When he couldn’t afford to keep his wife in the hospital anymore, He had prayed and fasted for her to get better but nothing worked. It was as if the God they was dead and deaf.
One of his former customers introduced him to a shaman. He reluctantly used the medicine the man gave him and in days his wife got better. He felt guilty for consulting a witch doctor and repented and promised he would never resort to such diabolical means again.
It was a February Thanksgiving service it happened. He and his family were just returning from church. His wife had gone across the street to get them bottles of water. She was crossing the road when a Jeep came out of nowhere and hit his wife and she died on the spot. On a Sunday. After he and his wife just praised the God that was supposed to protect them. He gave up on God then.
His life was peaceful afterwards. His business bounced back slowly but steadily. He nurtured his daughter carefully instilling manners in her. He wanted her to become the woman her mother was. Everything was fine till she came home from work one day and tried to preach to him. Only the heavens knew where she got dragged into the craze of worshipping a God that didn’t care. After rebuffing her over and over again, she started giving him attitude, being rude and impertinent. She started acting holier than the pope with him. The father who had raised her.
He had put up with her attitude till she came one day with a man in tow, another born again mad man, that she was getting married. He had immediately put his foot down. Then the next thing he heard they had gotten married behind his back. And the most humiliating part of it all was that his neighbours knew his own daughter had gotten married before he did. Then he found out she had hired people to act as her parents at her wedding.

He had been enraged and he wanted to teach her a lesson. He wanted her to swallow her words. He wanted to show her just how despicable born again Christians could be. He wanted his daughter to come back crying to him that he had been right. But she never did. He had been so convinced the witch doctor had defrauded him of thousands of naira.
