Only Canada,United Kingdom and Australia are still left open. The immigration door window is slowly being closed to Africans.

It seems you are unaware of the fact that the German route is also open and easy.

One would ask how? Its quite straightforward.

Apply to a Germany university ( Public universities are tuition-free). However, you need a block account(roughly 4.5m) Whether Bsc or MSC once you graduate, you can apply for residence permit which typically last 18 months, once you get a job you can apply for permanent residence. Live there for 8 years and you are eligible to apply for citizenship.

It is all about getting permanent residency after you graduate. That is the what concerns 99% of students that travel abroad.

Is it easy to get permanent residency in Germany after you graduate that is the question?Germany is still better than Netherlands that only gives you 12 months post graduate work permit.

Canada is denying more than 80% of Nigerian applications majority because of quota, lack of funds(many do arrange bank statement, borrow money), no convincing reason you actually want to go and study - some just want to use it to japa or do shady deals. Well we cant blame them sha

Which Canada? Nigerians that have 81% student visa rejection rate for Canada visa?

Which U.K.? You don hear person wey get pr in U.K. after studying? 90% leave the country after studies

Maybe Australia o

Or Ghana hahaha
Canada has various several straight forward requirements you have to fulfill to get a student visa. The rejections are likely because they think you will be in breach of your student visa. One of the conditions of the student visa is to not work more than 20 hours a week. They already know the trick of when Nigerians transfer money from their rich relatives to their account to meet the financial requirements and likely look into movements into the account for over a time period..

So, they likely require higher financial requirements, so people they grant student visas don't breach that conditions.

I came to Canada on a student visa and got PR after I obtained the work experience required.

Which year did you move to Canada?

Clearly not from 2018 because that’s when their rejection madness started. I’m not saying you can’t get PR, I’m saying that the study visa now it’s not very hard as compared to earlier years. People have millions than needed but still get denied so it’s not about money all times

If I may ask what might be the reason for such astronomical refusal rates?

Why are African countries mostly affected?

Millions that got transferred to their account from their rich relatives, which they transfer back when they get granted the student visa. They are aware of this and that is why the rejection rate is high.

They then go to Canada and work more than the 20 hours stipulated in the student visa per week, to pay their tuition, rent and other living expenses. Or engage if fraud to make up the amount. Nigerians have over the last couple of years made the news headlines for defrauding Canadian citizens and they were mostly students.

Of course Germany gives you 18 month post graduate work permit. Its a highly developed economy with one of the lowest unemployment rare in the world , jobs are abundant so you stand a very good chance of getting a job after graduating.

Exactly!7000 other Nigerians got student visa, just because you application got rejected does not mean the refusal rate is high. It just means you don't meet the requirements.
The question you should be asking is what did the other 7000 that got student visas do right?

I think student visas became harder to get when some Nigerians students started making headlines across the country for hundreds of thousands to million dollar scams. You get let into the a country as a guest to get world class education and you start scamming their citizens? It is still a puzzle to me the kind of mindset some people have.

Unfortunately the actions of a few will have an impact on the rest.

What's the way to go about it RuudVanNisteroy?

I started following the thread and became interested. As if you knew my plans.

I'm not desperate though, but wanna leave Nigeria. I'm a graduate and have few years working experience. What type of immigration visa would you advise for me?

I'm enjoying the justice other guys are doing to the thread as well. Please, Let's continue to make it civil!

PS: I don't have issues with any country abroad, especially the accommodating ones that speaks English language.
