Oga; thank God for quarantine priod, get to know your dog better. Take a walk with the dog, show gift love, hope you don't have small children at home? Otherwise; it can attack them, make sure you are not giving the dog any (fresh)blood related food, you can change it's food to feed,so it will not go "gaga' mad. Rott are energetic dog, download some videos on rott to manage it's behavior. Don't forget to give anti rabies injection, to prevent any negative occurrence. Lastly; all dose not work kill it,am sorry to say that, but is better, that way. Than to kill you or somebody else, God forbid bad thing o. Make we forbid it also. Prevention is better than cure, my brother. If you know,Dem say: you know. Have a wonderful weekend joor.

Dog Lovers, Please I Need Advise On My Rott's Naughty Behavior

I have a one and a half year old Rottweiler named Gift and I don't understand him anymore. We can't chastise him again when he misbehaves because he bares his teeth and growls menacingly at us if we try to spank him for being naughty. He welcomes us when we come home like any loyal, loving pet, but yesterday he shocked me. Usually as we are about to enter the house he playfully holds one foot down so we can't enter, or he jumps on you and hugs you tight so you can't move. When I got back from work yesterday I was exhausted and I didn't have energy for his play so I hugged him briefly but as I entered the house I mistakenly stepped on his right hindpaw.

He howled, left me, and lunged at me, this time to bite me. He actually narrowly missed my arm.

I was mad. I turned and yelled "Gift are you mad?" He bared his fangs and barked at me. Me sef I bared my teeth at him and ordered him to stand down. He growled, me sef I growled back. Do you know this dog kept advancing menacingly at me and barking? I quickly borrowed myself brain and locked the door. Werey dog.

I can't shoo Matilda, my chicken in his presence. He covers her with his body and warns me away. And now, the most perplexing thing is he now marking every where in the compound. My sib came visiting and before he entered the house, he quickly relieved himself outside because he was very pressed. Do you know Gift went to where the dude urinated and peed on top? It has gotten so bad now that Gift entered the house and marked different sections of the corridor and smaller dining area with pee.

Now, I don't know if this is classic Rott behavior or if he is just being indisciplined. I confess we spoilt him a bit because he is such a sweet animal when he is not misbehaving.

How do we discipline a dog that has grown wings? He is well socialised so it's not a case of too much isolation.

It seems you cheated on him by calling another dog a good boy and he is trying to be territorial so you don't bring in another dog to come take his place.. He loves and cant stand sharing you.

Had a yorkshire terrier that sleeps in my room and one day an alsatian came to visit and all I saw was the yorkshire marking every corner in the house and even my leg to warn the other dog to stay away from me

Madam, your life is ar risk.
The minute that dog had the AUDACITY to pee on another humans pee shows he has no respect for you, that's the highest level of disrespect an animal can give to a fellow animal in the wild.
You better tame that beast or it'll possibly kill you one day.
This is no joke, rotts are very dangerous if not handled properly.

You have a point. I have another smaller dog of indeterminate breed. A cute small thing that looks like a ball of cotton wool with teeth.

I'm having same issue with my bull, he should be 8 or 9 months old now. Ever since he was 3 months bathing him has always been stress, he chews his wooden cage that we had to make a very strong iron cage for him. He's been too aggressive and I don't know what to do again, i just let him be in the cage, and feed him there. As he doesn't get out of the cage due to stubbornness he's nails are now sharp that before he baths he must have given marks all over my hand n legs. Sometimes he succeeds to slip out of my hand and first thing he does is to go fight with the quiet Rottweiler that's on chain or Scooby the bull mastiff. I just fear that one day even at his tender age he'll beat the hell out of his seniors. The other dogs are over 3 years.

Don't make the mistake of beating your Dog. it doesn't understand beating and it will only introduce fear to your dog . when a Dog is scared it will fearfully attack you .

don't listen to all this beat beat talks . if your 1.5 years old rott fearfully attacks you....... the damage go pass wetin anyone fit describe . for one it is a powerful breed . for now , your gift is the leader of the pack hence he is dominating everyone and marking his territory.

now you need to stop all the pampering you are doing . but if you can Google, there are alot of articles on what you need to do to break the behavior. but please don't hit the dog , if the chain go break lasan .. .

It is well with you guys.
God knows I can't keep a pet. I'm even scared to hold a life chicken ever since a mother hen poked me in the leg.

Animals will always be animals. I just pray you don't experience the other side (beastly) of it when all hell lets loose.

You seems to be stepping down every proven advice given to you here. @Gabrokpala001 and some others have said it all. Either you take or leave it. One thing I know is that this dog will surely do the unthinkable against you or your household one day if care is NOT taken cry

I have two giant Caucasian security dogs (M & F) and can vividly tell you about dogs character. I reared them from young. I equally researched about training dogs and that helped a lot. The secret is simple, maintain the 'Alpha' role. Don't take shit no matter how small. Chaining from puppy stage is good! Too much pampering is bad!!

When my Stud was around 1.5 years old, tried some funny character towards my son one time. Made sure I drove him into his cage and used the opportunity to hammer him from outside. Since then, his brain reset to natural factory mode. Anytime he sees my boy now the next is to start wagging his tail.

Let me tell you something you never have heard before: Dogs are like human beings and have a very matured brain, that is why they have a powerful sense of recognition and smell. If you disagree with them, they also know and learn to adjust. They know when you're scared and would want to capitalize on your weakness by putting you down.

Again, Rotts are usually not a good pet dog. I will advise you change him with another breed. To suggest, may be GSD pure breed.

he doesn't see you as the alpha
when a dog displays that kind of behavior towards his master, that's a huge problem
maybe you should look up videos on dealing with dogs with behavioral problems
unfortunately I don't know if there are dog whisperers in naija
personally I would get rid of the dog. I won't have a dog that does not see me as the leader.
