UK election results are trickling in.

I make bold to announce that I voted in less than 3 minutes.

New castle result was the first to be announced in all of UK. A Nigerian worn by wide margin.

Congratulations to Chi Onwurah

Her profile.

Chinyelu Susan Onwurah (born 12 April 1965) is a British Labour Party politician, who was elected at the 2010 general election as the Member of Parliament for Newcastle upon Tyne Central, succeeding the previous Labour MP Jim Cousins, who had decided to step down after 23 years. She is Newcastle's first black She is currently Shadow Minister for Industrial Strategy, Science and Innovation, having been appointed to the role in October 2016.

Onwurah’s mother was from Newcastle. Her father, from Nigeria, was working as a dentist while he studied at Newcastle University Medical School when they met and married in the 1950s.

After Onwurah was born in Wallsend, Northumberland, her family moved to Awka, Nigeria, in 1965 while she was still a baby. Just two years later the Biafra War broke out, bringing famine with it, forcing her mother to bring the children back to Tyneside, while her father stayed there in the Biafran army.

Onwurah graduated from Imperial College London in 1987 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. She worked in hardware and software development, product management, market development and strategy for a variety of mainly private sector companies in a number of different countries – the UK, France, the United States, Nigeria and Denmark while studying for an MBA at Manchester Business School.

Prior to entering Parliament, Onwurah was Head of Telecoms Technology at Ofcom, with a focus on broadband provision.

Why does Igbos or any group for that matter need to "dominant"?

Why is that important to you?

Will you stop this nonsense bragging.

People like you are the reason why some tribes dislike igbos.

Small achievement, you begin to brag that your tribe is the best in the world. Use your brain o

Congratulations to MP Onwurah.

But in a larger sense, of what use is her victory when her party has been seemingly swept away in a landslide by the conservatives?

Don't mind them. Their insecurity is so nauseating and off-putting. In the UK where elections are free and fair, why are Igbos (with claims of being 100 million or more) not greater in British politics than Ghanaians who are 28 million in population?

You ask yourself the m0r0nic thinking of a people that pushes them to over-celebrate what others too achieve without fanfare and take in their stride as normal and , in the end, will only conclude that deep insecurity is a mental affliction that makes the igbos embarrass themselves daily while failing to understand that God created special folks in all race, gender and ethnic groups.

Exactly. This is what majority of them fail to realise. Greatness doesn't reside in one particular ethnic group, race or gender, it cuts across every ethnic group, race and gender regardless of the size. I have come to the conclusion that majority of them are suffering from inferiority complex.

I wouldn't call her "Anambra born". When she was born in 1965, there was nothing called 'Anambra'

But her father is from present day Anambra State, which means she's Anambra born. That's what matters to me. tongue

No, she is British born with an Igbo father. She is neither Nigerian born or Anambra born. The woman might not know anything about Anambra or Nigeria

She is of mixed British/Igbo heritage. She is what you might call a British Igbo

Re: Chi Onwurah: A Nigerian Wins In UK Election As Member Of Parliament by PerkinDossier:
What you think doesn't matter to me. My concern is that her father is from Anambra state and she is from Anambra state.

Being an "American born" or "Anambra born" doesn't imply that the person must have been born in America or Anambra. It means that the person is originally from America or Anambra as the case maybe.

Read about her early life and stop forcing your gibberish on me.
