Jehovah's witnesses and the resurrection of Jesus

"The Watchtower organization says that Jesus did not rise from the dead in the same body he died in. Instead, it says that He rose as a spirit creature and that the material body of Jesus was taken away by God the Father. Therefore, they deny the physical resurrection of Christ. Is this important? Most definitely!"

The Jehovah's Witnesses and the Resurrection of Jesus
by Matt Slick

The Watchtower organization says that Jesus did not rise from the dead in the same body he died in (You Can Live Forever on Paradise Earth, pp. 143-44). Instead, it says that He rose as a spirit creature and that the material body of Jesus was taken away by God the Father. Therefore, they deny the physical resurrection of Christ. Is this important? Most definitely!

1 Cor. 15:14 says, "If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain." In other words, if Jesus did not rise from the dead, then Christianity is a waste of time; and we are then still dead in our sins. It is obvious that the doctrine of the resurrection of Jesus is a vital and essential element of Christianity but what of the Jehovah's Witnesses? Are they accurate in their assessment of Jesus' resurrection in denying the bodily resurrection but affirming a "spiritual" resurrection? The answer is a definite, "No."

It is obvious from Jesus' own words in John 2:19-21 that He would raise Himself from the dead:

"Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." 20 The Jews therefore said, "It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?" 21 But He was speaking of the temple of His body."

John 2:19-21 is a clear prophecy of Christ. Note that He said He would raise up "this temple." John the apostle clarifies for us that "this temple" was actually Jesus' physical body. Therefore, Jesus' physical body was raised from the dead. Very simple. However, the Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe Jesus' own words here.

JWs never taught that "the material body of Jesus was taken away by God the Father"

** Distortion of facts.

I dey wait for your answer to the Jamb questions.. in my previous post.

Give proof that Jesus resurrected himself, "I WILL raise it up" is the same as saying " I will travel abroad"
But both spoken actions are futuristic terms , until it comes to pass( be fulfilled).
Christ was still alive when he said "I will raise it up..."
Where's your proof that he actually raised himself from the dead?

In order to help you see the error of the Watchtower position and aid you in refuting their arguments, I've compiled the following list of arguments used by the Jehovah's Witnesses to support their position.

1. They use 1 Pet. 3:18 where it says that Christ was "put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit" as an attempt to show that Jesus was not raised physically but as a kind of spirit creature.

Their use of the scripture to support their position is incorrect because this verse does not say that He was raised a spirit creature. It says that He was "made alive in the spirit." What does that mean? Quite simply, it means that Jesus was raised in an imperishable body. This is what 1 Cor. 15:35-45 says when it refers to the body as being sown perishable, but raised imperishable; sown in dishonour and raised in glory; sown a natural body and raised a spiritual body, etc. Jesus was the "Last Adam" - a life-giving spirit. Paul is typifying the resurrection body. In this passage Paul is talking about the resurrection of all people. All Christians will be raised in physical bodies. It is said the same of Jesus.

The animal sacrifices the Israelites made for atonement of sins was never taken back.

Jesus sacrificed his perfect body, an offering as atonement for our sins "once for all", he NEVER took back his body/ flesh.

OLAADEGBU, How many times have you demanded for refund of the offering or financial sacrifices you made in your Deeper Life church?

Yet you expected Jesus to take back his perfect body he sacrificed as eternal offering for our sins !

2. The Bible says that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor. 15:44-50). Therefore, Jesus' physical body could not be raised lest it contradict this verse.

What the Jehovah's Witnesses miss is that after His resurrection Jesus said, "Touch me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have," (Luke 24:39). You must note that Jesus did not say, "flesh and blood." He said, "flesh and bones." This is because Jesus' blood was shed on the cross. The life is in the blood, and it is the blood that cleanses from sin: "For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul," (Lev. 17:11). See also, Gen. 9:4; Deut. 12:23; and John 6:53-54. Jesus was pointing out that He was different. He had a body but not a body of flesh and blood. It was flesh and bones.
Re: Jehovah's Witnesses And The Resurrection Of Jesus by Nobody: 3:48pm On Mar 02, 2019
Hmmm if you ask me i think there shouldn't be any dispute on this matter!
The Bible clearly says that part of resurrected ones will go to heaven to live there forever, and the same Bible declares that flesh and blood can't do that. Therefore for those that have the heavenly hope must be raised up as SPIRIT persons to go and meet the Lord Jesus in the sky. I think this is what some christians meant by rapture!
On the other hand, the Bible also said there are those that will live forever on earth and of course these ones will be resurrected in the FLESH as they're going to bear children!
So Jesus' resurrection raises hope for these two folds, therefore if you say Jesus was resurrected 'in the flesh' it gives hope to those who will live forever in the flesh on the earth. And if you say Jesus was resurrected in spirit form it gives hope to those going to live with him in heaven as spirits.
Please my people, is there anything worth arguing in that? I think what really matters is that Jesus died and was resurrected on the third day so all those who believe in him are hopeful of a resurrection either in the FLESH or in the SPIRIT! undecided

