Exactly! that's the advise I have been given by UK residents, always check the modules, to ensure that the school is offering what you are actually interested in. For example, I was told of a lady who had nursing admission in northumbria but wanted something more in the line of mental health, so she went to Edinburgh instead. You need to think of why am I choosing this school? why this course? which area would I like to do my research on? which field would I like to work in afterwards? Biomedical Science is a good field and in the UK shortage list, so I believe it is a good choice for people with the relevant qualifications.

When I was selecting my school back in 2011, I only knew of RGU (as a warri person..) so I settled for it. On retrospect, I should have gone to Warwick or Salford because of the businesses in that area. I don't regret attending RGU but I wish I had known then the importance of this comparison. I wouldn't have restricted myself to just one option.

Thank you Ma for the above.

What can you say about doing MSc Project Management @RGU OR SALFORD. Which of these schools (cities) has a good prospect for the course?
Thanks a lot Ma.

How is she supposed to the know the bolded exactly? She didn’t study in Salford or perhaps project management.

Like someone said earlier, compare modules and know which one suits you better. Check their graduate employment rate. Read reviews on mastersportals.com. Check ranking for project management in both universities. Just research, no one can give you the accurate answer here.

All travellers arriving into the UK will face a mandatory 14-day quarantine

The government has revealed that it will now be enforcing a mandatory quarantine period for all travellers entering in the UK from abroad.
Passengers will be asked to go into quarantine for 14-days upon arrival regardless of where they have flown in from.

I understand.

Here’s (picture) the reason why I’m saying maybe they actually intended to offer that course for two years but CONVID19 don change plans and they’re yet to update the website because of lockdown etc.

The second year was supposed to be for placement right? Maybe no space to contain placement students & they’re trying to plan ahead to avoid congestion.

Still call the university sha and give us update wink

P:S- saw this on Facebook, no claims to it.
sonofakin:
Thanks. I thought about calling. Just felt the person I'll be connected to might not even have the right information.
Maybe I'll still call them. Consistency when it comes to issues like that should just be sacrosanct. Information is needed for adequate planning and when it is wrong,
it can ruin plans. Teesside have a lot of two-year programs that international students are eligible for.

No offence but with a 2:1, why Chester? Is it mainly the cost?

Yes mainly the cost, I think they are the cheapest offering biomedical science

Mr.Skymoor1004.

I have done all you mentioned above even more and have relevant informations.

However, can you compare all these information I have gathered about RGU or Salford from google, to someone that once attended RGU, in person?

I was only asking her because she has been there, live and direct not by
google.

All the same thanks for your reply. They're noted.

Try Ulster, Chester or Liverpool hope. I got my admission in Liverpool Hope and I am paying 7400 pounds after deductions and scholarship

mamacajah:

My sister, I understand with you but I would advise you not to give up hope. Take your time and check the different schools, call their nigeria reps office and get some more clarification. You do know that for UK, you need a minimum of 25k for international students (avg intl students rate is btw 12-15k, depending on the course..) engineering courses, like medicine and MBA are very expensive. so unless you want to change field, maybe you could find a course under 10k..but that's tutition only..maintenance is 9,200 outside london and 13k within london...so you still have a long way to go. I am not trying to be harsh or brutual here.. just stating the facts as it is.

It is well..not to derail the thread, but have you tried European countries that do not ask for tuition, only maintenance as an alternative? I believe that God will answer your heart desires, even in ways you never thought of. Fighting... smiley

We are saying same thing.
She only went to RGU and not Salford.
She can only provide info about RGU from her first hand experience. Also you don’t know if she did project management? How is she supposed to analyse that information for you?
Plus I am sure that a lot has changed since 2011 when she studied there.

Again, google is your best guide.

Providing information only about RGU, would be
fantastic! That is what I am asking her for!

Now can you compare the information I will get from her (eyewitness account) to Google?

I believe she can tell me what Google can't. I already know the information Google has.

@Mamacajah please I need your personal opinion about RGU maybe Salford too thanks.

