Get your facts and evidence right, involve your bank and his bank.

Then sit back and watch him cough out the money.

When his account(s) is blocked, he will run to the bank and the rest will be story.

The old man's age is an added advantage in drawing the bankers attention

Get the authorities involved, use his BVN to track and flag all his accounts. Believe me he will start begging you. I have seen it done.

Get the account details, get a police investigation to commence on that account which would be flagged by the bank, to catch anyone who tries to withdraw money or make further operations on that account. The account has a mobile phone number. The police should track that number with the communication network. Now the bank would tell the police how much is in the account. Then get a court order to remove the money from the account, back to the sender's account. Done this on several occasions and it works fine.

write a petition against the fraudster to the Efcc, or u could report to the police but mind u, Nigeria police go first open business for una head. So going through the Efcc will be better bcus dey won't ask for a cent but u will have to be patient, bcus it could be up to 2 weeks b4 dey respond to your petition. If u decide to go to d bank by urself, dey won't mind u. They will always ask for a court order b4 dey can release d fraudster account details and block d account.
It doesn't fall within the quotient of the amount that EFCC can handle in other words the amount is too nibble for EFCC case.

Similar occurrence happened to a friend of mine two days ago but through a hacked facebook account. The hacker impersonated a the owner of the acct (younger friend to my friend) and introduced my friend into a ponzi scheme which my friend detested and hate so much. But he made a mistake by trying to educate the impersonating scammer about ponzi but ended up being hypnotized. Before my guy could wake up, 60k has already been sent to the scammer(very young boy o). And this scammer has been using the same approach to lure other people on the contact list of the hacked account.

I've helped my guy report to efcc through twitter, sent mails to efcc and police special fraud squad. Efcc hasnt replied but police has acknowledged the mail.

Also been tagging people (soft target) to use report button for the account on facebook.

The scammer's details is down below in case he comes your way accidentally...

It was on 6th January that one Mr. Nelson shared about a business investment in a C.C.C (celestial church of Christ) WhatsApp group that gives 100% return interest for a period of 24 hours that's if you invest 100k you will get 200k within 24hours. My neighbour, a man in his late 60's fell for it and sent 100k to him. After the transaction, he called Nelson to confirm if he has received the money but he said no, Nelson now told him to forward his debit alert to him to confirm that he has sent it without knowing that he just wanted to see his account balance which was 47k. Nelson now told him to send the remaining 46k that he'll help him to complete it 50k so that the total investment will be 150k which will yield 300k within 24hrs, he obliged and sent the 46k. On seeing the alert, Nelson now told him if he can see anyone that can borrow him 100k so that it will be 250k to get 500k. That was when it dawned on him that its fraud. He said he doesn't know anyone that can borrow him such amount that if he can't work with the 146k that he should send him back his money. Its almost 3days now and he hasn't sent the money. Please how can this money be recovered? Thanks
This is a lost cause, next time don't allow greed take over, even people we meet physically and have dealings with sometimes scam up talk more of an unknown person that wants to double your money for you. Even if you involve EFCC, police and court you might end up spending more than the money you lost and still not get the original money back. The lawyers of the scammer can claim you had a business deal and the deal did not yield profit that's why you were not paid(since in business it's either profit lost or breaking even) and they might require you bring documents like undertaking that compeled the scammer to pay you back should the business fail. Leave him to your Creator and continue doing legitimate work or business and kill greed of quick wealth in you and avoid gambling.

Fraudsters don't use one account twice to defraud. Immediately they received money, they withdraw all and that is the end of using such account
YINKS89:
Report to the police and take it to the Bank so that the account money was sent to would be blocked ...that's if the man hasn't withdraw the money

In my own case the fraudster hacked into our WhatsApp Christian platform and asked us to invest to get our profit in the next one hour. Being a trusted platform I invested 50k, not quite long, the admin raised alarm that there was an intruder that hacked into our midst. Before I could realized what was happening, it was too late as I have made the transaction. Just as someone pointed out that only the greedy could fall victim of such scammers. I strongly believe its should be generalise because in my own case it was a problem of trust.

You can't recover money from a fraudster unless he's caught. They normally cover their tracks very well shocked

He can recover the money if he is ready to spend and stress.
Let him report the case to the Police with his lawyer and they will get Court injunction that will make the recipient's bank releases the details of the scammer. such as: Full name, Address, Phone number, BVN. Then the Police complete the work by arresting and prosecuting him.

I've never fallen for a scam so I don't know how to help.

I found myself in a telegram group that claims to be a First Bank of Nigeria investment group. Immediately, I jumped on Twitter and asked official fbn about the group and they replied me privately.

There's an easy way to spot scam investments; if it sounds too good to be true then it is.

People only pay money in exchange for benefit. If someone tells of a 'business' that has no product, service or benefit to sell to anyone then it isn't a business. It's a scam!

Oyinbo overrated Nigerians that's why they came with GNLD to pretend as if it's a business scheme. Now they've seen that most Nigerians are fools so MMM didn't even come with any product.
u mean gnld don't have any products?

Most times we fall for all this scam because of our Greed . Is it magic that they will use to double your money ? Well , my advice is ,take the Guy’s account number to your bank and explain to your account officer or customer care . If you have a lawyer ask him to get a court order for you or you can get it yourself from a Magistrate court . The order should state that Your money should be returned to you from that account. Just pray that the scammer did not withdraw all the money but if he did ,no fear . cheesy You are not the only one that will fall for his trick . His account would be placed under watch and he will be barred from withdrawing any money sent into the account .

Re: How Can One Recover Money From A Fraudster? by PatriotTemidayo: 8:56am On Jan 10, 2020
If it was in a WhatsApp group, there must be a phone number attached to the fraudster's account, Embrace tracking and triangulation.

If you sent money into a bank account, what bank was it and what account number, go to the police, lay a complain and ask them to help you get a magistrate injunction to flag the account.

If you have someone in a bank, approach the bank legally and root for the person BVN, which is attached to every other bank account that they own. Once you can get the person's details, flag other bank accounts attached to the person's BVN.

And now that NIN is compulsory, tracking fraudster is so easy.
