I can relate with this though. I believe there is a certain decision a man would want to make and then he realizes that he can't do this alone. There will always be room for consultation. No man wants to make a decision that won't augur well with the parents. Irrespective of how strong he is, it will affect him psychologically. Imagine he settles down with you against the wish of the parents, how would he feel knowing you're not accepted by those that forms his inner most circle.

So many things affects the judgement of a man. I like your decision though, as long as it works for you.
