Pastor David checked the time it was few minutes to 10pm. He turned around and went straight home. He got home took a shower and lay on his bed. Thinking why he was going through all this stress because of Ademide who was actually rude to him and of course she didn’t respect him one bit.
He remembered he saw the chief accountant when he was about leaving the church. He was the one who informed him that Ademide was still in her office trying to prepare her documentation. It was then he realized he shouldn’t have told her to come to his office by 8am, although he said so
to get back at her but he never thought that his instructions will make her stay late at the office working. Reason why he decided to stay behind to take her home since her family members had left.
And of course Ademide rejected his offer to give her a ride home. And to crown it all she picked a stranger over him. She went with the guy instead of him.
He closed his eyes to pray and he had God’s speak.
“That is your wife” Said the still voice.
“God if I don’t recognize your voice, I would have thought otherwise so I know it’s not the devil talking to me. I would have rebuked him”
“I said that is your wife” He repeated.
“God, this is a joke right!”
“You know I don’t joke with my words”
“I’m sorry I said that. I was just trying to be sure of what I heard”
“You heard right. Ademide is your wife”
“My God! You even spell it out. That girl hates me and you know”
“Son the rest is left to you”
“I doubt if I can handle her all alone” Pastor David said.
“Why not, you are a man”
“Ehm, she even slapped that guy, are you sure she’s a good wife material?”
“I am the merciful God and I’m also a consuming fire at the same time”
“Yes I know you are the Lamb and also the Lion of the tribe of Judah but that doesn’t mean a Christian should go around slapping people?”
“I’m just saying you can’t judge her based on that. I was there, the guy called her a prostitute”
“Then you should thank me for rescuing her”
“ I actually wanted that guy for myself, so I orchestrated everything”
“Really!”
“Yes. Son, you must personally help me disciple him. He’s a vessel I already set aside to use”
“Yes Father. I will do my best”
“One more thing he will fall in love with her”
“Better! I don’t want her for a wife. She doesn’t respect or regard me”
“Better? You will never find a better help meet. Note, I didn’t say you won’t find a good one but that’s the perfect one for you”
“Huh”
“It’s like you’ve forgotten I search the heart. You love her”
“Well...I realized that that this night. But I can’t marry her. She also hate me”
“She will never loose a thing, if she eventually marry the other guy and as for you that is the best thing that can ever happen to you”
“As it is, you even love Ademide more than me” David said sounding jealous.
“I love both of you but she’s special to me. So many notorious sinners are coming into the kingdom through her”
“Just like what happened this night?” He asked.
“Yes” God replied in his still voice.
“God” He called out.
“Speak” He replied.
“That your special girl won’t go easy on me”
“I know”
“So make her love me”
“You know nothing”
“Then tell”
“I won’t, find out yourself”
“I said it, you love her more” He said, sounding jealous.
“I won’t do for you what you can do for yourself. Good night”
“God!”
“By the way the name of the guy is Adewole”
“Seriously! Adewole versus Ademide. They are both ‘Ade' I’m sure that your special girl will fall for that. Because that’s her family name as well.
“If you allow it my son. Peace!” The voice seized and the room was normal again.
He stood up pacing up and down the room.
“What kind of competition is this for God sake” Pastor David said in his mind. “I thought I was so special until today. Imagine Ademide had two options why I have one” he said to himself.
He went to bed but finding it very hard to sleep. He was wondering why the best woman he could ever have for a wife doesn’t like her one bit. He determined not to be strict with her again. His PA was actually right, he won’t be able to win her over if he doesn’t go easy on her.

CHAPTER 13
Ademide ate and showered. She laid on her bed quietly while Adeola laid beside her.
“Is this how you’ll be coming home late every time we have evening service?”
“I guess so. All thanks to your Pastor”
“Which of the Pastors?'
“Your Pastor David of course”
“You’ve started again abi”
“See, I know you will take his side, just let me sleep. I have to be in his office by 8am”
“I’m your sister and I’m not taking sides. You know I’m with you on all issues except this. Who hates his Pastor for crying out loud” Said Adeola.
“Ok, let me tell you what went down today” Ademide said.
“I’m listening” She said and Ademide narrated every thing that happened.
“So you followed a stranger home instead of your Pastor!”
“I did that intentionally”
“To make him feel bad for keeping you late at work! I think your plan worked because he had to follow you all the way home to ensure you are safe”
“I didn’t send him, he did that on his own account”
Adeola's phone rang. Ademide was closer to the phone so she helped her pick it from the bed side table and was about to pass it to her. “Who’s calling? Adeola asked her.
She checked the caller ID, it displayed D1. “It’s Egbon (big brother) she replied and handed the phone to Adeola.
“D1!” She said as she picked the call.
“What’s up. Is she back, her number is not reachable?' Adedayo asked.
“She’s back, she came in around 10 and guess what? she and Pastor David had another issue”
“Again!” Adedayo exclaimed.
“I’m here remember” Ademide cut in.
“I know you are. Infact I’ll put the phone on speaker. So you can hear the whole conversation loud and clear” Adeola said and put the phone on speaker.
“Ade…..mide” Adedayo called out stressing her name.
“Just leave me alone o and you” she said pointing to Adeola. “Can’t you do all this behind my back”
“Do what, let’s call a spade a spade stop disrespecting a man of God”
“It’s ok sisters. Adeola just let her be. I think I understand her” Adedayo said.
“Good, if you understand me, then allow me quit the job”
“Get yourself another job first, then you can quit. That’s all I have to say. Good night sisters”
“Good night” They both chorused even though Ademide was grumbling underneath.
“Adeola, I sent you a picture on WhatsApp” Adedayo said.
“Ok. I’ll put on my data once I end the call”
“What picture is that?” Ademide asked.
“I thought you are grumbling, my friend stay in your lane” Adedayo replied her sarcastically and ended the call.
“Ehn en….he disconnected abi, he will soon ask me to come over and help him cook” Ademide said with her hands folded on her chest.
“Is that a threat, as if he can’t cook by himself. Just listen to what we are all telling you and change” Adeola advised.
“You are the only sister I have for God sake, since when did you stop rooting for me” Ademide said soberly.
“Since the day you turned yourself into something you are not” She shot at her.
“Is there not a reason for that!”
“Then tell me the reason” Adeola demanded.
“You know what, good night” Ademide said and laid down backing her sister.
“Good night to you too” she hissed feigning anger as she backed her too. But deep down Adeola’s heart she was worried for her sister who just turned from a cheerful person to a snob anytime she hears the name Pastor David.

