His recent behaviour can also be attributed to his romantic affairs with Matilda, your chicken. He's just trying to impress her.

My dog finds it so easy to embarrass me before the world, as I said before in one of the thread here, she's now a full-blown lesbian, and I am currently looking for buyers.
Did I just read that your dog is lesbian?
Wondafu!!

I'm having same issue with my bull, he should be 8 or 9 months old now. Ever since he was 3 months bathing him has always been stress, he chews his wooden cage that we had to make a very strong iron cage for him. He's been too aggressive and I don't know what to do again, i just let him be in the cage, and feed him there. As he doesn't get out of the cage due to stubbornness he's nails are now sharp that before he baths he must have given marks all over my hand n legs. Sometimes he succeeds to slip out of my hand and first thing he does is to go fight with the quiet Rottweiler that's on chain or Scooby the bull mastiff. I just fear that one day even at his tender age he'll beat the hell out of his seniors. The other dogs are over 3 years.

your dog is bored . buy nail clipper for dogs and trim it . see you have a pit which can be a bomb or companion. you can't be locking up or chaining a dog up and expect it to be normal.... there are no bad dogs , only bad owners ....

I suggest you research more on how to have a furry baby if you can't buy a fish ...

Rottis are dominant but loving and protective dogs.

Trying to establish territory and dominance at that age is not unusual, but it must still have a master it respects. You're the one that feeds it everyday & that provision is a symbol of authority right there.

I sense that it may be stressed and not getting enough exercise. Get a leash and take it on a walk at least 3 times a week. The 2nd link I posted suggested not competing for dominance. I disagree. Don't shout the dog down when it is agitated; calm it down instead (perfect time for a doggy treat), but the Rotti must understand who is boss, and that is you.

We are using broom to establish dominance. That is the only thing he fears because he doesn't fear us again.

Dog Lovers, Please I Need Advise On My Rott's Naughty Behavior

I have a one and a half year old Rottweiler named Gift and I don't understand him anymore. We can't chastise him again when he misbehaves because he bares his teeth and growls menacingly at us if we try to spank him for being naughty. He welcomes us when we come home like any loyal, loving pet, but yesterday he shocked me. Usually as we are about to enter the house he playfully holds one foot down so we can't enter, or he jumps on you and hugs you tight so you can't move. When I got back from work yesterday I was exhausted and I didn't have energy for his play so I hugged him briefly but as I entered the house I mistakenly stepped on his right hindpaw.

He howled, left me, and lunged at me, this time to bite me. He actually narrowly missed my arm.

I was mad. I turned and yelled "Gift are you mad?" He bared his fangs and barked at me. Me sef I bared my teeth at him and ordered him to stand down. He growled, me sef I growled back. Do you know this dog kept advancing menacingly at me and barking? I quickly borrowed myself brain and locked the door. Werey dog.

I can't shoo Matilda, my chicken in his presence. He covers her with his body and warns me away. And now, the most perplexing thing is he now marking every where in the compound. My sib came visiting and before he entered the house, he quickly relieved himself outside because he was very pressed. Do you know Gift went to where the dude urinated and peed on top? It has gotten so bad now that Gift entered the house and marked different sections of the corridor and smaller dining area with pee.

Now, I don't know if this is classic Rott behavior or if he is just being indisciplined. I confess we spoilt him a bit because he is such a sweet animal when he is not misbehaving.

How do we discipline a dog that has grown wings? He is well socialised so it's not a case of too much isolation.

I hope you've injected the dog with anti rabies and you do so regularly bcuz I see this dog biting someone in the nearest future. Mind you, Rottweilers aren't pet dogs to the best of my knowledge. They're security dogs so I see no reason why you should have a rott living with you. This bread is known for high temperament and aggressiveness so am not surprised by your experience with it. Truth is this dog has outgrown any form discipline you want to imbibe in it. Just sell the dog and get another low temperament dog. Rottweilers can be extremely dangerous with children. Make your research OP

See Cesar Millan establishing his dominance over a stubborn dog here, my quarrel with his method is that he was not adequately protected and so took a nasty bite.

Many people are not dog lovers. They own dog for whatever reason. Even biological children are hard to train let alone a thing not from your genome.

Before you buy a breed take time to read about its specifically. The plus and minus for and against and how to handle. Don't just buy because others are buying.

That's said. Try and re.establish dominanece. That's is mentain a strong body posture. Stand erect and gaze. Animals read body language and weakness. Your energy may be unstable. And they dont follow weakness or instablilities.voice command need to be high pitch and strong.

Use meal time to your advantage. Hold his favourite treat and give him orders like "go to your cage". Make sure you starve him first He will obey then But do it strong and with authority. With the food lure pairING with a strong voice command, he is bound to comply. With time he may not be able to tell the two apart.

Also set boundaries. Don't let him roam everywhere. Drive him away from certain place as a way of showing who really owns the territory. Allowing him to roam freely has made him think he own the place. Don't forget he is just acting his instint as dominate breed.

E don dey turn digbolugi

That one na pitbull, e dey risky to leave that one to dey waka anyhow as OP take leave him rottweiler... if na pitbull, e for don bite OP teytey and their bite no be here.

Back to the topic, there was a time I trained a Caucasian dog, this dog is so spoilt to the point that it will back at you if you come to check without food, serve him meal without meat or fish, he urinate and poo anywhere and sometimes he will just turn his food upside down and waste it...
I decided to teach him a lesson. I left him for days without giving him food, until he couldn't back again, this is a dog that his barking is loud and travels far. It got to a point he started crying, for where I no send him (how person go hustle money, one animal go dey waste am), at a point all him ribs come dey show.
Last last, I pitied him and fed him, he became well-behaved and cultured dog, he started urinating and deficating in the corner that was designated for that. Whenever I or close by people come around, he will be shaking his tail but strangers dare not come close (that one na normal).

You can try that method, just that yours has grown to an adult already

Some guys are asking Ishilove to flog the rott into submission. I thought physical beating makes a dog timid? I don't really know much about dogs but I know that the rott might attack Ishilove in future because of accumulated anger due to physical abuse.

Weird seeing you outside romance section wink

Anyways you have 3 options

-Behavioural training
-Neutering
-Getting rid of him before he harms you.

You better make sure you are in charge of the dog because they understand and take advantage of your weakness. In my experience dogs rarely change their behaviour easily and it might take years for a dog to behave 'normally'.

For future reference make sure you get your dogs from a reputable breeder and be sure that the parents don't have any behavioural problems. A lot of dogs are bred irresponsibily in this country.

Can give you a dog expert's number too if interested if you're in lagos. If not, he could yet guide you on how to go about this issue.

I've sent you pm

I do hope you don't have children around that animal at the moment.
In the meantime, I'll advise you isolate the dog by getting him locked up in his kennel and allowed free for limited number of hours daily. And, get a good cane handy and let the dog know you have it DEDICATED for him. Limit its access to your living room till it matures
Re: My Rott's Naughty Behavior: I Need Advice Please by stagger: 2:58pm On Apr 25, 2020
You have been rewarding bad behaviour instead of correcting it.

Now you see the result. Marking the house with pee is a sign of territorial dominance only shown by alpha males. You should have smacked him the very day he did that. That way, he knows he cannot do that because he is not the alpha...the owner is.

An uncontrolled Rott is a dangerous animal. It is a matter of time before he attacks and seriously hurts someone. Then he will have to be put down.
