mekaboy:Do Nigeria government need 4 billion naira worth of ventilators? You stop being ignorant...If the government needs it, they will request but I'm sure we don't need to commit 4 billion naira just for ventilators....Get some sense |

mekaboy: Stop comparing the ventilator needs of UK and US to that of Nigeria at this minute. They never asked their indigenous companies to produce ventilators until their demands skyrocketed. Even those companies did not want to get involved because ventilators are normally not everyday equipments you produce steadily. But I absolutely agree Nigeria's health system is flawed and our hospitals are underequipped. We need more ventilators generally (even without the covid). Any business man that wants to venture into that can do so, and perhaps even sell it to countries that need it urgently. Innoson should see it as a business and if it sounds like a viable production should go ahead and not wait for any mobilisation fees from the government. Some portable ventilator prototypes have been done by some US universities and people are given access to them freely so they can build upon the design. It was made freely available as a humanitarian gesture during this pandemic 1 Like |

Design and making of a prototype are very much part of Production. Yes, production entails the manipulation of inputs to produce outputs; in the same vein, you should know that resources, intellectual, skills, money, time and material inputs are also committed into the design project. So, it is right to say that design is the opening phase of production. Innoson is a producer that deals more with assemblage of automotive constituents, partly because Nigeria has lil or near zero industrial capacity to supply the needed inputs for a wholly manufacture. But the fact that Innoson handles the peripheral aspects of production doesn't stop him from being addressed as a producer. The same logic should apply to a designer, I believe. Hyhundai operated for many years with Mitsubishi-designed Engines, but since the Former were identified with some processes of the production, both were regarded as producers to that end.
I agree with you in principle with a caveat. Design is part of production process but not part of production. Production itself involves input into a system that was designed, the system works on the inputs and brings out output. So if a product is still at design stage, you don't go and say we are producing. It's deceptive in all ramifications. Who goes about announcing design efforts by the way? BUK have never come out to say they are making ventilators. Bashir said it and I ask that he shows us the ventilators they produced.
|

mekaboy:That is not how these things work. We have established one fact he is in it for the money (Basis: he is rich enough to do it for free). And a businessman knows he has to prove he is able to do something to the buyer and that is where prototype comes in. A small scaled product available to undergo certification process with the relevant authorities. And no you don't know me..... I don't play tribal or religious cards.....sorry to disappoint 3 Likes 1 Share |

I see nothing wrong in Bashir's response. Innoson claims to have the capability to produce the ventilators but is yet to produce any.... What are they waiting for? The BUK guys were never prompted to produce any but took it up on their own to do so. We are not expecting anything tangible from them though. What I would expect from Innoson is to invite the BUK guys over and give them the much needed assistance (use of their factory line). I suspect Innoson is looking for a Chinese partner to sign up with for the knock down parts 2 Likes 1 Share |

PHIPEX:what are you saying, the said company said "he can produce " but he has not produced even a sample, do you want to joke with peoples money and life at the same time with unreliable ventilator? I don't understand. Is this the best time to encourage untested products with human lives? If he is sure he can produce ventilators, let him do so now, many more countries will need it of its reliable. Giving him money to produced ventilators in this crucial time to me, is gabling with lives and fund of this country 3 Likes 1 Share |

loswhite: It is ignorance that kills us faster than anything. Did America, Spain , italy have the same problems with china when they were facing coronavirus? Today, italy, spain and America have more casualties than china. So wait till Nigeria has 100,000 cases to make arrangements. Like they say, you fail to plan, you plan to fail. You are just like buhari that will budget billions for aso rock clinic, but not bother to put panadol. Simply because he can travel. What is happening today? Even more equipped and developed countries are overwhelmed by the virus and Nigeria with no capacity at all is waiting for 100,000 cases. What percentage of Nigerians have been tested for the virus? |

Do you really think the other automakers like Mercedes, GM and Ford that are being asked to manufacture it in their home countries are doing something new? Must you advertise your ignorance? |
Re: Bashir Ahmad's Response To Innoson On Ventilator Offer by mekaboy(m): 10:50am On Apr 04, 2020 |
MrPaul2: Dyson never produced ventilators before the UK contacted them to produce. They ordered 10,000 ventilators that will still be tested if they will meet the requirements. The world is running to china for ventilators. China works with innoson. Which is better, to join the cue in China and order a container for ventilators that might containe 20 pieces or the send a container containing parts for 200 ventilators and assembled by innoson? You guys dont have the slightest ideas of how these things work. 2 Likes |

mekaboy:The UK made a call for companies to help with the shortage of ventilators. Dyson and a host of companies took up the challenge. Dyson has announced theirs. Nigeria is yet to make that announcement. A businessman with foresight sees that there will be a need for that and he realises he can produce it. Emphasis on CAN. What he then needs to do is to produce a prototype and present to the government. Now while other firms are making prototypes and sending it for testing he is waiting for a largess. The truth is if there is ever a ventilator glut, he would have lost out big time 2 Likes 1 Share |
