Khanben: I'm just saying, forget the improvements in talent athleticism and skill. Just imagine LeBron playing in a league where zonal defense was illegal. Like seriously! LOOOOOOL! But in the end you're right, in my ascension to the ultimate level of enlightenment I have attained now i have come to realise that people see things differently and always will, people think rihanna is beautiful i think shes buck ugly. There's subjectivity in everything. Some people also just aren't very smart and you have to live with the curse of being smarter than them because believe me it's a curse. Like the saying goes "talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish". And thats obviously a fact because i am an omniscient being. |

donlittle25:LeNomad fans will always jump from contradiction to contradiction like Amalinze the cat. People that are crazy enough to argue with NBA players who played both eras while they couldn't bounce a ball down a straight line. It's a complete waste of time The only striking difference from era to era for me is the proliferation of 3pt shooting and that didn't start fully till the Warriors became a force |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 9:50pm On Jul 13, 2019 |
"The subject was defense in the NBA, and Michael Jordan was speaking, although more about offense, especially his. We know few defenses could do anything about that. But there was one that might be bothersome, the zone defense. It was the topic du jour at last month's All-Star Game, and Jordan was making an impassioned plea before the competition committee that had gathered to consider rules changes to enliven the NBA game. Jordan spoke passionately. If teams were able to play zone defenses, he said, he never would have had the career he did." LOL! Michael Jordan would average 50 in this era. LOOOL! athletic demar derozan wouldn't do sh-t! Ultimate revisionist history and sentimentalism puts this man on a pedestal he has no business being on. Was he the most important player in the history of the game? possibly. Was he the greatest player in the history of the game? Arguably. Did he and david sterns marketing make basketball the sport it is today? Definitely. Was he the best player to ever play the game? Fvck no! People talk about this man like he was some sort of infallible being like me and I just laugh at their gullibility. 1 Like |

SmooshCHN:People think good defense is about physicality and athleticism. How athletic was Bruce Bowen? Every day we keep hearing nonsense about how players in this era are bigger, stronger, faster more athletic but why is Steph Curry thriving and torching fools? How did a midget like Isaiah Thomas drop 29 per game in one season. It's very laughable when you hear people go on ad nauseum as if basketballers of today have reinvented some wheel, as if pick and roll isn't still the staple of the offense |

Roland17:People no dey really fear Serena again. I don't know if it's motherhood but stepping on the court half the time you feel you have lost already when you see her on the other side. This was the same Halep that she was 9-1 ahead of prior to today but see how Halep jumped on her throat from the first game. First Kerber, then Osaka and now Halep. A pattern is emerging |

Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 10:22pm On Jul 13, 2019 |
To start with, do they even play any defense in this era? |
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 10:43pm On Jul 13, 2019 |
This myth that Bronsexuals keep peddling that zone defense was not played in the 80's and 90's is too funny. Teams routinely played and got away with it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQePkBnD0vo Just pree 35 year old Jordan blocking Tim Duncan. That's for chic2pimp who thinks the GOAT was overrated on defense. The irony is when it became fully legal to play zone a washed up 38 year old MJ was 25-6-5 till he got hurt |
Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 10:47pm On Jul 13, 2019 |
A40:The NBA summer league plays more defense than the real NBA games. At 35 LeBum stopped playing active defense 2 seasons ago. Not saying he was not a good defender but it just buttresses and accentuates my question about defense in this era. The referees are the MVP of most games because they spend more time whistling and moving their feet than today’s NBA players. |

Roland17: Revisionist history. Talentess oafs punching each other in the face don't define the effectiveness or lack thereof of a defense. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zONvMKkIpwA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekHYxTHEHf0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcktdn1WnaU |
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 11:11pm On Jul 13, 2019 |
Roland17:We saw LeNomad being shoved by his junior colleague to go and play defense. The truth is LeNomad stopped being an elite defender after leaving the Heatles. And even for the most part he was more of a elite help defender than an on ball defender. What is a flagrant 1, flagrant 2 in this era was a clean hard foul back then. Says it all! And that's why flopping is at an all-time high and an art form today |

