Eating of meat on good Friday,is not a sin
In d olden days, they abstain from meat cos it was expensive to afford but these days every single family both d rich n d poor can afford to buy meat,so d church in her wisdom decided that on good Friday, Catholics should abstain from there favorite meal in other to observe good Friday

So what would they say about those eating meat during dis period??

In the past meat was seen as a worthy sacrifice as it was linked with feasts and celebrations.

In ancient cultures meat was seen as a delicacy and "the fattened calf" wasn't slaughtered unless there was something to celebrate.

Fridays were seen as a day of penance so eating meat on a Friday to "celebrate" the death of Jesus didn't sit well with the Church.

The meat that you should not eat is not actually restricted to the goat or cow or fowl flesh but anything that gives you joy and that you can't do without on a normal day is your meat eg beer, women, games ,outing, shopping.

As for is it in the bible?the bible was written by the Catholic chruch in phase for hundreds of years.

It's a form of discipline like fasting and abstinence practiced seasonally.

Because in that same Bible after the ascension of Christ and the coming down of the Holy Spirit, non Jewish converts in Asia Minor met on the first day of the week..which is Sunday..don't take my word for it, read Acts 20:7.

crunchyg:

Vulture is not different from other meats that people eat, that you don't eat it doesn't mean there are not people that eat it in other countries, the way there are people that eat monkey meat, snake, dog etc. Read my post well and you will see that the fasting part you ask doesn't relate to what I said

I still do not see how catholics are different from orumila or sango idol worshipers, most of their doctrines are clear idolatry contradicting the Bible.

It's because you have been fed lies all along. Have you taken time to ask reasonable questions from the Church itself and not what one child of hate spewed?

Prove it.

Lent was instituted by nimrod's (or baal's) mother semiramis(or Ishtar). It was designated a forty day period to mark the anniversary of Tammuz's death... Tammuz was killed by wild pig.
Eating of meat was avoided in order to mourn his death

Well, the truth actually is,
the Bible we all know today will ensure we remain devoted Christians.
If they should release the whole holy books, we all might drop religion totally.
That's what happens when you know more than you can contain.

It has nothing to do with goat blood transfusion.
We avoid meat today in honor and commemoration of the death of Christ 2000 years ago.

Given that Christ died today, the Church observes today as a sad day and goes further to make every member feel the impact by encouraging them to avoid meat today.

While it's not written in the Bible, it's one of those key steps the Church uses to draw her members closer to God.

This has nothing to do with the flesh. Even Jesus himself fasted for 40 days. Fasting and abstinence is a key part of the Christian experience

Use your sense, lent was never instituted by baal worshippers, even if it was, hope you know Christians wanted to kill off the whole idol celebration, thereby replacing "THE BIRTH OF SON GOD" OF 25TH December with "THE BIRTH OF THE SON OF GOD" same date.
This is how they also replaced the supposed lent of the baals with that of Christians (lent is a Latin word which means a period of mourning, and that's why they never changed the name. take note).
For the meat part, i already said it, meat is a sign of celebration during the acient days, and as we all know, it is mockery to celebrate on the day we all mourn for the death of Christ hence no meat. Stop making comments on what you don't understand.

I am a staunch Catholic. During the early days, the people were asked to fast on what they loved to eat.It was a command by God.So,in those days, meat was the people's favourite dish. They fasted without meat and the doctrine continued to our present generation.

1st John 2:27
As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.

Exactly. There are other books that were recently added to the Bible. They are called the deuterocanonical books. Google it.
I'd the catholic church decided to compile all the books it has stored in the library over ages, the Bible will be so voluminous.

what he is trying to tell you is that the Bible is an incomplete book, we have hundreds of books in the Vatican, kept out of the public.
If these books are released to mere humans like us, i bet you, you would drop Religion the next minute,
the Popes compiled the set of books of which they know would ensure we remain devoted Christians. Some of the catholic doctrines you see today are in other books of which are kept out of the public, They know more than we do, they see this world from a different dimension.

What's it significant? Are there any curses or consequences if one disobey?

Change your topic because it is misleading. Many Catholics eat meat and fish even on good Friday
