Lol! Last week I saw this little 3 year old girl crying her eye balls out while one woman held her down and the other braided her hair. I wondered how long she would have to go through that. I felt for the little one.

Judgement call to put their children through unnecessary pain because of their own idea of beauty?

Does that make sense to you? You could as well tell then to kills their children because they are the parents.

It's not for you to tell others what pain they should go through or what age that should be. That's a personal choice. It's the parents' judgment call.

I’m not a 4a or 4c .
I do know quit a lot of 4s around me and I see the constant struggle they had to go through in other to put their maine together .
Just because you are able to “fix” yours in 5 min(you’re most likely an adult) doesn’t mean a working mother with kids will want to constantly manipulate her kiddos hair everyday .
She can decide to let her kids wear Cornrows just to save time .

Can you guys even read?!

I do all that and my hair is still hard. So speak for only yourself.

Your hair type must be 4xyz in that case cheesy
I am yet to see a hair type that would be hard after it's well moisturized.

i disagree. Not all textures are substianable for daily bun maintenance. The stress of having to style everyday and make it into a bun is more compared to just making it into braids once in a week.So why not braid it once a week insead of going through the trouble every single day to style it?

So you don't have to do alot for these styles:

I agree with you,Some callous mothers subject even a two month old baby girl to the agony of hair weaving, braids,or Kiko style, chai,I hated that style even as a young girl in Secondary School,I literally lost my sleep for three nights consecutively anytime I did it then.

The annoying part is those braided styles do not fit the little girls after all the hurdles ,what is best is kids is their natural hair packed in bits or just bonded with a natural looking afro,or better still, cut the hair, not too low though, till she reaches the age she can atleast bear the pain.abeg,I cannot come and put my lovely daughter in pains.

As long as you are not the parent, it's not your business. Sorry.

If you applied the sense you claim to have, you would know what is considered unnecessary pain is completely subjective.

How does the comment relate to killing a child? What does that have to do with the point made? undecided

She should never go throw any pain at all until she's old enough to decide that she wants to do it.

And by old enough, I mean 18.

I remember that year when a little girl of less than 5 got home from the salon with very mother and started running high fever.

The little angel passed on before they could get her to a hospital. Eventually it turned out that the hair/braid that was done for her caused unbearable pain for the little girl because it was too tight.

True life story.

Some hair textures na die o. No comb fit run through them. If you like put all the grease inside jar. Seriously speaking some people have very soft scalp that cannot be put to the torture of daily styling. The best option is weave or braid to last a week or two cos even with low cut, running combs through them every day is still a menace, unless you want to he visiting barber weekly to make it very low.

Just make sure you find a good hairdresser who is used to making children's hair. Some hands have that magical touch, just do well to remind them to be easy on your LO.

With proper hair conditioner for your hair type and good moisturizer combing your hair will be like a walk in the park.
Remember to divide your hair in sections and comb from tip to scalp .

Just imagine, very sad.I totally believe because even as an adult, there are some hairstyles that one does and just feel like taking it off immediately, due to the tightness and the fact tha it makes one very uncomfortable, even to sleep na wahala, not to talk of kids.very unnecessary.

It might be you derive joy in watching parents hurt their kids. We don't!

It is their children they can do and undo. If they can hurt them for their own satisfaction and teach them to enjoy pain for other people's satisfaction, they can as well kill them.

There's nothing wrong with braiding a child's hair, as long as care is taken not to make it too tight.

It can be uncomfortable but not necessarily painful. Or it may be mildly painful for a couple of days. Experiencing pain is not going to kill the child.

Everybody experiences pain, especially en route to achieving something meaningful. You can't shield children from pain forever just to prove a point. This is unrealistic. Children should be taught resilience and not shielded and coddled all the time. The end result is comfort enough for the pain endured.

Putting somebody's hair in a bun every day for school is not feasible; little children mess their hair up a lot and natural hair can get tangled if a comb is not run through it often enough. Then when you want to comb it it will still be war.

I think a reasonable cornrow style with or without attachments is okay for a schoolgirl.

And it will also teach them from an early age about neatness.

The bun is okay as well once in a while but people who braid their kids hair shouldn't be condemned.

The write-up isn't about style or unstyled. Cornrows can be done without pain for school.

No one is judging anyone, the point is that no responsible mom should sit and watch her daughter endure pain for hours to look stylish with these over-do hairstyles.

It has no go-around. No justification for letting your daughter cry and fall sick because of hair.

Shave the darned thing off till she's grown up.
thanks, you actually understood this write up

God bless you my dear
I wonder too!

Honestly I wonder what mothers gain seeing their kids cry endlessly over one useless awkward style that has no meaning. At the end the child looks like one lil masquerade.
When I was lil, I had low cut till I was done with ssce, that's when I started growing hair and plaiting with thread, then with weaves.

And there is one other thing I notice as well. You see mothers wearing seductive dresses like jumpsuit, halter neck tops, short tight knickers on their kids, especially robust kids. And I wonder what do this kind of mother want for her baby girl?

I know of a three years old girl, who is so robust with fine face, she wore jumpsuit, figure hugging jumpsuit. Come and see the assz shaking angry , like to water assz in ladies, because she has extra large bum bum for her age.

And I'm like if someone rapes her daughter now, she will be crying foul and asking for compensation.

For God sakes! Why wear female kids seductive dresses?

Why? angry
Instead of protecting the female child, the mother is exposing her to predators out there.
Are they stylishly waiting for men to rape the lil girls, so they can cry crocodile tears? And ask for compensation @the police station?

For God sakes, protect your girl child!! Don't expose her to all sorts out there.

It's annoying!

Logical thinking is clearly a struggle for you.
Cos I don't understand how choosing to plait a child's hair = hurting them for your satisfaction.

Find someone else to quote / engage with abeg, I can't be wasting my time.

I hate the stress of putting a child through pain just to make hair. Low cut all the way, till that girl child is old enough to go to the saloon herself without me coercing her to make the hair and loosen the hair for a new hair style. Kai!

I didn't what? I stated very clearly earlier that I do not care, if the child's hair is braided or in a bun. I'm very aware of the fact that natural hair is time consuming, since mine is as well. However, I do have a problem with the pain are lot of kids have to go through just in the name of 'fashion'. Let kids be kids and educate yourself on afros instead of just Brazilian wigs

It's not your place to teach anyone what they should do with their child's hair. You are free to have an opinion but you CANNOT teach someone else, it's not your business.

Yes, I am speaking for myself, as you have spoken for yourself.
I don't have chemically treated 4C hair, and neither do my kids.
So combing it is always a challenge no matter the amount of conditioner you put before washing, after washing- during steaming (not heated steaming but just put shower cap with your treatment over 30minutes) and even during styling. Its always painful, perhaps a bit exaggerated in some children because just touching the hair with your fingers, without even trying to braid it will make them start shouting. This isn't just my experience, butvalso for many mothers with female children.
Comparing shaving a boy's hair to plaiting a girl's hair is a wrong comparison btw OP. You don't pull the scalp while shaving

What type of hair product do you use for your 4c hair ?