RiskelWillow: Can I reciprocate by showing comical collections of imaginary defense being played in this era? |
Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 11:20pm On Jul 13, 2019 |
A40: The BIG3 Basketball plays more defense than the NBA, I don't even mean physicality, I mean hard defense, worth more the Summer league. No be the same NBA wen we dey watch? |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 11:26pm On Jul 13, 2019 |
Roland17: But with the way you people talk these clips aren't even supposed to exist. Imagine what people would be able to dig up if clips were more ubiquitous and social media existed back then. Oh and don't forget the media. I'm sure they'd be people moaning about how trash the NBA was compared to the previous era. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 11:33pm On Jul 13, 2019 |
"The one thing i see happen often is you see these old broken down NBA players talking about their era and how great they were back then and the players today are not as good as they were back then, thats crazy mahn! I mean obviously you haven't seen lebron james the last 17, 18 years, you didn't see klay thompson score 37 points in one quarter..." - The great white hope, larry legend, Michael Jordans real father. |
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 11:44pm On Jul 13, 2019 |
Roland17:But speed, athleticism yen yen yen. Lmaooo yet the Spurs won 4 Chips post Jordan with Tim Duncan and Tony Parker. Defense is more IQ and fundamentals than raw physicality. But physicality is definitely a much needed tool. You can see the teams that were able to beat the Warriors were the teams that were able to get physical, now compare to how physical teams got back then and you see the difference is clear. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 11:46pm On Jul 13, 2019 |
Many players are afraid of playing with lebron because of the spotlight and the shadow he casts over those around him. AD has a lot of balls to not only embrace the challenge but to take initiative in ensuring he's put in that spot. Thats the difference between him and players like paul george and why i'm 100% sure that AD will show up while Paul George will turn into "Playoff P". I can't wait until we get our hands on these impostors. |

Roland17: I believe the Rockets should get better than they were. With Brodie, just imagine the fast pace they will play with... At least Brodie will stay fit and Harden work load reduces. Just for Harden and Brodie to sort possession intervals and Brodie's 3pt shooting. I see it as a very nice upgrade (no disrespect to CP3, but his being healthy is a factor). What do you think? |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 12:02am On Jul 14, 2019 |
KNIGHTBlaed: They're definitely better. The question is how much better? Both of their superstars are significantly flawed. Will they complement each others flaws? Will they be able to share the rock? Honestly with the way the west is built, i see a first or second round exit at best. You know harden needs the ball in his hands, so does brodie, you know brodie will brick, I just don't see how that will work. |

Nerlens Noel really let LeNomad's yes man talk him out of a $70m/4 year deal with the Mavs. He would forever be cursing the day he made that quack his agent |

KNIGHTBlaed: It is all about timing for me and this is why I say so. For two consecutive seasons since the Rockets stacked the house, they have lost to the Warriors and looking into next season, the Warriors will be less powerful with the loss of KD and Klay’s injury. So that means, if they met in the post season, the Rockets actually stand a chance of getting over the hump irrespective of who is at the top of the key. A very underrated aspect of the Rockets game is their defense and that is because of the ISO basketball MDA plays. They still have a good perimeter and interior defense. My issue with the Rockets has always been the rigidity of MDA. I personally do not like rigid coaches who refuse to adapt to changes and this makes their team easy to prepare for because of the predictability. A different coach, say Alvin Gentry will get more out of the Rockets with CP3 and Harden. Harden is a monster that MDA created and it was solely empowered by D. Morey who is cursed with analytics. Brodie’s arrival does not change much for me especially if they are still going to be jacking up those ISO 3 and this is because CP3 is a more efficient scorer than Brodie who is renowned for volume attempts. CP3 is a better facilitator when Rockets/MDA choose to do something different. More importantly, CP3 is a clutch player, a demon at the free throw line if the game came to that in comparison to Brodie. The positives for Brodie is the already established friendship with Harden but playing together years ago at OKC may not necessarily translate into on court chemistry on a different team with different roles, identity and system. Both players have gone on to win MVP trophies so there is still going to be that ego and we both know Brodie does not back down for anyone and is quite stubborn even to the detriment of his team. He brings health and availability in comparison to CP3 but that is enough for me to argue he will be a better player/ fit than CP3 for the Rockets in the post season. 1 Like 1 Share |

KNIGHTBlaed: Please guys, let's start with our prediction for the season and let's know which team/teams we stand for. So that once the season starts, we'll know who to laugh at and who to praise . We already know which team/teams our senior men here represent. But some of us still never declare, so make we know. For me, Clippers/GSW Please no bashing, na my choice... My prediction: West top 5 1. Clippers 2. Lakers 3. GSW 4. Nuggets 5. Rockets/Blazers Surprise package: Pelicans East top 5 1. Bucks 2. Sixers 3. Nets 4. Celtics 5. Anybody Surprise package: I no expect anything 2 Likes |
