What’s doc did you submit for visa application?
Njella:
In the spirit of giving back....i'll narrate my experience.
I had my baby on the 23rd of September 2019...arrived Canada 4 weeks before at 35 weeks.
First things first ,I did my visa application all by myself with guidance from this site?visa came in 8weeks(online).Bought my ticket and headed down to Scarborough,Toronto. Luckily I had a friend who lives there so accommodation was a breeze.Went to Scarborough health centre was given the fees.
Mother...2800 per day
Baby.......1650 per day
Labwork...250(125 for both mother and child)
Doctor...1500(Dr Jing Qin)
First visit 200cad subsequent visits 80cad

kindly note Scarborough health centre, rouge valley and birchmount hospital are all under Scarborough health network (shn) so they have the same prices.
The only downside being if your child stay in the NICU the fee for baby changes to about 4000cad a day instead of 1650 per day.

Then went to Humber River Hospital
Mother...2680
Baby.....825
Doctor and paediatrician...2000(Dr Ted Kosalka)
First visit 120cad subsequent visits 60cad.
Blood work...190
My scan was accepted cause I did it just before I left.

So I decided on humber river after learning about the NICU fees at Sch even though I had paid,I requested a refund.

Please note they no longer do visa on arrival for babies so I got ETC Emergency travel certificate for 100cad alongside other documents you'll submit for processing.

All fees are relative as you'll spend alittle extra here and there so don't budget based on exact amounts stated. Transportation was easy with the bus and train and ofcourse uber.

Canadian passport was as easy as Abc...just follow the site guidance and they will mail it to you...mine came In 5 days.once your baby is born you can apply for all.

Don't forget to call the airline and add babies ticket...mine was 100cad..Lufthansa air.

I believe I've covered everything. Please feel free to ask Meaningful questions I'll try my best to reply. Thankyou all.
Remain blessed!

I hail oo good people of nairaland. Pls who else is on this any solution yet. Will really appreciate
"You are required to provide proof from a competent Canadian Health Authority that formal arrangements have been made to provide payment for health services related to the birth. A letter from a family doctor will not suffice, we are requesting official documents certified by a Regional Health Authority and hospital administration that formal payment arrangements have been made."

Thanks for this,I declared at the Poe and off they sent me to the secondary inspection, the first officer asked if I had enough funds for my medicals and I said yes,
Tge second officer just asked if I had been to Canada before and I said yes for summer 2017,he checked my passport, asked where I would be staying and how I was going to get there, told him my brother inlaw was already outside waiting for me.He gave me back my passport and told me to have a lively evening, without even asking to cross check the funds.
Thank God I went with your advice ,contrary to what some people were telling me not to declare my intentions at Poe.
Just sharing my experience,
Thanks once again.came in yesterday.

Yes, you need proof to show you are pregnant. I thought I read it here sometime when the embassy requested for POP
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 12:47am On Nov 11, 2019
if decides to get letter from dr, scan abi ultrasound should go with the lettwr cuz the later shows the fact that ubr preggy as we know anyone can get anyone to write anything in a letter claiming anything they want.

So get the scan u did that shows ur due date nd how long etc

My suggested solution:

If you have had any email communication with the hospital and they have agreed to accept you and told you the process, email the hospital again and ask the hospital that can they confirm that they are certified by a Regional Health Authority and send you the formal method for how you can make your payments. You can also request a contact person at the hospital finance/admin office for international patients. Once they reply, PDF the email and attach it to the response to CIC.

If someone tries this and it works maybe you can come back and confirm. If not whoever did something that worked can share. I think this will resolve the bottle neck of visa issues and the thread can move forward.

Plz house,I applied for childbirth on the 7th August and just got a mail from the immigration section containing this:
Good day,

"This refers to your application for a temporary resident visa to Canada.

You are required to provide proof from a competent Canadian Health Authority that formal arrangements have been made to provide payment for health services related to the birth.  A letter from a family doctor will not suffice, we are requesting official documents certified by a Regional Health Authority and hospital administration that formal payment arrangements have been made."

...
Plz can anyone throw more light on this and how to go about providing what is required because I have already applied with a correspondence mail with a Canadian doc already showing their prices and all. Thanks

You have to read up as that is the norm now. Your doctor I guess is not a "Canadian Health Authority" He probably has his own private practice and charges his bills

That's where we @ right now.
you have to try to contact a doctor that will acept you n a hospital as well. Make part payment wch is refundable. The receipt and letter from the hospital should be sent to the embassy as prove. We hope this works for us though.

there is anyone here who is a US citizen that came from the US to have their baby? Please can you tell me how you went through the process of registration of birth of a US citizen born abroad. I am not sure if i would need to apply for a Canadian passport when going back to the US after having my baby or i should just apply for a US passport since i would be going back home to NY after delivery?

Hello House,

Please I urgently need an assistant because the Embassy has requested I provide proof from a competent Canadian Health Authority that formal arrangements have been made to provide payment for health services related to the birth. We are requesting official documents certified by a Regional Health Authority and administration that formal arrangements have been made.

u r not allowed to use a midwife as an international patient...Have that in mind so it is important u find a dr and have ur baby in a hospital.
