In the past meat was seen as a worthy sacrifice as it was linked with feasts and celebrations. In ancient cultures meat was seen as a delicacy and "the fattened calf" wasn't slaughtered unless there was something to celebrate. Fridays were seen as a day of penance so eating meat on a Friday to "celebrate" the death of Jesus didn't sit well with the Church. 1 Like |

You mean the book of genesis, exodus, leviticus, numbers and deutronomy that was written by moses was written by Catholics? Or the psalms of David by David himself? Or the book of Joshua? Matthew wrote the first book in the new testament..mark, luke and John also wrote theirs...Paul wrote letters to those in colossus, philipi, thesalonica, ephesus..John wrote the revelation...pray tell! Which of them was a Roman Catholic devotee? Bloody ignorant liars! 1 Like |

OpenYourEyes1: Then you make Christianity a religion of the book. Christianity is about Jesus and not just about a book. Go and study well, the organised book we call Bible now wasn't ther e in the time of the apostles |

OpenYourEyes1:if you are a pentecostal Christian and bringing the bible as ur defense tool against the originator of the complete bible itself, then you will have a flawed argument. You have in good authority an incomplete book and as such incomplete knowledge of the faith you even practice. Non of your Daddy GOs castigate the Catholic Church because they know where they all originated from, and the scam (personal doctrine) they propagate. 4 Likes |

lomprico: Lent was instituted by nimrod's (or baal's) mother semiramis(or Ishtar). It was designated a forty day period to mark the anniversary of Tammuz's death... Tammuz was killed by wild pig. Eating of meat was avoided in order to mourn his death |

jayson87: It has nothing to do with goat blood transfusion. We avoid meat today in honor and commemoration of the death of Christ 2000 years ago. Given that Christ died today, the Church observes today as a sad day and goes further to make every member feel the impact by encouraging them to avoid meat today. While it's not written in the Bible, it's one of those key steps the Church uses to draw her members closer to God. 1 Like |

OpenYourEyes1: Use your sense, lent was never instituted by baal worshippers, even if it was, hope you know Christians wanted to kill off the whole idol celebration, thereby replacing "THE BIRTH OF SON GOD" OF 25TH December with "THE BIRTH OF THE SON OF GOD" same date. This is how they also replaced the supposed lent of the baals with that of Christians (lent is a Latin word which means a period of mourning, and that's why they never changed the name. take note). For the meat part, i already said it, meat is a sign of celebration during the acient days, and as we all know, it is mockery to celebrate on the day we all mourn for the death of Christ hence no meat. Stop making comments on what you don't understand. 2 Likes |

I am a staunch Catholic. During the early days, the people were asked to fast on what they loved to eat.It was a command by God.So,in those days, meat was the people's favourite dish. They fasted without meat and the doctrine continued to our present generation. 2 Likes |

VcStunner:1st John 2:27 As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him. Also calling some set of humans the originator of the bible means giving glory to man for God's work, whatever way you want to put it. |

Elvis778: Exactly. There are other books that were recently added to the Bible. They are called the deuterocanonical books. Google it. I'd the catholic church decided to compile all the books it has stored in the library over ages, the Bible will be so voluminous. 2 Likes |

Castroii:what he is trying to tell you is that the Bible is an incomplete book, we have hundreds of books in the Vatican, kept out of the public. If these books are released to mere humans like us, i bet you, you would drop Religion the next minute, the Popes compiled the set of books of which they know would ensure we remain devoted Christians. Some of the catholic doctrines you see today are in other books of which are kept out of the public, They know more than we do, they see this world from a different dimension. 4 Likes |
