South Leaders To Malami: Why Is Amotekun Illegal & Hisbah Legal? by hisexcellency34: 3:59am On Jan 15, 2020
The Southern and Middle Belt leaders have rejected the directive of Abubakar Malami SAN declaring Operation Amotekun as illegal, describing the statement as an abuse of office.

In a statement signed by Yinka Odumakin (South-West); Gen CRU Iherike (South-East); Senator Bassey Henshaw (South-South) and Dr Isuwa Dogo (Middle Belt), the leaders said the right to preserve one’s life cannot be under any exclusive list.

“The attention of the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF) has been drawn to the illegal diktat by the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami SAN declaring Amotekun, the South-West security (not military or police) outfit illegal.

We consider his action as an abuse of office to suppress the rights of federating units to secure themselves and in furtherance of the widely – held suspicion that sections of the country are deliberately being rendered vulnerable for herdsmen and other criminals by the Federal Government.

“We ask the Governors of the South-West to ignore Malami and allow him to go to court to challenge their decision as he cannot constitute himself as a court over elected governors. We are not under military rule.

The right to preserve your life cannot be under any exclusive list other than the list of those who have no value for human lives.

“The ultra vire action of the AGF has further exposed Nigeria as a country under command and control and governed by a conquest mentality.

“We ask Malami to tell us what makes Amotekun illegal and Hisbah legal.

“He should further explain to us what makes Civilian JTF legal in the North East where there is war and in Zamfara and Katsina and Kano where there is no war, while Amotekun is his only illegal take.

“This is a defining moment to decide if we are under segregation and different laws in the country,” the statement read.

Nice one! Remain resolute people.Waiting for answers. The Nigerian constitution does not applied to the core northern states but the Sharia system does.

So no reasonable Nigerian or region should accept any shitcrap this govt or any of its agent throw @ them. Security is absolutely zero in Nigeria today.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Afteral amotekun's sole aim is to protect the people and tame the evil operations of the bandits and the kidnappers.
The hypocrisy of this regime is second to none!

Why can some section of the country decide to follow their own set of laws within a country which has its own laws under the guise of sharia. They didn’t know what precedence they were setting when they started fanatical moves. Now, any region can decide to abide by some laws within the laws of Nigeria and it will be perfectly ok. We can also decide to have a constituted and instituted group like the Hisbah in our regions too. Malami ko, malaria ni.

A President is only as good as what he can provide for his people. When people stop following you or listening to you because you have refused to provide solutions, you become a lame duck. This government has failed in protecting the lives of Nigerians so they better keep shut! And keep chasing the useless shadows they are chasing. They have to have the most unintelligent kitchen cabinet Nigeria has ever seen.

There is no sincerity from the federal government. Why favour a particular section? What the federal government fails to understand is that, tyranny and oppression of the south and middle belt may lead to rebellion.

Lol they should ignore it and see if the police decide to arrest them. When will be landmark supreme court ruling. If the supreme court rules against Amotekun and other similar organizations amending is the only option. It's time everyone pick a side on this issue.

The funny thing to remember is there's no state prisons to bring suspects. The states have build their own detention facilities if they're serious. That also requires constitutional amendment.

When there's a fight for the SE, they face their fight but when there's one for the SW, they hide behind or look for a gang to help them.
Everyone knows that if this amotekun issue is an Igbo thing, Yorubas would've mocked and abandoned them but since it's their thing, they have suddenly remembered there's a word like Southerners.

The deceit and pretence must stop this year. sad

If the south and north central wanted it they would 1 more state for the constitutional amendment. There's no need for any rebellion. Deleting items 2, 45 and 48 from exclusive list solves issue. I say item two because the federal government regulates who's allowed to hold guns. (Even the security forces)

You need 2/3 of NASS.
2/3 of all state assemblies to vote in favor of amendment.

Exclusive Legislative List Items:
2. Arms, ammunition and explosives.
45. Police and other government security services established by law.
48. Prisons
68. Any matter incidental or supplementary to any matter mentioned elsewhere in this list.

It's not a tribal issue (as Tribal bigots like you can not think beyond tribalism) but the fight for the right to secure each federating unit.

Each Regional ethnic groups drumming support of Amotekun are doing so because the establishment is in line with their stand on True Federalism.

The South-South and the North Central are also in support showing that this is not Yoruba Vs Igbos affairs.

Enugu State constituted Forest Guards and Benue State had Anti-Open grazing Marshall.

The main thing here is that the Federalism in Nigeria is been tested and challenged.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu warned you all about this.

The simple truth is that, every region in Nigeria are tired of this Demonic Government.

Thank GOD that the S-W and the S-E are on the same page.

It's hi time we take Tribalism and e-war aside, and work for the betterment of our people. undecided

However way these whole bruhaha sways, one incontrovertible fact remains that the North will continue fu*king the South in the aSS, until the South gets sense by force, and unite to curb their (the Northern) madness once and for all.

Nice and wonderful submission. Suprised to meet a sound mind since I started reading all the comments here.

Meanwhile , even some Igbos here who feel they are more educated than their forefathers and has all faculties of thinking at nano level will tell us I am happy Igbos and Yoruba are on same level(cherez) Yorubas can see that Igbos are not their enemies (Dnspro)....and hosts of others who doesn't understand or know the difference between their right and wrong.

Igbos and Yorubas are not and will never be on sane level because nobody caters for others welfare.

Had it been we are talking if Biafra secret service here, who on earth won't know what their comments and submission will be or how they will view it.

Nairaland are full if pathetic emotionalist who doesn't know their right from left.

If FG says Amotekun is illegal then it is illegal and should be disbanded.

The statement clearly shows the disunity within your immediate family and let me not even talk of your tribe but you quick to rush to SW looking for unity or whether na cohesion.

Reason because you feel you more educated. This 21st everyone is looking for ways up all your heading is calculating is SW.

It is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf that Nigeria is just a union of tens and hundreds of tribes to form a country.

What disunity is Malami talking about?
