Giving out your account number and only your name attach does not pose any threat. it is only when you give out ATM card number, bvn and pin number you can be endangered.

giving out your account number to a business partner and people you know is not dangerous

posting it online, is dangerous, you can be use as a money mule and when caught, you will be arrested.

You need more research on how fraud and waya waya are done... All these accounts thrown here are safe!!!!!!... Unless the accounts owner is involved!!!!!.. No fraudster will just pick up an account here and transfer them stolen funds there without first involving you.. Jeez!!

I will not say anything here so that I wouldn't teach all these small small boys Yahoo biz. The way you are sounding like authority is appalling.

That's not true, so why are scammer and terrorists not using the government, church and other corporate account details posted everywhere? You need to divulge more to be used as a courier. Millions or bank accounts are available or just for asking.

Oga, this fraudsters are just using people's psych to get into them. Most people posting accounts on a faceless forum here are hungry and desperate. And that makes them vulnerable. And these are the major thing these fraudsters take advantage of. By simply decieving their victim like I narrated above.
Re: Dangers Of Exposing Your Bank Details Online? by uglodoh(f): 4:33pm On Mar 29, 2020
joe4christ:

Its not safe Oga. The person can transfer 10million naira into your account and private chat you that he made a mistake, that he wanted sending 100k but pressed more digits cos he was drunk. That he will strike a deal that you withdraw probably 8million and meet him at a public place while you keep the remaining 2 million naira as your gift for being a good honest guy who could be willing to return his money despite his error.
Not knowing you're been used and later you will get into trouble with anti graft and fraud agencies while the main fraudstars escape.

How did the person get the person's phone number if only he dropped his account number number on a faceless forum.

Somebody you don't know promises u 10k via give away then u get alert of 10m. He tells u he made a mistake and then tells u to withdraw the 10m, pack it in a brief case, take 100k out of it as yours then meet him wherever he is to deliver the briefcase AND YOU AGREE. Are you now an accomplice in a grand money laundering conspiracy or not?

Is this even possible when they don't know each other, the other party can even collect the 10m and block all access to them.

so how come effc have arrested people collecting cash on behalf of people they dont know?

You are at fault, if you collect cash from people you don't know!!!.. If someone transfers money to your account, it is your imperative and decision to know where the money comes from and you can then decide what to do with the money.. But to say dropping of accounts will make fraudsters use your account... Na lie!!!.. How will they collect it?
You have to think out of the box...

Money could be transferred to your account and then you are in deep shit...

Have you considered that you can be kidnapped and forced to pull out the money?

The best advice is to avoid exposing your account matters online unless you must.

Don't bait fraudsters and evil men ..You may not be able to control the chain reaction.

Your bank account is like your personal identity.

Posting bank accounts online is dangerous.

You could be used as a money mule.

Your account stolen and used for financial identity theft.

Your name stolen and used for fraud.

Fraudsters can use your banking info to send stolen or scammed money into it, if your account is flagged, it will be freezed.

It can be used to sponsor terrorism activities, that one na big trouble you don enter.

Money laundering ko,

Ok relax, most of the things you mentioned, cannot be accomplished without some action from the account owner. There is very little a fraudster can do with your account number.

If proceeds from fraud is sent to your account, you could simply call your bank to have the money transferred to the initial destination

You mean I can't reach you even on nairaland if I want to?
Most definitely I can private chat you. And ordinarily you seeing 10m naira wired to your account right this moment by me, you'll be so shocked and confused that u will definitely want to get intouch with me even if I don't contact you.

No one can take ur money with just an account number, not even via BVN..

there's a exception tho..
Its only possible when done 1 or 2 staffs of a bank are involved, only then is it feasible..

If there are bankers in d house, dem know that software they use to debit/credit..

Well what do I know

like someone said, people who post their account number online are hungry people who are desperate to survive , but I do not think only account number is sufficient for the fraudster to move money into your account and then move it out without your consent , after all churches, mosques, NGOs and Co. do make their account details public .

however, I will say it's unwise to do so, because in a place like Mexico, cartel can move money to your account having monitored you very well, then kidnap you in attempt to get their money back.

also a criminal gang can send money to such accounts just to distract investigators when they are closing in on them , even with no intention of getting it back, its called shaking off tail.

Shake off one's tail comes from detective slang: to tail someone is to follow him (usually surreptitiously); the tail is the person who follows. To shake off the tail is to evade the follower.

but this time the criminal just want to use you to create confusion for investigators, just like armed robbers mentioning innocent people as their gang members , trust me in a place like Nigeria, it's not certain you'd be seeing your family in a long time by mere mentioned of your name in such case talkless of when money is sent to your bank account.

we need to be careful.

have you guys ever heard about money mule scam

The money mules are either involved in the scan, or where deceived . Either way, they were willing participants in the act. It did not occur without their knowledge.

There is usually a pre arrangement that they would receive money, and transfer it to another account.

As a smart person, if you receive money whose source you are not aware of, the smart thing to do is to call your bank and have the funds frozen. A fraudster will not randomly send money to any bank account

They tried diz shit with me once, e pain me die.. Money that was set aside for something urgent, dey debited the money,I have to go block mt Atm card, and they were unable to do shit again.. So i think, dey can't possibly debit someone without atm card details..

Exactly, See I can never near them again and I pray not to ever run out of cash again. Those people are Evil. I'm looking for ways to disassociate all my connections with them. This people can do and undo when a big money enters your account. I was automatically debited twice when I borrowed money from Fairmoney. All the Information they required was same thing with Kwikcash, But Kwikcash never Invade someone's Account....

Ehn Iffa hear...... Fair money loan will debit your account with just your BVN & ATM Card No, without your ATM Card PIN. No thanks to those Idiot Criminal PAYSTACK, They are the one helping those Loan guys to Penetrate Into someone's Account. Kwikcash are the only one I know who doesn't do this shiit.
Everything you just said here are LIES or you just made up some senseless theory. You lend money on fair money and other platforms but don’t read terms and conditions. Paystack has nothing to do with money lenders.

so what did i write down before, that a fraudster can use someone account for fraud and get the person arrested.

I read everything u hv said, u have no ideal how it works so just relax and listen to advice. If you send your account details online is very safe 100%.
But it will not be safe if the fraudster have your phone number because they can clone the number and use it but it’s not still easy my dear. At least the fraudster need your ATM Card details like your Card number, Security and Name. Or if the fraudster have your BVN and phone number. They will clone your number then use it to receive code and change some details.

If it's that easy. Bankers would be super rich from selling bank account numbers
