joselekas:
I took the computer-delivered IELTS on 22 November and got my results yesterday.

Listening: 7, Reading: 6, Writing: 7.5, Speaking: 8 Overall:7

I am really disappointed in the Listening and Reading results. I expected more considering my level of preparation and the questions were easy. So, I am thinking could it be because it's a Computer-Delivered test? Is the marking scheme different from PBT? I knew before the exam that with PBT you get a little edge in the first two sections but I never expected my results to be this abysmally low. I opted for the CD option because of its inherent advantage in Writing which I think is the toughest and now ....

I am thinking of re-taking the exam. Should I try the PBT? What do you guys advice I do please? I need 8.5 in Listening and 8 is Reading.

To be honest, I think something is wrong with the answers. I also gave IELTS on the 22 November and to say I was confident is an understatement... I was overconfident only to see the Listening and Reading results to be 7 and 6.5 respectively. Had 7.5 both in Writing and Speaking which I also expected because it went really well.
A friend of mine that took same place with me at Ajibode also has abysmal results in Reading and Listening.
Thank God I'm not the PA, I would have been planning to rewrite.

Is the Listening and Reading section inherently flawed to favour those doing PBT?

I don't believe the first two sections are easier with PBT as I am pretty comfortable with using a computer and never thought there'd be any remarkable difference between the two. However, I am concern about the marking scheme. How are the first two sections marked? If it's manual marking, could a human be a bit lenient in instances of missing determiner or character for example? Whereas with a computer, it's garbage in, garbage out. That is the question I am trying to find an answer to.

It's extremely difficult for me to admit I missed 9/10 questions in the Reading and Listening.

I took mine at Ajibode Ibadan too. It must be a general failure then. See I am extremely confident in these two sections that I am so sure that results do not reflect what I did.

I recommend you write BCS in March instead and get your result in June. I did this program and I regret it.
when will the registration for march start?

A little more research would have shown you that WES doesn't require WAEC anymore.

Thank you sir. But there’s no need to be condescending. There’s no harm in double checking.

Or you can do CIMA. It’s available whenever you want and the results are immediate.

I got my result on the 20th, applied for remark same day, result came on the 3rd. I only remarked the writing aspect. I think it's stated that you can't use the old one once you apply for remark. You have to wait for the result. I waited for the new result.

Thank you so much for the info. Submitted EOR 25th, picked up results today. I got the desired increase. Thank God

Hello everyone

Late COPR anouncement

Timeline:
AOR - August 3, 2018
BIL/Med pass - September 11, 2018
Remedical request - August 16, 2019
2nd med pass - September 20, 2019
ADR - October 1 (Request for new international passport for hubby, old one was expiring in 5 months)
ADR submission - October 7, 2019
PPR - October 16, 2019
Passport submission - October 21, 2019
Profile approval - November 6, 2019
Passport pick up - November 19 (No email received from VFS, had to call to confirm passport arrival)
Family size: 4

Salient points

1st Medicals - please read [https://www.nairaland.com/4657743/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/243#71022687]here[/https://www.nairaland.com/4657743/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/243#71022687]
2nd Medicals - no issues with HBP or serum creatinine but our son was just recovering from tonsillitis and had a bit of fever. We were asked to administer paracetamol and they took his temperature again after about 20 minutes (it was high normal but they recorded it like that). His tonsils were also quite inflamed and that was noted on the report. We did the medicals at Qlife on September 10, 2019 and sent the medical report form via a CSE on the same day. However, on September 17, we logged in to our account to see "Documents not received" which meant that Qlife had not uploaded the results despite our pleas. We followed up with several emails and phone and they eventually uploaded the results on September 18.

