One of these doctors is charged with using an overdose of ketamine to kill a patient. I can attest from direct first hand experience, that ketamine is by far the most terrifying drug in use as a medical anesthetic, and I would not be surprised if it was simply FEAR and TERROR that killed that patient.

Ketamine paralyses the patient completely, yet leaves them in a state of hallucinatory confusion, in which fear of an intensity never previously experienced, can overcome victims' rational thought processes entirely, and leave them at the mercy of any drug-induced panic attack that arises in their crazed mind.

Under the effects of ketamine while doctors panel-beat my innards, I became utterly convinced that my intestines where being pulled out methodically, and that I was then in the process of being buried alive as I mouthed silent screams. For the temporary madness it induced in my mind, I would rather die, than ever be dosed with that chit again.

The problem with we Nigerians is that we are quick to discredit ourselves. So much hate.

The doctors were wrong, human lives were lost.
Does that take away the fact that they've been saving plenty lives for years?
They have been punished by a Rule that has been set and people are here ranting.
Please if you are badly hurt by the verdict eh, kindly go and correct it.

Travel the world and you'll find out that the so-called advanced countries have cases like this.
But in our case, its as if hell was let loose!!

You won't blame the government that has refused to improve the health sector.
Let me tell you, if not for the diligence of some doctors here, people will die from very curable illnesses. Nigeria does not have 1 world class hospital!!!

Thanks so much for this. In fact, in my one year of practice in this new clime, I've only got a hand over from a theatre nurse of a patient they used ketamine on, and when I heard the word ketamine, I opened my ears wide. These guys have everything yanfuyanfu, unlike in our country where ketamine and heavy Marcaine are the only available options. The best and most readily available drug for him to use could have been ketamine in naija. No thanks to the political clime of Nigeria that doesn't allow all professionals to grow in their areas. Our pharmacists too need to step up their games. They're only dispensers in Nigeria, nothing more.

I guess you can say that about Pharmacists now that you are in a sane country where everyone sticks to their professional area. In Nigeria, Doctors diagnose, prescribe and dispense. Pharmacists also diagnose, prescribe and dispense. The system of checks and balances are bypassed.
Nigerians usually think they are clever. In the end they find out they are clever by half.

REASONS why Nigerian doctors are hated and envied:

1. They earn more than every other profession in govt & public service.

2. So many people wished they could become doctors but that dream never materialized. They attempted JAMB/WAEC several times, but their performance was below the score required for admission into medical school. And so whenever they see a medical doctor they remember their failed dreams and feel so bad and jealous.

3. Doctors all over the world are misinterpreted and misjudged as being arrogant, proud and act as gods. This is absolutely false. They only have high self esteem, great confidence & radiance and try to live a moderate fulfilling life to cover for their meagre income which is below expectation for the status of a doctor especially in Nigeria.

4. Doctors generally look attractive, well dressed in cooperate wears and look gorgeous in their white ward coats with stethoscope hanging over their shoulders. This causes attraction from opposite sex and feeling of envy from people around.

5. Doctors are humans. They attend to pressing needs as well. They can't satisfy everyone at the same time. They do their best, yet patients and their relatives want d doctor to always be with the patient 24/7. Its impossible. Doctors are caring &hardworking and always want to be shown gratitude and love for their selfless service to humanity..
