La cigale is an expensive restaurant. It's not for anybody except you are sure of your pocket. A light snack (burger and tea) here is about 56 euros depending on your choice on the items on the menu.

But the interior is very beautiful. Designed for the elites that it's meant for

Few stories.

One of the tasks given to us to do at the market today was to meet three french people, ask them few questions such as: What did you buy today, what is your most preferred Nantes dish, and one other question that just ran out of my weak brain. We were to use French for this task.

So I met one young lady. As the discussion went on, she asked where I am from, I said 9ja. She shouted. I was like, hope there's no problem. I asked her if she has been to 9ja, she said no. Oya, why did you shout then? I like Nigerian musics, she said. My mind just came down. Because I was expecting to hear Yahoo, etc

Turned out she knows Davido. So I recommended other few musics she can try. Flavour and Wizkid. She searched for them and bookmarked them.

Yeah, they are not that religious, however, they are passionate about the preservation of their cultural heritage.

Inside the church, there are candles and you can light anyone up with anything you wish. No one will force or ask you to light any candle up. I think it's a way of generating some revenue. Secondly, the country is rich and government or local council can fund the maintenance of the church.

Quite true though. At least the high taxes they pay are very well spent.

The question of your identity is a common one for anybody living in a foreign country. Whether you come from Venezuela, or Nigeria, you will often be asked which country you are from. So you had better be ready for that question and many more. I mean the good things about your country and the rest.

So yesterday, the 59th independence, during our lunch break, I thought of what to show about our country and nothing else came to my mind than our music. I played Ogene music and traditional dances from Youtube. I was shocked how all of them gathered around my laptop including the French teacher. They all loved it and asked what more can a tourist in Nigeria enjoy. I told them the food, music, culture, and the people.

I however warned them that in Nigeria, except you are a Zebra, do not stand on the zebra crossing expecting anyone to stop for you. grin grin

@Mrphysics, For someone not on scholarship, how much would it cost to school in France?

That's great. French is difficult because it has so many words with same sound and other things. If you start now and become dedicated, by September next you, you should have crossed the A+ stage. I will recommend you visit institute de Francaise or other french learning institution

I want to be at C1 stage by then, I think institute de francais is only located at abuja, I would search for the closest French center around me.

Hey guys,

I am a fan of the travel section, albeit a silent follower. Lol, so I want to contribute my quota. This is going to be all about pictures and experiences as an international student in France.

I basically take this pictures for guys who wish to see how life is here (in pictures). Don't worry, I have a lot of images for your viewing pleasure.

So let's go.

Pics:

1. My new life with coins. Here, I have to go back in time and appreciate the simplicity of life. Coins again? Yes
2, 3. My window view
4. My street view

Congrats bro.

Welcome bro.
I asked my French teacher how religious they are here and he told me they are less religious. However, majority are catholics by parental background. They don't practice it.

There's a cemetery on the road to the school. The cemetery has a CCTV camera and well built that you may mistake it for a tourist centre. With the way they build it, you will understand why they will have a grave in the church.

Referring to paragraph one, when you go to the church on weekdays, it's a more like a tourist centre. I was there by 12pm and they wasn't any bell for Angelus. They don't take the issue of a ghost or religion too seriously.

Lol you'd think so right? I to think most of these buildings go back to the early 14th century or even earlier

Not a straight forward answer. But it's you anyway.

PTDF strategic partnership plays little role here simply because they shortlist names after the schools are done with admission process already. It's a failure on their side.

Germany scholars this year were affected. Getting admission in UK universities is easy.

It is important to state that the scholarship is dependent on your admission status. Imagine telling you not to contact the school during application process and then instruct you to get admission after releasing the names when the admission processes are closed.

My bro, congratulations. wishing u the best . God be with you.
We German scholars are still waiting for DAAD, with the situation of things now, I don't think that we German scholars can go to Germany this year, hopefully next year Summer Sha.
I can see you are enjoying France now .
Enjoy yourself bro.

Guys make una no vex. See wetin our lecturer dropped for us oo. Just one course.

I just realized I wasted time thinking I had a B. Sc in Nigeria. What I had was equivalent to a nursery school certificate. It's been tough oo trying to catch up with the gap.

Gap from the 3 years I stayed away from books (working) and the low level of education I had when compared to foreign standard.

I have read from 5:30am till 6pm, sitting in one chair just to read and do few assignments. It's been difficult.

I think they do. I have someone studying Pharmaceutical Engineering. I don't know whether it is in public health or not but I know a friend in that department.

My school has three campuses and I don't know the departments in the other campuses. For my campus, it's just engineering courses and subatomic physics. We have three departments here, MOST, BPP and Nuclear Engineering. My course is under subatomic physics department