I did Supply Chain Management, so even though I had brief interaction with PM students, I can't really say much about it. From the Living in UK thread, you can actually get more information on this..so check out it here : https://www.nairaland.com/4158866/living-uk-life-uk-immigrant

Salford is close to Manchester, the only thing I knew then was that Manchester was a construction industry area and I was looking for an oil and gas industry area (for personal reasons).. so I really can't say much about it as I have never been there nor knows someone there.

Aberdeen is a nice place, not as busy as London but it's slowly coming up now after the oil price slump, which affected most businesses and jobs there. I still have friends there, so I get some form of information.

Sorry that I couldn't be of much help..hope you get what you are looking for.

Yes I do.

I started a voluntary service a few months back.
So, Am I expected to write on my nursing experience to form the portfolio or what? Please what do I do?

Many thanks

A form will be sent to you in which you're required to fill in the duration you've worked, the job title, description and number of hours achieved.

You're expected to briefly outline the services rendered in each job.

You will see an example in the form to guide you through.

I hope this helps.

I got a conditional offer from them but the conditions are much. Their portfolio is quite simple, didn’t they send it in a form for you to fill with examples.. just follow the examples and fill in yours.

Cyberknight:

This isn't an easy one.
At this point only God knows what will occur in the next few months, especially whether there will be a second outbreak forcing another lockdown in the UK.

What we do know for now is that starting June all persons entering the UK will be required to quarantine for 2 weeks, universities are planning to run flexible sessions where they can move online as the situation may require, and the EU (and possibly the UK) considering requiring travelers from locations where covid 19 has not yet been contained to take (very unavailable in Nigeria) tests to prove they don't have the disease before being allowed entry.

We also know that the immigration health surcharge payable by all those coming on tier 4 visas will increase to 624 pounds from October. It is also likely that employment in the UK will take a while to recover even after the lockdown is lifted; definitely quite a few jobs especially in hospitality, tourism and aviation will not be returning soon, and the UK will probably have numbers of people seeking work over the next year or 2.

These are just some of the certain or likely fallouts from the pandemic. You can obviously suss out more for yourself that will help you in reaching a decision about when to start your course.
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by Hubbysluv: 8:49pm On May 10, 2020
The portfolio is basically to show how you achieve the 800 hours of work experience. As M.Sc. is a fast track one, 2 years course instead of normal 3 years nursing degree, they expect you to have experience both paid or voluntary in the health care or community services where you gain clinical experience. This will be use as Prior learning and cover the first year for you.

You answer the questions in the portfolio using your work experience as example.

Good morning my People. I have been following since day 1 and I wanted to be certain of things before I ask. I have been admitted to study "Biomedical Science" in "Chester University" and "Sheffield Hallam University". I am really tempted to go for Chester as they also offer top up courses to enable me write IBMS and get licensed. Now my questions.

1) Is That University a good one?

2) How is Chester in terms of student Job and life generally?

3) I have been asked to make a deposit of 3kp but I intend to make 6kp out of the total 9450p, How does this move help me?

4) Do I need a car, or should I just forget about it?

5) Can I do small buying and send down to Nigeria for sale?

6) Since it's my first time traveling, will I have issues with a virgin passport?

7) How Marketable is this course in UK?.

Please I have some other questions as I intend to start paying school fees this week, but kindly put me through on this ones first. Thanks all the gurus in the house. I am expecting your responses.

Cc Justwise, etc.

Best Regards

1. I really don't know much about the university, i don't want to give you an uninformed review of the university

2. You don't really struggle with student jobs in any town that has an university and you also have Amazon FC there.

3. If you can pay, you are going to pay all during the orientation anyway.

4. Only buy a car if (a) you don't look at price tag (b) That car will be bringing in money..i don't mean driving to work or school. (c) when the cost of public transport is higher than the cost of buying and maintaining the car.

5.As a foreign student you are not allowed to engage in any form of business...are there foreign students that engaged in business? Undoubtedly yes but its against your student visa rule , so do it at your own peril

6. No

7. No course is unmarketable
