Me for instance, my business took a hit last year because I supplied TV's worth millions on credit to a client. Cheques bounced, the toll on my businesscapital was massive. Till date I'm still owed, and I haven't totally recovered from that hit.

First job I ever got paid for was painting apprentice. After secondary school wey man no get admission in time due to jamb and post jamb issues, man thought of getting something to do while seeking admission. First I started as an aluminum apprentice with one of my uncles. Most of the time there’s usually no work and we just sit all day till evening, I got tired and stopped going after some time. Shortly after one bros for area then that’s a painter called me and asked if I’ll like to go on painting jobs with him that I can learn and earn some stipends. I agreed, the first job I did with him was to paint one first bank branch at apapa or there about. The job wasn’t a big one though, we were to paint just the gate and fence. At the end of the day I got paid 500 naira. Man was happy, at least that’s my first ever wage. The money sef I later dashed it out to someone, no be say na big boy I do o, the person actually needed it and I just gave it out. I went on a second job with him, the job was 2-3 days we slept over at the site, that was a big job, painting a whole duplex I think at magodo. At the end of the 3 days I got paid 1,500 naira. Man wasn’t so happy cos I expected like 3k, but e no matter. We went on a few more jobs until i found another job as a waiter. Those kind of waiters that serve at parties. The first job was 1,200 pay after some hours of work plus nice food. I was so happy, 1,200 in one day.

I did that job for about 2-3 years going to different places and learning some culinary skills alongside. I had to quote the job when I gained admission and never looked back to doing it again.

While in school I did some businesses just to make some money for myself cos I’ve been a very independent person, must be due to the fact I spent 6 years in boarding school.

Now we thank God for where we are, when I look back at the meager amount I earned then compared to what I earn now and my expenses I just smile.

Still growing though. We’re not there yet but we’re grateful.

Bro I understand this feeling kpa.

I grew up in Festac when Festac was still Festac. I lived with my aunt then, attended a private school and all that.

I never knew hardship all my life until my aunt died.

I had to go live with my Father who was not really financially buoyant and had 4 kids already excluding me. When I got to my Fathers house, I began to understand that life is not rosy at all.

Popsy worked in a Factory and could barely take care of us.

When I finished secondary school, the next option was to go look for a Job.

The first job I did was a motor boy for a pure water company. My job was to load the truck with bags of pure water, go with the driver to customers shops and offload the pure water.

The craziest day of my life was when my secondary school colleagues were doing the usual SS3 graduation. My school ordered for pure water from the company I worked for.

I was to go deliver the pure water with the driver. The funniest part, I was wearing my school trouser because I barely had clothes to wear.

Omo, I told the driver to go that he would collect my salary for that day. I could not bare the shame.

After working at that company for two months, I left because the salary was little. I went to try bricklaying.

Bricklaying was the trend in my area then.

The first bricklaying job I did, everyone laughed at me. The way I held the shovel sef was funny. We worked for a while the cement finished, the man in charge told me and my friend to go carry cement from a far distance.

There was no wheelbarrow so me and my friend had to carry the cement on our head, I carried one bag of cement, my friend carried two bags.

See ba, after work that day, they paid me 1,500. I used 1,000 Naira to treat myself. I swore never to go back.

When I seat down and imagine my life. I can't help but thank God.

Your life will change and become better and better. It’s a phase. God is just testing you and your consistency. When it’s time for you to blow scatter you will blow scatter. Now I want you to please do me a favor. If you can please and please create a thread to encourage people , when everything eventually gets better. That’s all I want from you. When everything becomes rosy for you again , create a thread to document your struggles. Somebody might become blessed and inspired from the story God bless you sir

Sir,
U are going to learn a lot if things.
I have done many menial jobs.
From.store keeper to holiday teacher (taught maths and chemistry when UI was on strike) and after I lost a well paying job about 9yrs ago.
You have to think of doing something.
Infact the business I started, it was my wife producing many items.
I just looked at it carefully and decided to major in only one product which I believe I can sell and from there things got better.
Pray,
Plan
Push and
Pray.
