I may not have an answer to your original question. But I do know that another fierce rivalry in England is Spurs and arsenal, Sol Campbell played for both. William Gallas and Seyi Adebayo also played for Spurs and Arsenal. Luis Figo did the unthinkable in Spain and left Barcelona to join R.Madrid.

Yeah North London rivalry is fierce but Merseyside rivalry is another level

Honestly, this is not enough to make such an argument. Circumstantially, they were brewed differently. Perhaps if Mikel had played for a comparably lower team like Genk when he was learning the trade perhaps he would have more goals to his name. Just maybe. He featured for lyn 6 times before he moved to Chelsea. Just wait. Let's see how he fairs as he moves up to better teams. Only time will tell. Besides Mikel is way closer to his actual age than Ndidi. . Just a note.
