The key to it is balance. Enjoy your video games but don't neglect everything else or your woman. If a lady does not like you playing video games, just look for one that will. My ex could kill at the thot of me playing video game cos she wanted all my attention. My sweetheart doesn't mind really. she would support others whooping my ass when I start bragging about how good I am. All in the name of fun.

I don't think the lady is attacking video games directly. What she's attacking are activities that you enjoy ALONE. These are activities that indirectly tell her that you have other pro-active ways of occupying your free time and women HATE that (she probably had an ex-boyfriend who choose to play video games when her excessive nagging irritating and unbearable. . .figures ).

A lot of people on nairaland are bloody hypocrites. They say playing games is for children and yet, a lot of them can spend 12-18 hours on nairaland EVERY DAY. A lot of them spend a greater part of their day gossiping about things that are of no concern to them. Another percentage of them spend any free time they have chasing after everything in skirts. . .they will chase a camel so long as it wears a skirt and they come here acting all "grown". I wonder when last they actually saw a video game being played. Most of them don't can't tell a PS3 from a blu ray player or an Xbox 360 from a bread toaster. All they know is Super Mario that was developed in the 1970's! ! ! Pathetic! ! !

I will be 31 this in a matter of days this month and i have been playing video games for the past 19 years of my life and i intend playing video games till i go blind in old age! For crying out loud, it's a past time/hobby. A lot of you "matured" people here spend all your spare time in bars and clubs guzzling alcohol. A lot of you here use every spare opportunity you have to cheat on your partners (how matured. . .lol). Does playing video games make me childish? Definitely not. It's a hobby and that's it. If you don't understand it, then look the other way.

If people say gamers are childish, what do you have to say of football club supporters? You're supporting a club (that's foreign to your country of origin), you cough out good money to buy their jerseys and other paraphernalia, you make it a point of duty NEVER to miss a match (even if it means missing an important appointment), you scream louder when these foreign teams score (more than you support your own country), you sometimes get into arguments (or fights) because of the matches. . .all these for what? For a bunch of players who are making several millions every year. . .even if you make one tenth of that money in your entire life, you will still be regarded as a successful man. . .on top of that, they are foreign clubs.

I'm not keen on soccer and you'll never catch me in some pub screaming GOOOAAALLLLL but i don't shut people down all because they have a hobby different from mine. Respect other people's hobbies and quit being bloody-childish-hypocrites! ! !

Please help me tell them. I don't know what's so complex about that to understand. Tomorrow, when someone makes the kind of statements they are making, they will be the first to say to say "it's wrong to generalize". Personally, i think a couple of their ex-boyfriends where hard core gamers and you know how women ALWAYS want to be the center of attention at all times. An old time pal of mine got threatened by his girlfriend at the time (now his wife) that she would break his game console if he didn't do what she wanted him to do (spend his weekend driving her and her sister around for weekend shopping and babysitting them afterwards). She was actually JEALOUS of the gaming console!!! Can you beat that? Some guy just wants an hour or so to unwind after a hard long week and he can't have that alll because she says so. It all comes down to the "attention" they feel that gaming console is "getting" from you and they feel JEALOUS.

Isn't it alarming how the words "Real Men" is being abused and cheapened on this forum? I played Metal Gear solid 4 on PS3 two months after it came out and i can tell you this, it's not a game for anyone below 18. How about Assasins creed? Or God of War 1,2,3? This is a game that has it's story line scripted from ancient greek mythologies (Zeus,Kratos and the rest of them). Some guy said "Real men" play chess instead of video games and i wonder what he has to say about computer chess games. Or is that "different" now coz it isn't physical? Good grief. These people just BLOW!

They say video games are pointless and yet the same people almost died when Arsenal FC went down the other day. The same people who say gaming is meaningless will branch off at a drinking pub after work to guzzle down numerous bottles of alcohol before heading home. . .does it benefit them? The same people talking spend almost the whole day on nairaland and facebook and you wonder what they are talking about. How long does one play video games? I have a PS3,Xbox 360 and a whole lot of serious games on this computer i'm typing with (ever played bionic commando ) but i haven't played them for MONTHS! ! ! It's a once in a while thing i just do to while away time that's all e.g on a boring weekend when i would rather remain quietly at home instead of hanging out with the guys.
