As part of the package for a retired chief justice, a house will be built for him in Abuja with a nine-digit sum for furnishing — in addition to a severance gratuity that is 300% of his annual basic salary of N3,363,972.50, as well as pension for life. The real national and economic parasite, just like former governors and other high profile public officials, they rake in corrupt money, loot and steal and still walk into the sunset with the Nigerian taxpayers funding their expensive lifestyle forever. This is the main reason why we spend 75% of our budgets on recurrent expenditure and less than 25% on 200 million Nigerians, this is why there's never any money left for roads, bridges, hospitals, potable water to drink, electricity and so on, nearly every kobo stays and gets consumed in Abuja by the various arms of government, national and state political elites. This is why we must always borrow to fund basic infrastructures. This is on top of paying hundreds of lawmakers the highest legislative salaries and benefits in the world while in office and until they die, also why we budget hundreds of billions for task duplicating agencies and parastatals doing the same thing ministries are doing or should be doing, consultants hiring as back door looting channels by public officials and so on. We are not going anywhere developmentally until we get rid of these worthless overheads and economic parasites holding us back. Public service in Nigeria is a get rich for life scam and scheme, this is why public office is a do or die affair in Nigeria. Sorry to say, Nigeria is not going anywhere, not in our lifetime. 22 Likes 3 Shares |

What he should have done long time ago instead was grandstanding to the jubilation of politicians. Elections are over now and no more political battles to fight using his case as a moral burden, baba don realize he's on his own in this sh1t I hope he gets a soft-landing though but definitely not a seat on the National Council of State. yns4real: 2 Likes |

Its now a recurring decimal; whoever our people from the other side of the Niger support will be destroyed at last, and that's because they always stubbornly choose to line behind a person that's already heading for destruction! 6 Likes |

This case just shows the importance of coming out clean always. Onnoghen has been touted to be someone who sells justice to the highest bidder since 1993 when he was a high court judge in cross river state. Abacha almost sacked him but for the tact of those like him that were at the helm of affairs in the NJC back then. While I believe this was a witch-hunt , the evidences brought forward against him by the EFCC were also clear and incontrovertible. The man had to choose his belly once again by resigning and shaming all supporters of corruption. There are still many more like him in the judiciary that are still going to be fished out. 11 Likes 1 Share |
