Edo is the only place where the king is truly king.

The documented history of the bini kingdom is over 1000 years old. Established norms and traditions that are maintained to this day

That's not too late compare to some yoruba kingdoms.

let oba of Benin do anyhow first, that is when he will know that. kneeling down by a Governor or President is just formality.
ever heard of the military administrator, captain oyearugbulem that threatened to depose oba of benin??.....he later begged uncontrollably after Benin chiefs threatened to launch spiritual attack on him and later died mysteriously

The governor can still remove the king. The king just has to know where his power ends and how to keep his mouth shut

That was during election campaign when Obaseki was a nobody. He won't kneel to greet him now

You cant compare a political king and an Hereditary King. They are different. The Oba of Benin and Alaafin of Oyo are custodian of power and the thrown is well respected by the citizen of the locality. The Governor that would want to humiliate them will never be born....‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️

So? In the UK, you don't kneel to greet the Queen...Different cultures, different traditions...

What I believe is that no king is greater than the government, if you have a crazy governor in power he will do and un do to any king no matter the status. it might later have repercussion on him and his household but what has spoit has spoilt

Sure... Did abacha not remove the sultan of sokoto...nothing happened after that incidence.

Make the Oba of Bini involve himself in politics and see what happens to him and his throne.

Alaafin and Oba of Benin are from the lineage of Oranmiyan, the first Alaafin of Oyo-Ile ,hence both are deities!

Oba of Benin is the elder brother to Alafin of oyo

Popular social media enthusiast, Tunde Ednut has stated that in Benin city, Edo state, governors kneels to greet the king but in other kingdoms, the king shivers before the governor.

Speaking in an Instagram post, Ednut shared a photo of Governor Godwin Obaseki kneeling before Oba of Benin...

Obaseki knelt because he's a Benin man and quite stupid too. An Esan or Etsako governor would never kneel for that dude

For benin oba is like our creator, we worship and adore him. You can't be successful if you disrespect your oba. You may be governor or president but we are oba's children. By law we may obey you and go to the stream but only our father go force us drink water grin grin
