Lock down does work if people adhere. And it's working.

Of course the best approach is test, isolate, trace contacts and treat. But if that window has been missed and contacts could now be tens of thousands, it becomes unfeasible. Lock down becomes crucial. Infection will still rise first and also deaths.

Issue is governments were worried about economic collapse if they ordered lock down early. A total lock down of just 2 months can easily wipe out between 5 and 10% from national GDP and create millions of unemployment. 22 million unemployment benefit applicants in America already due to lock down. In developed countries, high unemployment is like poison to politicians. They fear it big time. It's the panic that's making Trump trying to re-open. Because elections are coming up. If lock down were to persist till end of June, US economy won't recover enough before November election. Bad for Trump. He will rather risk some thousands of death and open the economy sooner. That's politics.

By the time lock down began in most countries, there were already many infected people not showing symptoms. And they had been spreading the virus all along. Among those infected were vulnerable people (even some healthy ones vulnerable for genetic or other yet unknown reasons) who over the following weeks got ill. Of which some died and still dying. There's always a lag between between lock down, infection and symptoms/illness/hospitalization.

Nigeria should not treat lock down with levity. Because the rise. It could have been 50 times worse by now and rising.

The scene at Abba Kyari funeral today is alarming. Abuja should brace itself if no action is taken.

I didn't say 5G is causing COVID-19, I said I will rather trust pastor Chris than trust this lying government. What did Pastor Chris say that I trust? He said they are currently laying 5G cables in Lagos and Abuja. The government said they have not granted 5G license to anyone. Then MTN said they have already successfully tested it in certain places in Nigeria. How could they have tested it without putting the infrastructure in place? So obviously the government is the one lying here, not Pastor Chris. The argument is not that 5G causes Coronavirus. The argument is that the 5G networks are killing people with their radioactivity. Is that a lie or is it true, has anyone scientifically proven either case to be true or false to lay the matter to rest? No! It's a new tech and it's too soon to determine the long term effects and how it affects different demographics of people because we are not the same, and what doesn't affect a Korean might affect a Nigerian and what doesn't affect a Nigerian might affect and Indian. Science is not always black and white, sometimes there are grey areas and the 5G network is a work in progress.

Sister you are right. I really do not understand why people are not considering saving their life. Even if its a hoax, protecting yourself is not dangerous, use mask, sanitizer, wash hands,but NO, they are not doing anything, roaming about saying its a hoax. Those that hve it in more affected place will tke it down to les affected States, and those people in less affected state will travel to highly affected state and bring it own to hi own community unknowingly... Just imaging the number of vehicles that travels to Lagos and Abuja daily.... My question is can thi Lockdown end in this two weeks?

NCDC should subtract the number of deaths& recoveries from the total cases and just give us the active cases. meanwhile, expect lower results cos of the weekend

Damn! When people were asked to stay at home and they refused, see where they are landing us. The consequences of this is not going to be funny. Firstly, this lock down is going to continue indefinitely cos no responsible government would allow people to continue going out with the infection rate steadily going up. If the lock down is canceled, expect to witness a geometric increase in the number of infections and deaths and this will not be funny. The situation would be worse than that of Italy and America.
