"AMINADOKIARI" I AM LOOKING FOR MY BROTHER: Ndoki people trace their migration from the ancient Benin Kingdom. The people from records appear to have set out from Benin at the same time with Ibani ancestors but lost them on the way. The Ndoki came looking for the Ibani and some Ijaws at the river inquired of their mission. The response of the early Ndoki migrants was that they were searching for their brother. This in their original dialect means Aminadokiari oral tradition states that the Europeans found the word difficult to pronounce adulterated it to Ndoki. Till date, they are known as Ndoki people. Alagoa (1972: 178) corroborated this when he wrote thus: The tradition suggest that they migrated north and east-wards from the Central Delta along with the ancestors of the Ibani to their present location where they were affected by Ibo cultural influences. The early Ndoki migrants in search of their Ibani brother passed enroute of Imo River, an estuary of Bonny River (Rio Real) to their present location, settling first at Obunku. On the other hand Alagoa E. J. (1976.337) stated that: "The Ibani (Bonnny) say their ancestor came from Central Delta through Ibo hinterland. After a period of sojoum in Ndoki territory, they came down the Imo River through Andoni country Coaster State ". These two accounts of the migration of the Ndoki and Ibani suggest that the time was when both sojourned together. Armoury Talbot (1967:160) affirmed thus: "Indeed, it is now settled and well beyond argument that the people of Bonny came originally from Ndoki ethnic group." Ndoki is also situated in the tropical rain forest of Nigeria. It must be noted that the southern most part ofNdoki has mixed features of both rain forest and fresh water swamp (Nwabara 1983:10). Located in the tropics, the temperature is very high between 750F and 800F. Two known seasons can be identified, the rainy season which starts from April to October and the dry season which begins from late November and lasts till mid March. Ndoki land covers about eighty square kilometers. The soil is very fertile with a rich plant and animal life. What is the economic implication of this geographical location? This we shall consider presently. Culled from: Impact of Colonial Rule on ThePre-colonial Ndoki Economy (1840-960) Follow us on Facebook: www./Ndokinmanmanu Instagram.com/ndokinmanmanu 2 Likes

What I could never understand about all these people who claim that Igboid groups like Ikwerre and Nfoki migrated from Bini is why did they drop their Bini names and language for Igbo? Even if they lost their language, why would the take on Igbo names? 3 Likes 1 Share |

Osagyefo98:You're a failure in all you do and will continue as such. Your plans in causing division among Igbos has failed already as your antics have been known. Ndokinmanmanu:Ndoki people are proudly Igbos. One of their sons was a former Senate President namely Adolfus Wabara. The politics of Rivers State is so dirty that a lot of make ups have to be used in public. The day oil will become of little influence is the day all those make ups will fade away. I've been to Ukwa East on two occasions and can boldly say that they have no identity problem. The relationship Igbo and Ijaw can be strengthened through groups that have shared history of both sides from time immemorial and this would be found among these sub groups. Ndoki, Bonny/Opobo, Kalabari and Okrika. These groups can help the Igbo and Ijaw find a unity that will see us free ourselves from the grip of the evil contraption. Let's stop having a dogfight while our main enemies feed fat from the resources. A word is enough for the wise. 5 Likes |

pazienza: I've always expected you to deliver in threads as this, and you didn't fail this time. Ijaws, like i've always stated, are nothing more than a conglomeration of people from diverse and varying ethnic backgrounds whose only true connection is the fact that they live by water. Present day Ijaws have Yorubas, Igbos, Ibibios, Efiks. Edos, Urhobos and Izon. Soon Ikwerres will be asked to join. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

joeprince23: I have always agreed to what is true but anything coming from pazienza is a blatant lie and a camouflage whose main intention is to deceive unsuspecting audience. A message conveyed by the. Elders is nothing short of truth because we can't claim to know more than them... The elders knows more than stereotype or written history. Reads thus It was indeed an historic moment filled with boundless joys and fulfilment as been expressed by their Majesties reuniting the Ndoki Clan to their Ijaw Root. Ndoki no matter geographical settings they are, blongss to and are Ijaws.. They are not and never igbos... That's the simple message, I don't know what u guys are arguing. 4 Likes 1 Share |

joeprince23: There are people who speak Izon and they are found in parts of Bayelsa and Delta states. This to me are the pure Ijaw stock. The rest are merely affiliates. Sincerely it's becoming a joke when Omoyele Sowore from Yoruba and Adolphus Wabara from Igbo are referred to as Ijaws. I'm patiently waiting on what motives are for this new ijaw drive. But if they are able to pull off one united front, the unity will be nothing less than that obtained in Babel ages ago. 4 Likes |
