I don't subscribe to that school of thought. In a formal employment, employers bear most (not all) of the risks.

If the students are not paying now, what about the huge amounts they paid previously out of which you gave out peanuts as salary?

Salary and compensations should be structured in a way that teachers can get paid even on holidays. Teaching job is not an informal employment.

May your days be long. Tell dem mofos.

those shouting private lesson, tell me who will hire a tutor for his child when he or she is struggling to feed at this point in time. I once teach in private schools, it is almost the worst thing to happen to a human being, pay wise; its total rubbish the only solace is the recognition from the students each time you move around neighbourhood.

Na so. Dem be shouting "Uncle"!
You be feeling good and responsible but las las the hunger wey dey sama you gat no joy.

In my area here in Lagos.

Don't tell me the name of the school but please how much do they pay entry graduates?

I ask because there's this understanding that the big players in the industry are worth it.

I am sure the school is about 20 years or more and the owners have built enough reserves, or the owners have other sources of income. No matter the size of the reserves built my a school, the reserves can usually last maximum of 4 months.

Just pray that this lockdown does not last till September as some people have projected.

Some schools collect school fees in millions per child and pay teachers #70 000. Such schools if the proprietor isn't greedy can afford to pay staff for 2 years without blinking.

My Boss managed to pay half salary in April and told us she won't pay may

At least she communicated and I doubt she will tell you to carry out online tutorial.

Some just take their staff for granted. No pay with online tutorial.

They won't tell you that they won't pay you but seeing April pass and May almost gone without salary.
You go know nah.

Not all private schools are the same. We run a school where we paid half salary for April and intend paying half for May. Take note, we are just three years old

God will help all of you, I have quit teaching since because I always ask myself that is it teaching 25k I will use to feed myself and my Kid even after I marry?

It's the same thing with #30 000 self.

I feel like crying sometimes.

It's like eating from hand to mouth.

They feel like they are paying you big and you should be rich but apart from food and transport.

That money gat no savings unless you want to be malnourished or wear torn trousers and worn out shoes.

Some days you need milk and malt as energy has been sapped!

Everyone is blaming school owners but none has ever looked out with the eyes of school owner. Don't let us forget that school generates their income from fees that parents made and this cover for overheads, staff salaries and others. Since their is no sessions and nobody is paying they can't pay any staff.. Cos where will the money comes from.

Shut up! I am tired of hearing this lousy line.

If I calculate fees proprietors make per term, you will SHOUT!

Even money made on books is enough to pay teachers for 3 months.

Highest private school pay is 15k 25k last 30k....with your degree result NCE,Diploma,HND....my Elder sister recieves 8k with her good NCE result..While me i started recieving 15k nd presently recieving 18k with my good degree certificate....
You will work tiredless educating this student but they dont appreciate no even additional stipends sef...they even deducts from your salary....During holidays they hardly pay..
I cant wait to leave private school job..what i need now is a skill or even startup a business before getting a better job
Seriously Private school is modern slavery only the proprietress wants to get everything without considering the teachers.

If after this coronavirus, a normal human being didn't do everything to exit private school teaching, then the person is destined for suffering.

Private school owner should be classified as slave driver, with no mercy.

Even without coronavirus, they owe, with this, this is the perfect opportunity to become boss debtor.

He was generalizing that's the issue. Our revenue ain't even up to a quarter of that amount here in a community were we beg parents to pay fees and some even run away after learning. Yet my Dad doesn't owe any of his teacher....after paying we have peanuts as left over

Change your payment structure: anybody that doesn't pay 1 month into resumption should leave.

At least you made it clear to them and I believe you didn't engage them in online tutorial for your pupils.

How do you reason a proprietor not paying and still asking teachers to engage in online tutorial as well as come to school 3 times in a week!

One thing is CLEAR, private schools get levels: some are mushroom schools, some have money but greedy proprietors while some are big players and very considerate. They engage their teachers to take pupils on online tutorial and pay full salary. Coro gat nothing on them. These are the ones mushroom schools are trying to mimick but very soon the cocks will come home to roast.

Las las you sack them and they show you middle finger and once Coro blows off, they find responsible schools.

No time for nonsense!

True. Levels dey.
We can't do online classes in my schools because many don't have the means (phone, laptop, Internet). Either something for all or nothing for all.

there is enough money in running a school, it is one of the best investment if you have the time and resources

i have a friend that is a school proprietor and also teaches, he said he makes profit of about ten million every term after staff salaries and every expenses

he built his duplex within six months and drives a car of about three million, and he doesn't have any other bussiness.

modified: he makes more money during external exams

We are aware. Let an idiot come and defend them.

No matter how Broke People Are, They’ll Still Use Toothpaste and Bathing Soap. Why Not Use these to Activate Your Longrich Account?

DM me to get started.

I am a private school teacher but I had a side hustle and it is helping me though we were paid half salary for april and will be paid half this month. After this month, nothing till school resumes.

You think you are doing them? Na God go punish you, laughing at their predicament.

It means you won't pay if they worked 3 weeks only and went on break. In fact nothing for Christmas vacation.

They now know you now as a slave driver.

Black man is worse than European masters.
