There's this sweet Akata I met on fb, we are getting along well and she's thinking we could spend our lives together. She's a single mother of one, older than me with one year and a medical assistant.

Now the problem is, she doesn't really earn too much and she has accumulated alot of loans that could amount to 50k dols and she wants to acquire another to study at the University for 4years, calculating all these could amount to like 150k dols and I've not even talked about my own cos I'll have to sponsor myself through school.

Another issue is that I don't think I'm really ready to settle down cos I really need to hustle and make money to help my family if I eventually travel before marrying and I intend on doing a course here in Nigeria for Digital Marketing to help me secure a nice job.

My problem now is, I'm scared of marrying someone who has acquired these loans cos Las Las na me go still follow pay wetin I no sabi.

Please, I need a clear guide on what I should do cos I don't wanna be selfish here with her by using her to get to the USA, I'm very willing to let go of her if I have very good reasons to.

Pardon my scattered words.

The ball is in your court in this case.
You have to make the best decision for your self.

Your case is still better because she let you to know all about her debt before you got together.

We read of a fellow that it was after their wedding,
after the partner got to Yankee and after many many months of them living as a couple that the partner got to know of IRS debt, Student loans, personal debts etc of the other partner, now, they are both stuck in it. (an amount around what you wrote up there!).

Make up your mind.
This is personal to you!

If i'm getting you clearly, they'd both have to pay up the loans right? As i'm in talks with one who is in debts of about $200k

Please don’t mortgage your life for the rest of your life. Think hard about this.

Firstly, you do not have to pay for her debts, its a loan of a life time and most of them do not pay it all back during their life time.

now your concerns should be

1) how to fund your schooling over there
2) can you actually live with an akata with one kid, think about this one very deeply, itas easier said than done.
3) are you ready to be a bread winner cos thats what your signing up for although its going to be 50/50

FYI, if you eventually make it over there with the right papers, you will get a job that will cater for your family in naija properly. Plus your generations will always have dual citizenship which is a gift to any child .

You think oyinbo women are like the black woman, she doesn't need you to pay her loan, how much do you have, after her course she will get a better paid job and the loan will be removed in her salary ... Common, leave the fucking country.

You said you're taking a digital marketing course. See this OP. Digital marketing is hot cake abroad - if you're truly good at it.

Plus, I don't know what's the problem with debts. As long as the debts were not a result of irresponsible lifestyle I think there's no big deal in it. What are her plans to pay the debt? Ask her and see if they're feasible and realistic.

The only issue I see in your case is are you convinced that you two truly love her and she loves you? Once you can answer that every other issue is minor. Both of you will overcome any other obstacles.

However, I've never left the shores of Nigeria. So my opinion might be myopic. I advise that you give preference to the words of people who have witnessed how debts operate in US.

Don't marry her based on the material things you can gain from her (and vice versa). As for her loans, both accumulated and yet-to-be accumulated, the repayment plan she's in place will go a long way to determine your final decision.

cheesy
This one never still know whatsup.
You never even reach America you don dey behave like white already.
Don't travel and help your family you hear?stay here dey ask annoying questions.
There are 2 things you can do;
-propose a business to her in oil and gas that has very high yield that she will use to clear her debts and sponsor her education, collect like $30k from her and kupu cool
Or
-travel to meet her jejely, manage whichever attitude she give you till you fix your immigration status and get small bread of your own, then you bounce.
Don't impregnate her o before child support kill you!
My guy use your upper

Don't do it bro! Flee the Harlot, do you think she's a catch that's why she's looking for some mumu African to marry her? No sane man marries an American woman, not to talk of one with a child and debts, don't let anyone use coming to America to induce you into slavery, believe me, America is not that great.
