Go to school, volunteer, gym, Netflix, video gaming lol you choose. You can’t work, you need to calm down. It is what it is.

Thanks. I’m very aware I can’t work, not yet searching. Schooling planned for next session, I gym, Netflix but never video game. The only volunteering option I’ve seen is firefighting, I’m not sure I can do that. I live in a predominantly white city, I barely see my neighbors.
But like you said, I need to calm down. It is what it is

Abi oga mi. How you deh?

Fine o. I am currently doing an online course to improve my excel and financial modelling skills. Its a huge requirement for my kind of job here.

For peeps looking for a particular kind of job, the advice is to look at different adverts and identify the recurring requirement / requirements. Those requirements should be what we should strive to obtain before the work authorization becomes available. That way...we are ready for work by the time we are authorized to work.

If you are a Christian,.....Go to church. Join a unit or group and volunteer in church. Attend group meetings.

If there are professional groups that relate to your profession in that city join them and attend some of their events

Network with those white people in your city........they can become helpful

Thanks so much for your time taken to create this thread.

I have a sister whom her hubby is a legal resident in the State. He filed for her and every necessary steps had been taken. She got a date for interview and went, unfortunately she was not able to see the consular for the interview because she actually did not go with the result of her medical due to late collection date.

She was asked to go and get the medical and reschedule another interview date, she was given a hard copy of information that will guide her through the rescheduling process. Having gone through the necessary procedures, unfortunately we were unable to get a date, the response from the page is “there is no available date yet”.

We mailed the given contact and we were directed to another contact called support-nigeriatravel@.....

We still haven’t gotten any available date ooo,

Please brother, how can your help us with vital information if you may have.

LegitBachelor:
Hi guys,

I am a K1 Visa applicant. I had to create this thread because I couldn't find a thread that's specially dedicated to Fiancee (K1) Visa Application. My motivation for the creation of this thread is the USA Visit Visa Thread which have been really helpful to lots of nairalanders and guests (shout out to LadyGuinivere and Co).

K1 Visa is unique because it has both non-immigrant and immigrant features hence the need to have a dedicated thread where issues can be thrashed out.

My hope is that both successful, delayed and intending K1 Visa applicants will be active on this thread so we can all learn from each other. Also I hope we can get the Visa Officers to offer their professional comments once in a while.

So I'll provide a brief guide on how to proceed with the K1 Visa application. Please correct me in the places where I'm wrong so I can effect the changes.

The first step in the visa application is the filling of a petition using the form I-129F by your US citizen fiancee whom you must have met in person. The filled form is submitted to USCIS at their US address. If the petition is approved, it is sent to the NVC who in turn sends it to the US Embassy here in Lagos.

Once the US Embassy receives your casefile, you can now proceed with the second step which is to fill the DS-160 form and schedule an Interview.

After the interview, you will be issued a K1 Visa if you were successful which allows you entry into the States. You must marry your fiancee within 90 days of entry.

Details of the process involved can be found here:
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/family-immigration/nonimmigrant-visa-for-a-fiance-k-1.html

I recommend we all read the info on the link before asking specific questions on this thread.

There also exists an official thread created by a US Embassy Visa Officer for Immigration related questions. You may want to check it out wink.

Oya let the discussions begin smiley

I need help here pls.. Anybody!

I met my man on the first week of this month and we're already making plans for him to come and meet my family by January so that after his visit, we can start our k1 visa application. I need help with the following.

1: He's 18 years older than I am. I hope this won't be a red flag?
2: he's divorced
3. He has four kids from his previous marriage (could this be a red flag too?)
4: we intend applying after the first visit.
5. Will the length of our relationship affect our application in any way?

We really want to be together as soon as possible and k1 Visa seems the quickest. What would u advice we do? Am anticipating a response as soon as possible. Thank you!
@legitbachelor and others pls help me out.

You might need to wait until an available date pop up ..I doubt it if there's something someone can do here to fast forward the whole process for you .Really sorry about this .Since she's been at the embassy before,I think it's proper for the embassy to give you a date .

Thinking the wide age difference might be a red flag when you applying for a K1 visa.I advise you to go for a spousal visa. It's better for the whole process to be late than to get yourself denied when you can actually resolve this before hand. Its just a piece of advise though ..you might still go for the K1 visa too