3. The Jehovah's Witnesses teach that Jesus manifested different physical forms in order to convince the disciples that He had been raised.
This is faulty for several reasons. First, it would mean that Jesus was tricking His disciples into believing that His body had been raised when it hadn't. Second, it disregards the clear teaching of Jesus Himself who said His very body would be raised. He said in John 2:19-21, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." 20Then the Jews said, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?" 21But He was speaking of the temple of His body." Jesus said that His body would be raised. The Jehovah's Witnesses clearly deny Jesus' very words. Fourth, 1 Tim. 2:5 says, "For there is one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus." Jesus is said to be a man--in present-tense language. If He was not raised physically, then how could he be a man? He could not be.

Explain the bold, IF THE LIFE OF ANY FLESH is in the blood, How could your Jesus not have Blood ? Are you saying Jesus possess a dead stinking flesh ? For it says " the life of that flesh is in BLOOD "

So if Jesus body lacks blood, preacher, That flesh is clearly not living but dead. really?

Care to explain cheesy

When talking about intolerance, this is an act depicting what the CIA marked as censored!
Surely all religious organizations do have one thing or another written as tenets of their religion. For anyone to come on social media like this and posting contents of this nature is tantamount to intolerance!
This could mean 'don't welcome JWs into your homes, they're coming to teach heresy'. When i started welcoming JWs for a free home Bible study,i remembered something of this nature occurred, some so called christians who have known me in the neighbourhood for close to 30 months came telling me all sort of things against JWs. So i tactfully asked one of them {an elderly man} 'Sir before i started inviting the JWs,where do you suppose would have been my final destination?' he responded 'since you don't know Christ{as he often see me taking Henneikens in a nearby joint} you will end up in hellfire' then i asked 'why haven't you approached me since then?' his response 'i don't know you could be interested in Christ'
So it is the JWs that helped to show my interest in spiritual things, now baba can now come forward to say 'don't welcome JWs into your homes, they're coming to teach heresy' whereas baba never made any move,he was expecting to see me been tormented inside hellfire. I just told him 'Sir if you've gotten anything better, just let me know because i do ask them questions and are you also ready to answer my questions?' After a while he stopped responding to my greetings all BECAUSE I KEEP ATTENDING TO JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES!
Well that is simply intolerance! If you've gotten something better to say,i'll advise you go and meet your neighbours who know you and your conduct in the neighbourhood, they'll learn a lot about the Christlike way of life from you both theoretically and practically. But posting all these on social media only shows how intolerant you're towards those practicing other religions around you!

"Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself: handle Me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see Me have" (Luke 24:39).

Jesus Spirit never died and so could not be resurrected. The disciples thought that He was a spirit but Jesus refuted that thought by showing them the scars of the nails that had pierced His hands and feet and even ate part of a fish and honeycomb in their presence. Therefore, they could no longer doubt the reality of His bodily resurrection nor did they ever doubt it thereafter like your organisation does.

4. Jesus manifested different bodies after the resurrection--the same way the angels took human form in the Old Testament in order to show the disciples that He had been raised.

Again, this contradicts what Jesus said in John 2:19-21 that He would raise Himself from the dead . . . physically. Also, Jesus is not an angel contrary to what the Jehovah's Witnesses believe. Jesus was God in flesh (John 8:58; John 1:1,14; Col. 2:9; Phil. 2:5-8).

The Jehovah's Witnesses teach that Jesus did not rise from the dead in the same body He died in. This is a dangerous doctrine that contradicts the Bible and condemns those who believe it to eternal destruction because it is denying His physical resurrection which is the proof that He conquered death. The Jehovah's Witnesses need to keep Jesus' own words in mind when He said, "Destroy this temple and in three days, I will raise it up." (John 2:19). Since He was speaking of His body says John in verse 21, then it must be true; Jesus rose from the dead in the same body He died in. Also, at His ascension people watched Him rise to be with the Father. They saw His body ascend. That is why it can be said that Jesus, the man, is the mediator between God and man. (1 Tim. 2:5). It isn't an angel or a spirit creature that is the mediator. It is Jesus the man.

