meanwhile, is it compulsory to get an emergency travel certificate from the Nigerian high Commission when I can get Visa on Arrival.
Just to clarify this because someone told me it will be requested at the airport.
I cannot afford to stay extra one week after I get my baby's passport.

Please advice.
Thank you.

So we had that challenge however we were able to get 3 doctors to give a partial acceptance, send their bill via email but only one was willing to give an appointment date.

Hello @clans could you please help with contact details of the doctors in Ontario who gave you partial acceptance

It's better to declare and be sincere to avoid any future casala smiley, hence the need to explicit state it in your application; if not stated better declare your intention and let them ask necessary questions which are basic.

Good morning everyone, i am trying to submit the IMM5257e ,i am unable to validate it as the system ask i fill the name and address of institution or person i will visit, i do not have a doctor or hospital, base on info i gathered here, i was told to apply for the VISA first before i can look for a doctor, can i just pick up a random hospital address online and put it there in the form ?
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by purplerain1: 10:54am On Jan 23, 2019
If you intend to pick a random hospital, pls also search doctors affiliated with the hospital, then make sure u end up in that city even though you eventually change doctors.
My opinion.
