@HarryDuce, my inference on this ijaw situation is solely based on observation. I've been in an environment with two Ijaws from Odi in bayelsa, one ijaw from Engenni in ahoada-west and another from elem-tombia in Degema respectively in Rivers state. The bayelsa guy spoke with his brother from odi and out of curiosity I asked the guys from engenni and Kalabari if they understood and they said not at all.
Now the Ofoni speak Urhobo but are Ijaws; the people of gelegele(that seaport area in Edo state) speak Edo but are Ijaws; apoi in ondo speak Yoruba but are ijaws;Ndoki speak Igbo but are Ijaws; Obolo speak a different language from Ibani, which is different from Abua, from Nkoroo, from Engenni, from Epie, from Nembe, from Ogbia, from Atissa. Except Kalabari and Okrika which is highly mutually intelligible, the rest is just something else. How does a scholar sincerely group all this diverse ethnicities into one unit.

HopeAtHand:Lol. It seems you have your mind made up already. A few things to note:
•We have the western and eastern Apoi. The former in Ondo state and the later in Bayelsa state. The name of their clans are solely Ijoid. Them speaking Yoruba can be likened to the situation in Bonny and Opobo.
•Nobody claims Ofoni people are Ijaws.
•Izon is not understood by the average Rivers man. Only a few persons (mostly senior citizens) can grab some words and phrases but i still stand by my assertion that the languages are similar.
• Kalabari in Rivers state is like the central Ijoid dialect in the state in the Same vein, Izon is the central Ijoid dialect in Bayelsa and Delta. Okrika and Ibani people are not the only ones who understand the Kalabari language. From Nembe to Engenni. People understand it more than you think they do. I'm pretty sure other languages have dialectical differences as well; they can go from intelligible to almost a different language entirely. It's not unique to Ijaw.
•Speaking of Engenni. They consider themselves Ijaw just as much as the Degema people consider themselves a distinct tribe.
•Ogbia is an exception. Their language is entirely different.
•Since there's no written history of these areas, it's hard to substantiate claims. If Ndoki people have an Ijaw (Ibani) history, It's left the indigenes (especially senior citizens) to corroborate any claim.
Re: Ndoki Clan Reunion With Their Ijaw Root. by HarryDuce(m): 12:04am On Apr 26, 2019
Curlieweed:If they indeed have Ijaw (Ibani) ancestry, it wont be out of the ordinary to get the statements out of the horses' mouths. Such claims need corroboration.
I'm sure you've heard Ikwerre claiming Benin ancestry and you've seen the reaction from most Igbos that come across the topic. It is not out of the ordinary as it's to be expected.
You see my point...
Re: Ndoki Clan Reunion With Their Ijaw Root. by pazienza(m): 12:18am On Apr 26, 2019
My dear, you as an Ikwerre has got no moral right to put mouth on this matter.
What these Ndoki people are doing by claiming Ijaw, isn't different from what Ikwerre did by claiming Bini.
All these small Igbo speaking clans in Rivers, they look unto Ikwerre as standard, but you lots set a precedence of blatant historical revisionism which turned logic on its head. When you claimed to be descendants of Bini.
Now the rest are following your example of history revisionism, and you are here crying foul.
You are mad that diverse non Ijaw speaking groups are telling us manufactured stories of Ijaw origin?
Now you know how we feel when you lots come out with your affront to our basic intelligence, when you tell us that your ancestors left Bini as Bini speakers and ended up with Igbo language in your current location.
This is what happens when irrationality is allowed to stand. It becomes the norm, and sets into place a cascade of other illogical things to stand.
Now Egbema is Bini, Etche is Bini, Ndoki are confused between Bini and Ijaw which to choose. It's an open session of madness and open display of buffoonery.
I salute una.

@Pazienza, i'm not mad at all at ndoki claiming ijaw or ijaw claiming ndoki(whichever way). I'm only a scholar observing the recent 'Ijawnisation' of some groups in recent times and sincerely to me this latest addition have started to make the Ijaw concept feel like a bad joke. There are 2 reasons for this.
1) The diversity of the various Ijaw groups/clans (both in language and culture) from east to west are too far removed. from Abia to Ondo is quite a heterogeneous mix.
2) They have now included ethnicities that are way larger than Ijaw into the Ijaw project. It's like turning the table around as it will be abit more suavé for an Ijaw to become Yoruba or Igbo than the other way.
This is just an inference tho.
Re: Ndoki Clan Reunion With Their Ijaw Root. by pazienza(m): 8:27am On Apr 26, 2019
HopeAtHand:Well, we have the Great bini descendants (GBD) organization for Bini people, whose duty is to do same for Bini.
They have Members from Ogba, Ikwerre, Ekpeye, Epie, Engenni, Anioma, all attending and claiming to be Bini people.
Ikwerre people started the madness with your blatant distortions of history. Everyone is catching the fever now. You are witnessing Ijawnization now, but Ndiigbo have had to deal with Bininization spear headed by Ikwerres since after the uncivil war.
Your people are no saints. You have no moral right to question the validity of Ndoki Ijaw claims, Bininized Ikwerre people had always victimized and cajoled them in Rivers state because they remained Igbo, you tell them they are squatters in Rivers state, that there are no Igbos in Rivers state, now they are responding to your games by playing by them, and you are here forming concerned scholar.
Listen up, their claim to Ijaw was inspired by your claim to Bini. It's a well trodded path that shuns at rational thinking and analysis, but only interested in political gains.
This is the truth.

