ityP:Trust me I understand but accept yourself as first being a complete human being. Education sharpens the mind and is not the end but a means to an end. I believe reorientation is key. See education as what people pass through to get a job. It doesn't make one complete or incomplete. Like ngwababe advised, Oya begin go there joor! Dem dey mad? If dem look you, look dem back and smile. Celebrate with those that accept you, dem rest can go to BLAZES with their foolishness. Who dem epp? |

What I think from all these is that you had financial restraints to further your photography... Studying medlab is not a guarantee for making better money. But it is always good to have a certificate cos you don't know where it will be needed tomorrow... Finish School get a stable job with ur certificate and then save some money to continue your photography if you still have the passion by then |

Mariangeles:Only if you knew my waec and jamb results when I entered school. I repeat school is the greatest scam in our century. I dont need a school to be successful in life. With school we are trained for jobs. Whatever sha. You have the freedom to decide what you want for your life. |

ityP:The feeling is normal, but you gats to brace up. My brother, see eeh, you will regret it more( that you have something doing and you never made use of it while in school)when you graduate.. University no be who first graduate oo. Even, I'll suggest you open a mini studio, find a make up artist, you guys should combine and start doing something creative with your camera, thereby raising money for yourself. In future, you surely see that you never wasted any moment of your life. |

ityP:I heeded your collective advice and went for the induction. I am glad I did. They were resilient and focused. It's not fluke they came this far. They are my inspiration. If they can make it, I can too. CONGRATS TO ALL NEWLY INDUCTED MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTISTS OF UNIVERSITY OF JOS. I am very happy for them. |

Op, I thank God for your life and for the fact that you made the right decision. See, forget all those saying you should have followed your dreams. Education is key and even those that made it big like William gates and co still had to go back to school. By the way, they are just the very very few exceptions to the rule. In the Nigeria of today, education determines almost everything you achieve. Even when you are into business, you still require the right level of education to get the right kind of connection to get a breakthrough. I'll share a story with you and it is not just for you but for others who are planning to drop out of school to learn from. A few years ago, I used to live on a long street in a suburb of the mainland in lagos. Several characters lived on same street ranging from guys who have no future ambition, boys who are into internet fraud, boys who smoked weed, drank heavily and gambled on the streets, guys who were just normal guys and neither here nor there and also those who knew what they were doing and where they were going. I made friends with all and sundry but I was closer to the last group I mentioned-Those who were ready to pursue a future, or so I thought. I was in my third year in a renowned federal university in the southwest but not in Lagos and I had these group of guys that i took interest in. I advised them from time to time on making the right decisions and even made myself an example by going to study during the hols in one of the schools on the street and also inviting them along. Same year, the entire four gained admission into renowned federal universities in the southwest. One was admitted to my school to study microbiology, two others to study law and physics respectively in UNILAG and the last one to study civil engineering in UI. Four months later, the one studying physics hinted me of his plan to abandon the course cos he wanted something he could use to work in the oil and gas industry and that he chose petroleum engineering and was offered physics. I begged this guy with everything I had and even introduced him to senior friends who were working in the oil and gas industry and never studied anything engineering so they could tell him their story. He was so adamant and used an excuse of being caught for exam malpractice to leave UNILAG. I asked him to re-write JAMB choosing petroleum engineering again but he refused and to my utmost amazement, chose to study welding technology in the petroleum technology institute in warri. He later got the admission after I had graduated and the others were in 300 level except the guy studying microbiology cos he had to leave for UNILAG to start a course in medicine and this was quite understandable(mind you, these guys are intelligent). I wept for this other guy and even thought he had his village people on his case. Fast forward to four years ago, the one that studied law is working with a renowned law firm in Lagos with an oil and gas employment almost sealed, the one that studied medicine is working with LASUTH(NYSC) with an option of a regular role after completion, the one that studied civil engineering works with a civil engineering firm in Warri and also has his private business and this other guy just has an OND in welding technology from PTI, has not been able to get the oil and gas job he's always dreamt of and to add to all this, he impregnated a girl and was forced to marry her. To everyone reading this, one wrong decision could set you back forever and when you are at a crossroads when it comes to taking life changine decisions, always take the most logical route and forego exceptions cos those kind of decisions are associated with emotional reasoning and not everyone will be lucky. deltateam: |

adanny01:Your friend's story is a sad one. His mum didn't help in his psychological development as she made him detached from reality and it really affected him. He could have persisted if only he knew. Seems you guys had a poor foundation of maths. The further maths textbook used in secondary school is just parking all the knowledge like sardines. It's wururu to the answer and doesn't give you a deep understanding of the concepts. Besides, they are not the standard of A level neither do they make it easy for you to follow up A level maths. Hope you are now good in maths? I can recommend good textbooks. Hope you are treating your friend nicely? Lift him up and don't abandon him. His mum, unwillingly, let him down. |

ityP:I hope your experience has taught you a lesson. I am sure, then, you were among those shouting "start something", "become self employed", "no excuse for failure", "you have two hands and legs, what's your excuse?" etc. each time a jobless graduate complained about unemployment and difficulty. You thought it was that easy. ![]() Anyway, don't be sad. Focus on your degree. Life has shown you that it not easy so start preparing for life after school. Make the most of your degree and next time, don't ignorantly and arrogantly gamble on your opportunities. It is well. |

ityP:Trust me, it's not because they perceive you as bad energy. They are just mean and up in their high horse. This is another lesson: Friends stay when the grass is green but disappear when times are hard. Stop making excuses for sh1tty people. Mean, arrogant, condescending and psychopathic individuals exist. People around you show their true color when things are hard. What excuse do they have not to be nice to you? Can't they just say "hi" and respond to your greetings and still go their way. The few who are nice to you, do they have two heads? What's the excuse of those sh1tty folks really? As life is teaching you, be learning — it shows you are smart. Read my topics, https://www.nairaland.com/5009686/hard-facts-life https://www.nairaland.com/5150034/boys-get-here-mumu-must The life out there is tough. True love and true friendship don't exist, every man for himself. If you know you know. |
