I think this new generation of men are getting it right sha. I know someone whose chore is to do the Dishes, Laundry, Make breakfast for the kids, Pound yam (lmao) drop off and pick his two boys up from school. The wife (who claims she's living in a Boys Hostel) is the only female in the house as he is raising the kids to be Respectful and Useful around the house by getting things done before Mommy asks.

Chores in your own home is a way of taking care of yourself as a grown adult and taking care of your loved ones who can’t help themselves (like the children and elderly). It’s not beneath anyone. It’s not a lowly duty that is reserved for the lowly people.

You need to change that archaic mindset.

I will sure handle the cooking. It would be an added bonus if he can cook too. But I would never want a man who will make so much fuss over the days I am too stressed to cook.

As for daily running of the house chores, if we can't do it together, then we are getting a cleaner. I don't want to break down. Someone will na say "women age faster". Na poor man stressed wife dey age faster. Bianca and Otedola's wife have refused to age

I do cook, do laundry and take care of baby girl 60% of the time.
Her dad cleans, does dishes, yard work and other home maintenance chores and take care of baby girl 40% of the time.

We both work full time but I only work 3 days a week and then take one day off to recover from work. So the rest of the days I’m free for other house keeping things like stocking up the pantry and miscellaneous stuff.

The truth is that it can never be 50/50 all the time but if you’re both willing, it will be balanced and no one will be overworked and suffering while the owner is brandishing their Instruments as a reason why they can’t do this or that.

I guess my point is that you will surely find someone who will be willing to work with you to ensure a functioning home where you don’t have to suspend your dreams because house work and bla bla bla.

Yes, it can never entirely be 50-50, but we can
work towards ensuring no one is stressed. There are men like that, I have met such and they had money that I could see- not audio money. So, it is not like they were broke asses trying to fill a bvoid.

I really am at a loss sometimes. By your own account, your mother had to raise and send all of you to school by herself. No man in the picture paying school fees etc. So how is it that you have disdain for house chores? How is it that you are a chauvinist when a woman paid your school fees?

My old man was in the middle east for 10 years. Basically through my secondary and tertiary education. So it was my mum that held the Fort through this period. She even learnt to handle the shotgun we had to buy after a robbery. She built the houses we live in.

I don't understand how a person who was raised largely by a woman will have this much contempt for women.

Today’s women are amazing like your mom.

We’ve done a good job raising women who are shamed for being dependent. We call them leeches and gold diggers bla bla bla.

As a result we have women who are told they need to be able to do everything for themselves. And they do.

But we don’t have enough men raised well enough to balance that. We just have a lot who want to have an independent woman who is also traditional.

I'm sorry to butt in on y'all discussions. But i want to ask, Why should a male child grow up, work and come back to take care of the financial needs of his female counterparts? Is it that the female children shouldn't be responsible enough to know that they are supposed handle their self-responsibility themselves, or that they male children are higher than the female children?