Thanks Sir, i'm not interested in your Gospel if you can shy away from the public allegation a JW{Tatime} levelled against your founder.
There shouldn't have been any Gospel in the first place if all those first century pioneers of the Gospel are running away from interesting questions that's good enough to lead people into distinguishing a real servant of God from greedy opportunists and backstabbers who just want to make money from the ignorance of their own people!
Your coming on social media to discredit the JWs and their teachings is futile because many people out there who are hungry for spiritual food are welcoming them into their homes, so all this your effort is wasted Sir!

Loving Intolerance of Jesus.
You and these your cartoons! How come these cartoons do address all questions but you're shying away?
Now i'm beginning to see reasons with Tatime, Pastor Kumuyi has wasted the lives of so many people by gathering them for nothing other than enriching himself. I believe that you and other deeperlife members would have been competent defenders of the Bible if he has given his members the opportunity to develop teaching skills, instead of monopolizing the whole arrangement by telling all of you to either listen to his preaching or watch him on satellite. Just see yourself, nothing tangible to say than posting cartoons!
Well as i have said,i'm still maintaining my stand that your cartoon Gospel makes no sense to me so please keep it to yourself or better still to members of your church who can't defend their faith in the public as your church founder gave them no chances to develop teaching skills!

It's good you notice that Maximus, Kumuyi has rendered all of them useless to the point they even depend only on his cartoons to defend themselves! Yet this one is asking about witnessing to Jehovah's Witnesses who are skilled, full competent and completely equipped ministers of the good news! Keep enjoying the show after all "by their fruit you will recognise those men"
OLAADEGBU is an excellent replica of what Kumuyi turned all deeperlife members to, only Kumuyi can stand to defend his beliefs all his followers must depend on either him or his cartoons to speak for them! Awon Oponu Olodo dede! cheesy cheesy cheesy

Hmmm, That is really obvious Sir! He only used cartoons instead of addressing questions. It's a pity they so much believe Pastor Kumuyi that whatever he teaches them is final.
But come to think of it,isn't that what himself and his none denominational folks are kicking against? He is saying JWs shouldn't see things through the lenses of their GB,yet he could SEE nothing than what Pastor Kumuyi uploaded in his medular oblagata! embarassed
I keep wondering what allegations he is levelling against JWs if deeperlife members strictly depend ONLY on Pastor Kumuyi's talks and that of his cartoons to speak for them! undecided

Compare the above highlighted with your statement below :

OLAADEGBU .
Jesus was pointing out that He was different. He had a body but not a body of flesh and blood . It was flesh and bones.

Can you see you are Just a Brain - washed human ?

When he made the statement at John 2:19 and when he died . The body was Flesh and Blood

When he was raised - You replied its a different body, one without Blood .

And you still went ahead to say he Rise from dead in the SAME body he died In ?

grin grin this thread is a useless thread. U see ?

Lying Pharisee, Mary Magdalene "turned around and saw Jesus standing there but she did not realise that it was Jesus" Jn20:14
Why did she "not realise it was Jesus"?

1)It was not the original body Jesus had before his death.
2)She saw Jesus being impaled, bruises and nail marks on his body ( Jn19:25).but the resurrected Jesus that appeared to her had no nail marks on his body,so "she did not.realise it was Jesus" ( Jn20:14).

Every spirit being(angel) Jehovah sent from heaven to the earth had to put on human form ,Jesus Christ
is no exception.
Jesus confessed that he was Jehovah's messenger .
"Jesus answered:.'my teaching is not my own. It comes from Him who sent me"-Jn7:16
"The Father who sent me commanded me what to say"
Jn12:49
(that's another hard knock for "Jesus is God" fraud. Any "God" wey dey obey command and go message for Jehovah no fit be true God at all! )
Jesus confessions proves he is indeed an angelic spirit sent by Jehovah.

Jesus was never specific his physical body will resurrect.
His body was a ransom sacrifice for our sins which replaced animal sacrifices of old testament.
"the sacrifice of the body of Jesus once for all" Hebrew10:10
No Israelites took back his animal sacrifice,Jesus never took back his perfect body sacrifice.

Olaadegbu's conjecture the holy scriptures disproves.
** "It is sown a natural body it is raised a spiritual body.
If there is a natural body there is also a spiritual body... the last Adam (Jesus) became a life giving spirit"
1cor15:44,45
***Because "Jesus was put to death in the fleshly realm and made alive in the spiritual realm" 1pet3:18

"the God of Abraham Isaac and Jakob .....raised Jesus up from the dead of which fact we are witnesses
".Acts3:13-15

Apostle Peter himself was an eye witness of Jesus resurrection ,he has spoken!

Lying Pharisee Olaadegbu does not believe Jesus " ransom sacrifice for all men"1tim2:6
He only misquotes verse 5which he twists & distorts