*****
The next day, she made sure she left the house early. After the family morning devotion she started her chores quickly but Adeola told her to leave the chores for her. “Just go and take your bath, so you won’t be late for the meeting you have with the Pastor this morning” she said, Ademide thanked her. She took her bath, dressed up and left. Luckily for her, her mum who was leaving the house same time with her. She gave Ademide a ride and drop her off at the bus stop where she took a public transport to her own place of work since they are not going in the same direction.
Mrs Adetula do not want to be partial if not she would have given the car to one of her daughters to use at least some of their mates who are from wealthy homes or who have fat paying job has there own car. She wished herself and her husband could avoid that kind of luxuries. All she could pray that God will open doors of opportunities to her daughters too just like he did for Adedayo the first child who is really doing well for himself. His personal house is already on construction and she believed before the house is completed, God would have provided him his own wife.
Ademide got to her place of work. She went straight to her office to pick the documentation file she prepared the previous night. She checked the time before leaving the office it was 10 minutes to 8am. She left her office for Pastor David’s office. She greeted the secretary who just walked into the office warmly and she also replied her with the same gesture.
“I have an appointment with Pastor David” She said.
“I know that already, our new documentation officer” she teased.
Ademide smiled. “Hope you are enjoying your post in the account department'
“I’m trying to” she shrugged.
“You can have your sit” She said.
Ademide was about to take a sit when Pastor David’s walked in with his PA. Ademide sat down watching him as he and the PA exchanged greetings with the secretary. They noticed are presence and greeted her. The two went into the office.
“He will soon call you in” Bunmi said to Ademide.
“I will be right back, I need to be in my office right now” Ademide said.
“Are you feeling ok or you are pressed you can use the bathroom here” She asked with a concern look since she got here so early she wonders what could make her leave again.
“No I’m fine, please tell him I’ll be back”
“Ok, I’ll tell him”
Ademide left and went back to her office. She dumped the file she was holding on the table. “Ademide why did you leave. You even came to work early for this meeting” she asked herself and sat down swirling her chair.

Pastor David picked the telephone and called his secretary after his PA left. “Tell her to come in”
“She just left”
“She did what!”
“She said she needs….. and the line went off before she could complete her statement.
“God, did you hear that?” Pastor David said.
No response.
Bunmi still held the telephone wondering if Pastor David actually hung up on here, what he had never done before. “Why did he not like this Ademide. If he didn’t like her, why then did he give her a job? At least the lady said she’s coming back” She was still thinking out loud when she saw her boss outside.
“Sir….
“I’m coming” He said and left.
“What’s going on, first he hung up on me and now he’s going out without informing me his secretary” she said.

Account Department
“Good morning sir”
“Good morning sir”
Everyone he met on his way were greeting him here and there. He didn’t stop walking, he responded to all the greetings while walking along the corridor of the offices. He got to the front door of her office and opened without even knocking.
Ademide was shocked at first, since she wasn’t expecting anyone and didn’t hear a knock.
“Did your church members know that you are this rude?”
“Who exactly do you think you are Ademide?”
“Stop calling me that” she warned.
“You want me to be formal with you then be formal with me. Why did you leave?”
“You came all the way here to ask me that?”
“Ade… she gave him a look that stopped him from calling her name.
“You made me ran into the hands of a stranger last night. That made me furious when I saw you this morning and I left. After all, the meeting was even supposed to hold by 10am this morning before you use your veto power on me”
“Who’s fault was….
“And you think she’ll like you this way! Continue arguing with her” God’s voice interrupted him. He quickly get the message.
“Go on I’m listening, was it my fault I left work late or was it my fault that I declined your offer and still you refused to leave and…..
“I’m sorry!”
Ademide was surprised he could apologize to her. “I said I’m truly sorry and that was the reason why I waited for you last night. I even made sure you got home safely.
“Oh! Damage control”
“Really!” He almost raised his voice but controlled it.
“See, just let me go. Sack me or something, we don’t get along don’t you see”
“You are going nowhere. For Christ sake I just apologized what else do you want me to do” he said calmly and for the first time Ademide chilled and gave him a pitiful look. She knew she was frustrating him.
“It’s ok, you are forgiven at least we won a soul last night” she said. Her phone rang, she checked the caller ID and smiled.
“Talking about the soul we won, here he is, calling” she said smiling.
“You gave a stranger your phone number?” he said sounding like a jealous lover.
“Point of correction, a new convert and how does that even affect you” she said looking at him strangely. She then picked the call.