A scenario played out of recent in delta state...( I will withold the location and my stance coz whatever happens is contrary to my view on them here and outside)
It was a fuss between a young guy from (ogba, Ikwerre, ndoki) in his mid twenties and an old man in his late sixties or seventies....(from anioma)....please I withold the exact location based onn my view of them and because all are same.
so the young man chibuzor from rivers state bearing igbo name said he is not igbo was thinking that the other from anioma will support, to my suprise the old man back fired u are very stupid...if u are not igbo then what are u...hhe continue like this, am a full igboman....he even went ahead to narrate issues of past, ojukwu and the rest, hee called one justice like that.....he told the boy to live a truthful and decent life that their elites and educated are just deceiving them for their own gain.......young man was so quiet and calm....
the old man turned to me and said my son is that not true....I was only laughing at the drama and only replied I don't know ooooooo..........coz even me don't see both of them as igbos so I was just laughing at the drama...it was fun that day.
Then to me....they are who they are and not igbos....
it has always been my stand, they are not igbos.
Immhotep caution ur aged to know what they are claiming and allow the elites and educated to lead them....
Not that am agreeing with u Mr pazienza coz I will never do that but I just pointed out what happened with nothing attached.

The way I see it, they are all setting themselves up for political confusion.
Aldophus Wabara became the Senate president on Igbo quota. Now his people are saying they are Ijaw. What do you think will happen tomorrow when an Ndoki man seek for political representative Post in Igboland? Your guess is as good as mine, there will surely be resistance from some Igbo quarters against such, and those who pose such resistance would have been justified.
If the Ijaws rejected Odili presidency despite his claims to being a rivers man, how exactly will an Igbo speaking Ndoki be treated in Ijaw council?
I was in an Ijaw group called "Ijaw language clinic" when the Ndoki case came up, and the consensus amongst Ijaw people there is that Ndoki joining Ijaw is good as it would help them expand their borders, but they also insisted that Ndoki would have to undergo a de Igbonization program to ensure their stopped speaking their current Igbo language and names and instead start learning Ibani Ijaw language, as well as changing their names to Ijaw equivalents. This sounds fair enough for, and exactly what we asked the Bini claimants in Anioma, Ikwerre, Ogba, Ekpeye, and else where to do, by reverting entirely to Bini language and names and stop creating confusion everywhere.
The Ikwerre man here is disturbed about the Ijaw rising influence in Rivers state. The Ijaw are making moves for non Asa parts of Oyigbo, they have claimed Degema who are obviously non Ijoid speaking, they are wooing Ekpeye people as a delegation of IYC met with Ekpeye youths not long ago for the possibility of establishing a branch of IYC there, problem is only that Ekpeye is already busy with the GDB project of Binis, but Binis have no crude oil to offer, so I envisage that on the long run,, Ekpeye will join Engenni to become Ijaw.
Ijaws had added Andoni (clearly Ibibiod people with sprinkles of Ijaw and Igbo admixture) in their midst and the Eastern Obolo and Ibeno are almost on the verge of joining Ijaw too.
Eastern Obolo and Ibeno constitutes over 90% of Akwa ibom sea coast, with Ibeno and Eastern Obolo gone, Akwa Ibom will lose up to 90% of her current crude oil revenue.
The Ijaws are encircling the entire Niger delta region, soon they will unite all the newly acquired territories in their proposed oil rivers state. This will eventually leave Ikwerres with a landlocked Rivers state with meagre crude oil, mainly onshore ones.
Of course, I understand why the Ikwerre man here was bothered, their Igbo denial game has backfired on them, as it had set the stage for other groups to deny and claim Ijaw as well. Remember that Ikwerre only became dominant in Rivers state because Ijaws were reduced to minorities in Rivers state. With the new political moves and franchising of the Ijaw tag the IYC is embarking on, Ijaw would definitely become the majority ethnic group in Rivers state, and would eventually push for their oil Rivers state, should Nigeria ever become restructured.
And yes, I still believe strongly that you are not Igbo.

Nothing ChinenyeN can do about it.
The Ndokis are set on their Ijawnization program .
They sense political gain from Ijaws, which is a bit surprising, as I see none, but what do I know?
I have been on Ndoki forums ever this saga started and the vibe I get is that the majority or say vocal majority are in on the Ijawnization agenda.
Nothing anyone can do about it. Many Ngwas who came on their forum to preach otherwise had their voices drowned. The Ndoki see Ngwas as their oppressors. The antagonism is palpable.
Re: Ndoki Clan Reunion With Their Ijaw Root. by letu(m): 9:51pm On Apr 26, 2019
pazienza:Are you aware that the same Ndoki people shouting/pareadein themselves as we are part of Ijo people are also a powerful members of a political/cultural organization know as UKWA NGWA and the organization is also part of NIGER DELTA because the two is what makes Abia state an oil producing state.
So don't mind them, as an Ngwa man I see them as my brother's and sisters because they can be crafty like every other human bings,so don't mind them they know what they are doing even those ones you spoke with on the so called Ndoki forum/ social media, to Ngwa people being there oppressors well the same Ngwa people also see some Igbos/Igbo politician as having an unnecessary heathered/ Oppressive towards Ngwa people/ anything Ngwa. Has any of that stop Ngwa people from being Igbo people answer is NO again Pazienza my brother NO MIND THEM.
