If u are a Christian, what joins u and Ur wife is a Christian marriage or blessing backed by certificate. Same for a Muslim. Traditional marriage only bring both families together to agree to let their children unite.

Church wedding is simply a society wedding and it is 100% optional, many people done even do it these days, they just do traditional marriage n then do court marriage.

So Christians are expected to conduct Christian marriage

Very true....white weddings are not African it's a borrowed culture from the west. Long b4 d British came to the shores of Africa our ancestors married the traditional way with just few yams and a keg of palm wine + kolanut so all this white wedding madness is of little or no use.
