I have a 2.89 CGPA in a BA English degree. Does it make sense to do Ontario Graduate college certificate in Canada.?

What program are you going there to study? From the wealth of my experience which I enjoyed for the past years on this thread, I have come to understand that international students from Nigeria heading to this college find it very difficult to secure VISA in view of the fact that the visa officers have this perception that Nigerians are using this route (gaining an ordinary diploma acceptance letter from the college) as a means to facilitate entry into canada rather than educational advancement. I would advise you look for a better institution, apply for a lucrative program and increase your chances of securing a study visa to Canada.

My best wishes are with you.

It will end in praises.

Thank you for your reply I chose the school because of the fee way cheaper than others I found online I’m an economics graduate and looking for masters in social/ management science business Administration/ marketing something in that field. Can you recommend schools for me please? With tuition not too high and probably more accepted by visa officers thanks. And my CGPA from the university is 3.38 is it good enough also.

Devoid of any unnecessary lies and not trying to be motivational.
Oga that grade cannot get you admitted, even if you get admitted , the highest hurdle is with the VO.

College wants your money, they will admit you, with their so expensive prices, and ask you to pay some money before Visa letter, when you get rejected and want your money , they wont give you 100%.

Look for a way to upgrade that GPA around here first or look else where, my 10 cents, always sarcastic.

The limited employment prospects includes during studies and also after graduation, this is because the province doesn't have much population (156,947) as at (2019), there are few industrial companies that can offer you employment and its a maritime province which is been surrounded by water. You may work your ass off to secure a job in the province, even if you're able to get a job, the pay scale will be minimal as compared to someone working in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba. More importantly is the fact that securing a study Visa will be very difficult with such school, in as much as the visa officer will be of the notion that you're seeking study permit as a means to abscond to Canada without future plans of returning home after studies. To sum it up, Holland College is not a popular institution for international students, this also will be a negative factor during the visa officer's assessment.

Please do have a rethink about your plans of migrating to Canada for studies.

It will end in praises.

While I respect your long term contribution and advice on this platform, where I have problem with you is when you’re being totally subjective. It is true PEI is a small province but that doesn’t mean everything you said about the province and that college is true. Why would you just advised someone outrightly to let go; even if that’s what God’s want for him/her. I was almost given wrong advice in 2018. Let me clear this notion and/or add this;

1. I currently study in PEI, and I know many International students in holland college. In fact international students makes more than 40 percent of both schools. Nigerians are one of the major top international students. Chinese and Indians are trooping in more, their populations are going up in the province-wide. Most of the properties are bought by the Chinese. The province is very diversed. You will meet the Caribbean, Chinese, Indian, African, etc.

2. The province is one of the easiest to get PR after study as Intl student. The provincial Nominee is the easiest in the whole of Canada you can read about it. It’s very easy for Intl students to get PR and later japa if they want. Thousands of Indian students travel from Toronto and other province after studies to the province to work one year to get PR. Even if your work is in Category C and D you can file for PR after study. Being an Intl student from that region makes your PR very easy, if you don’t break any law.

3. I got a govt. job as a student within one month in that province, and many other students working for the provincial and federal govt. on per time basis. There other jobs like Walmart and the rest. You will definitely get as a student job at most in one month. Just make Indeed.ca your friend. There are no much industrial jobs but there lots of sales jobs and the likes as it applies in most provinces for student jobs. Honestly I have not met a student who looked for more than one month for student jobs.

4. Like every province, students are most often paid minimum wage of the province everywhere. The minimum wage of this province is $12.25 which is better than many other provinces in Canada that pays less that amount.

5. The province is the smallest and the birth place of confederation in Canada. It’s a major tourist destination in canada.

6. It’s easier to get visa to this schools, cos the tuition ain’t killing and also the number of people applying are not large. Most people from west Africa got their visa approved. It’s the same standard anywhere. If your documents is alright and God’s grace on your side. You ll be good.

7. Most of the students that finished from the college get internship and work based practical and sometimes are retained. It might not be general for anybody. Any Canada govt. approved school is recognized and has equal opportunity.

8. Truly it’s in the maritime and rural, but the cost of living and accommodation is pretty low too. Big city also come with its cost of living.

I am not disputing or challenging your knowledge @frank, I just want us to give a balance information and let people decide. It’s a great province but not a mega city like Toronto and Ottawa and Vancouver. It’s just like comparing people living in Lagos(Toronto) and Oshogbo(Charlottetown). There are poor and rich people in both city, but you can find your place.
Pls let people choose! Thanks Frank for your ceaseless contribution.

You have spoken very very well, my brother.

PEI, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador, Newbrunswick are in the Atlantic region, getting your PR from these places after studies are easy. Holland college is in PEI (Prince Edward Island)

Meanwhile, I need info about MUN, Do you know anything about them?

If telling people to be more sensible is a crime , and it derails or kills the thread, i wonder what will.

You think getting a visa now in Nigeria has to do with motivation? Ok, lets agree it is, then 1 out of 100 will get a visa because it has to be spiritual.

People are wasting their monies applying for visa, People who cannot get visa , people who wouldn't even get a Dubai Visa.

Is it a crime if we add some quality control, advise people and even tell people not to apply for VISA at all? abi is this marketing firm for Canadian Government ?

Do you know the number of applications CANADA gets today? it was 10 times what it Got in January 2019, to what end? because USA visa is now a no go area, what happens next.... The same USA treatment will eventually creep in.

We Nigerians know how to kill opportunities, while you sit with your key pad and type prayers instead of realities on ground, less than 2% get study permit since Sept 2019 till date... and this is a good score?

Take this thread for example, how many successful visa was announced on this Thread number? how many application was announced?

we need to solve our problems everywhere we can in this country, even on Nairaland, it is not funny.

Bsc... Masters .. in Canada ... we all get the jerk! and the VOs too get it, so therefore you need to convince them thoroughly that education is what will take you to Canada and that the reason you want to spend that money,.... Any PHD that was rejected on this thread should raise a hand!!!

As much as we keep pushing people not to give up, lets also look deep into their chances and make them save some money, i believe in determination, but you cannot be determined by fallacy.

How successful is the Study permit this days? Let someone do a research.

This is a typical example....

If this denial was in less than 2 year of the earlier rejection ,.... Your case is settled even before applying.

Always stick to your gun... the first rejection has nothing to do with your course, i don't know your situation but i put it to you.

Did you ask for GCMNOTES?

That is the only place you could have seen the solution and most of the Time, ... The VO will write in your GCMNOTES, that Your educational plan is not "reasonable" if you see that, then don't apply for Visa with a change in program, "stick to your Gun" and adjust your SOP!

If you change your program,.... You will remember me.

You can email me. However pls when it comes to documentations and others, follow the ideas given by Frank and others on the platform. I only clarified his personal opinion about the maritime especially PEI where I know student earning as much as c24 per hour especially those IT guys beyond the minimum wage. I know someone- a NIGERIA currently in holland college who just got employment with the province after graduating. One of the Program Cordinator for the chamber of commerce in the province is a NIGERIA who graduated recently you can check online. So follow your heart, put in good application as they have advised and here you go with God on your side. Opportunities are everywhere. When I say it’s rural, it’s not a NIGERIA definition of rural lol... it has all the basic and life amenities. There is nothing you are looking for in Toronto you won’t find in Charlottetown. Thanks