ECA Drama
Hubby and I both gained admission through direct entry (DE) and WES insisted that i sent in my pre-DE transcripts. Since i went to OOU, i knew that will be tug of war and tried convincing them to accept the transcript as i took all 100 level courses, albeit in 200 level. They refused la! I went to God in very deep prayers to get them to change their mind but the prayer only worked for hubby as his own ECA was completed without any request for pre-DE transcripts (shockingly!). Getting my diploma transcripts from OOU was a nightmare and it cost us a lot of money with the back and forth (there were weeks my hubby went to Ago-Iwoye from Ibadan up to 4 times). Las las, we sha received the transcript in June 2018 (we started the process around February 2018) and i observed that my "almighty" CAM Diploma in Marketing Communications was evaluated as "one semester" while my OOU Diploma was evaluated as a 1-year Diploma. Then, i understood why my prayer was seemingly not answered, if they had gone ahead with only my CAM Diploma, our EE plans may have been derailed because we were convinced (at the time) that CIC wouldn't accept a one semester certificate as an additional degree. At this point, i learnt again to trust that God's plans for me are always of good and not of evil.

The Battle for Passport renewal
Hubby already applied for a new passport in September before we got the request for passport renewal so we thought presenting the request letter would make NIS, Ibadan urgently oblige our request. Unfortunately, they refused to oblige the request and even insulted us, we went on twitter to humbly plead with NIS but we got no response, despite the fact that they were responding to other tweets. To the glory of God, we thought to explore the option of calling the phone numbers on their website and we were lucky to call during their nationwide servicom meeting, our case was tendered and they contacted Ibadan. My dear brothers and sisters, passport came out in less than 48 hours.

The wait
For some reason, i was convinced that our application was going to be speedy and we'd be out of Nigeria by December 2018 but CIC had grand plans for us. In January 2019, we ordered GCMS and observed that the officer noted that review was required for my job details, googled "review required" and i realised that we were in for a loooooong wait. Well, i wrote a letter of explanation clarifying the differences in terms used in my chosen NOC (0122) and my JD, I also described a typical day in my life covertly showing that JD was in line with the NOC. CSE was acknowledged and then there was utter silenceeeeeeeee.

Lesson learnt from the wait
The wait can be a blessing - I left my job in December 2018 and i included that info in my JD LOE. During this time, i have been stretched, i have grown, i have learnt and above all, i have rediscovered myself. Working in a bank for almost 8 years, i realised that i had lost myself and sight of my purpose in life and i felt an urgent need to change that as i bordering on the edge of depression; the deep sense of purpose and "what can be" made be mentally and physically restless. I know now that the phrase "nothing is impossible" is not a motivational phrase, it is a truth; nothing is impossible if only we can allow ourselves to dream and ACT in line with those dreams. I feel like 2019 has been a year of preparation and i definitely was not ready for Canada in 2018, no i know that.
Also, my kids have grown older and the older one can get into school right away, the baby sef don understand "sit down there", "don't go there" and i can codedly pinch her without feeling guilty smiley

All the best to everyone still waiting and to everyone embarking on the journey soon. Please do not allow yourself to get lost in the hustle, pursue purpose and you will find fulfillment.

Thanks to everyone who has been contributing to the forum, i have been greatly blessed and i pray that you will be blessed too.

Pleaee I'm trying to get my ICAN ATS evaluated by WES... Associate Accounting Technician is not part of the options for name of certificate. I manually inputted it. Is that fine.

Also, please confirm if it's okay to put the ATS under professional education for Institution type.

Someone should please help out. Thank you.

Hello Taiwo. Welcome to this thread.

1. You have to rewrite IELTS for a better chance at securing ITA (Invitation to apply).
You should aim for 8777 , with 8 in Listening.
You mentioned not wanting to write IELTS again, maybe you could highlight the areas you are struggling with and we could point you in the right direction. For example, if you struggle with the writing module, reach out to Johnnybravo1990
If you struggle with Listening and reading, use youtube and check out some tips here.

2. I know you asked about PNP but if you have age and degrees (the more/higher the better) on your side you could shoot straight for Express Entry instead of going the PNP route.

3. Please make Page one your "bible"

4. A summary of the process

Thank you Stencil.
