Thanks so much. Btw, I never meant save the money from menial jobs as a student...I was asking regarding to the Block account...I expected to work and take care of basic bills while the money from the Block account can be saved...so I can refund it to my uncle who wants to help me with the money as loan.

I understand after school when one can work full time, but I don’t mind during schooling working and making money for basic bills even if I don’t have enough to save...it’s the Block Account money I was talking about.

How’s this possible?

Wow. If one can’t survive with menial jobs as a student then I don’t think coming over to Germany to study is worth it.
Because the idea of school and working abroad to me was to work little jobs to take care of basic bills while schooling it’s not gonna be easy and won’t make sense me school in Germany while requesting for money from my poor Mama.

Secondly, I’ll definitely not tell Germany I borrowed money for the Block account, I’m just stating my reality.
oh Come... on, don't get discouraged. You can do it, you can work up the maximum time and spend less, live in hostel or with few people outside campus (Africans probably) but, don't kill yourself with work. If you graduate and get a decent job, you'll make up some money to cover your uncle's funds.

When you say basic bills that's food and housing right, all other bills will be taken from the block account right reserving some there too.

my guy if things were good here that money is a lot because those Europeans countries don't have resources and your money is their natural resources. We that have so much resources if was managed well our exchange rate will be so high and you won't even need to run out of the country it will be the Europeans queuing up at our embassies abroad.

Plus 323k is a lot depending on where you leave in this country.
And I also think it's a salary amount for our most middle class.

The Blackman has no face and until there is a single developed black majority country the black man will continue to be mocked.

See how they are queuing up and always looking for which white man country to run to. Shameless set of people.

I read on this thread someone said, houses are cheaper in East Germany. If I could be paying €245 Euro per month for a 3 room shared apartment in Magdeburg, Germany and I have colleagues paying €300 per month for rent. That is not cheap.
Secondly, do not believe all information here. I could remember, before going to OVGU Magdeburg. A lot of people said, there are no jobs.
In few days time, I will be signing a second contract with another job agency.

My advice is, ask those people living in the city of your destination questions about the current situation. Do not rely on old information.

Are you saying student jobs can’t take care of these basic bills??

So what’s the point of working and studying concept? When the work can’t take care of your basic bills

So after exhausting a large chunk of my Block Account, what would I use to renew the next year.

I’m about applying for Germany, I went to the embassy yesterday to certify my certificates but with this I am hearing here, I don’t think it’s worth it because I don’t want to come over there and be stranded.

I have an uncle who’s I wrote and undertaking to lend me the money, hoping when I get over there as soon as I can get a job to to take care of my bill I’ll save up the Block account so I can refund.

This I am hearing is scary.

PS (I’m not looking for money for clubbing, buy cars or for luxury while studying.

The student jobs can take care of your basic need. It depends on the kind of contracts and company/agency you work with. Students earn more than €450 in a month.

What is the need of traveling to Germany to study if you don't have fund. Menial Jobs should cover some portion of your living expenses like food and entertainment, if you want to cover all expenses you'll have to work full-time on a real decent paying job. The idea of using your uncle's funds as a pass might not help you

This means that one can only comfortably study and live a good life in Germany with about N4.5m to spend annually.

I'm not talking about clubbing or extravagant lifestyle, if you are studying in most developed countries you'll need funds to cover your stay. If you have a scholarship that's going to be helpful. Okay answer this : Do you think menial Jobs can cover all expenses for a student yearly

I read students can earn up to €500 monthly while doing menial jobs with limited hours.
From all I read too, €500 monthly would take of ones basic bills as a student.

But it’s better to hear from ppl who’re over there experiencing it or have experienced it...that’s why this thread just discouraged me because I can tell you have either studied or studying in Germany

I don’t need anything else at least maybe after studies then I can talk of getting luxuries. My main aim to get out of this shit hole but I don’t want to get stranded over there.

Well that depends on the job u get, u might not be able to leave ur block account untouched in the first 2 to 3 months before u get your work permit.... your basic expenses on a low budget would be something like this... (rent 250euros, health insurance depending on the on ur age and ur medical need which only u understands(between 25 and 106euros), tv and radio access (lets say 17.5euros) if u do a flatshare it will be lesser, general upkeep including feeding n toiletries (150euros). depending on ur city and ur knowledge of german, u should be able to get 500euros a month working part time.
but if u go cities like munich, frankfurt, hamburg, multiply that rent i mentioned by 2 or 3 for shared apartment o....the good side is u should also earn more in bigger cities..most importantly no let anybody paint germany or any developed nation as where u pick money on the street...the only thing is everything works and ur hardwork will get u rewards.....schooling in germany n working no easy , nobody pays free money before u earn, u go work d work.....but the work dey

Nope, I didn't discouraged you. There is a guy here (a Nigerian too) he traveled few years back, had worked in Germany, he do work in a vehicle company and earn a living from it not, menial Jobs. He is currently working on his house here, so I assume he would be back anytime soon. If you want to go there and work as a student you can go ahead, any student who wants to work (with permit) can do that to acquire some dough.

Probably you didn't get the message, working menial jobs isn't supposed to make you Rich or extravagant, no no no, not that. I mean what you gain from menial Jobs isn't enough that you will need assistance from your block account, if you are done with your studies; you can raise funds later to pay your uncle. To make it easier do this, for housing do split bills w/ somebody (find someone with like mind), cook at home but, you can eat outside if you want (once in a while), you can reduce transportation if you have a bike/cool bicycle don't shame oo. Sadly just pay health insurance even though you'll be fine through out , you can never tell. You can buy a huge food stuff or bulky items don't worry, you'll spend less later as having items like this at hand shouldn't bother you with market time. Holiday time don't return home, utilise it to make some cash that will help you in the next semester

Thank you very much for your detailed explanations. I know very well life is not easy home and abroad...but all I needed to be sure was if it’s possible I get a job that can take care of my basic bills, these bills you mentioned above is all I need at least for my time as a student.
Using my Block account for 2-3 months before getting my work permit or a job is very much understandable but as long as I’ll get a job and save up my BA....that’s all I needed to know.

So how would one renew his/her visa the next year? I hear you’ll need to present a BA again? For the next year?
