Every children at that level. That is the only way they can understand it better.
not all of them. They are not exposed to same things/situations etc. Eg A child that has a personal driver taking him to school will never understand any discussion about how children "lap" inside public vehicle. No matter how you want to explain it...

You will agree with me, it is not. It has always been the less developed cultures around the world/primitive man who has always seen this as the function of the head.
In this age and time, the head is used for thinking.

Most of you need not to criticise the author.

I have no doubt the author passed through TTC ( teachers training college) and they were trained to teach their students according to their (pupils) level of understanding which I still subscribe is best for the children comprehension.

Teaching and learning is a gradual process and every child should be thought according to his/her level of understanding and proceeds higher as the child mental ,physical and psychology capabilities increases.

Not these hungry &half baked authors that will be giving undergraduate,graduate, and thesis terminologies to pupils just to prove they went to school.

A person that have sence is a person that will think of taking that load on head.

phsycologically if you have a load over your head so you are the right one that can look your direction basically.

The author's after stating the above could then state that the head can also be used for carrying loads over a distance.
I believe you have a child or relatives...use that line to teach them about the head and tell me the result after you finish...

A lot of people here are trying so hard to sound woke while being hypocritical at it. Have you not at a point in time of your life used your head to carry load before - whether heavy or not. Now, what's wrong in telling a 6/7 years ago kid that they can use their head to do same?

Right here, you're saying Sense Organs is being taught in Primary 1.

Is that not part of basic science?


In another of your post, you also said you didn't know what the skull is in Primary 1, but here, you're claiming Primary 1 pupils don't have problem understanding what the brain is.
pay no attention to those unintelligent ones who thinks that education started from their time

All the problem a man has is loaded in the head. So , what are we talking about. The Author is right.
Head is for carrying load that the author used is a metaphorical expression. The audience he is teaching are children.

What are the functions of the head?

As an educationist, i dont see anythig wrong with this lesson. These things are used to teach children about practical life.
For example, we use our legs to walk
We use our eyes to see
We use our hands to touch take objects and so on. So what would you now say you do with the head if not to carry loads?

Free them abeg.

Answer my question o. Hehehhehehhe
As an educationist you should see everything wrong with it, carrying load on the head is one of the most dangerous things to do with the head and at that stage it should never be taught, because it is usually done in these part of the world doesn't make it right. There's a lot of things we have to correct about our education which will in turn bring about societal change. Teaching a child to use their head to carry loads at this stage is already damning their mentality.

The head is not really used to think. The kids have to get to a certain stage that know that the head can be used in the place of a brain.
