obowunmi:Thank you Sir. Do you have a reason why you emphasised on getting married before migrating because I am not in a relationship presently? I also do not think I can get married that soon before leaving. |

Brightgem:The bitter truth is that for except for some specialised agencies of government, the core civil service creates room for dearth of career, complacency and mediocrity. The problem with switching to MNCs or private organisations is that my current work experience is in conflict with my discipline. There is so much redundancy in the civil service and sometimes, no clear job description. I will consider your submission too ma'am. Thank you. 1 Like |

jaxxy:Thank you very much. Coincidentally, I was chatting with my MSc supervisor last week, a PhD holder with over 7 years post-phD experience. He is also planning to relocate to Canada. We have been working together in the past weeks to submit a couple of research work for publications in international journals as a way of boosting our academic profiles. I can relate with what you have said. Thank you very much 1 Like |

For me the guys choice should be easy to make , that is to move to Canada, he's still quite young. I'm also. In d same dilemma unfortunately I'll be 40 this year work a federal establishment . Annual salary after tax over 12m . It's a ministry that will continue to exist as long as nigeria exists so job security is 100% even if d country is shut down for 6 months d ministry where I work will continue to pay complete salary without shaking. But I'm fed up with nigeria , u wake up and here how people still billions and u know perfectly well they won't be prosecuted, u hear how poor villagers are massacred in their sleep and u know perfectly well that no one will ever be prosecuted for the killings, you see nepotism in high places and u know that it will never end in nigeria. As we draw closer to 2023 again d whole country will be set on edge again over which region d president should come from. The cycle of uncertainty just continues. But the thought of starting all over again in canada can still be scary. So a lot of us are in the guys shoes. My prayer is that God continued to direct our steps.Amen. Thanks for the insightful post. |

Xclusiveme:This so so funny. If I was earning up to 50 or 60% of your current pay, I may not have considered migrating at all.....but then, the stories my siblings always tell me about free education for the kids till are set to enter the university, welfare for the kids till they reach 18 years, free health care, great social amenities, multicultural diversity, diverse job opportunities, ability to easily pursue new careers, preference for merit etc are some of the reasons I find the offer really enticing. |

If you know me, you would know that I'm not the type that shows off. I'm one introverted private individual. I have just one friend in my neighborhood. I work from home and I keep my business to myself. None of my neighbors know about my business. During the lockdown, we had a serious power outage, so I bought a bigger Gen that can carry my fridge — it's fully stocked for the lockdown. They started questioning my source of income, gossiping and spreading false rumour about me I decided to make my business public by using my Upwork profile on my WhatsApp DP. They went and dug out how much I'm making, and since then, their bitterness knows no bounds (even +60 years old men among them) — Imagine calling Upwork fraud! None of them even considers the hard work it took to build a Top-rated status; all they look at is the earning, which, to them, means a lot but, to me, is very small that I can't even think of marriage with the income level. |

Oluwaseyi00:I just marvel at how people who have never been in the civil service will come and tag others liar. What will I gain from reducing my salary? Shouldn't I even be ashamed of my salary as a MSc holder and a senior level civil servant? |

alekside:A federal parastatal using the CONSOLIDATED PUBLIC SERVICE SALARY STRUCTURE (CONPSS). We have cried severally to our management to approach the NSIWC for a new salary structure but to no avail. My organisation is even a revenue generating one to make matters even worse. But corruption at the management level is impeding her growth. |

The best option is to come to Canada bro.Trust me.It’s way better And SAFER.I’m 18 and working part time while an undergrad student and I’m still making more than many Nigerian graduates.Less toxic environment and better pay. Let’s Do Math:Let us assume you come to Ontario Or Ottawa(two provinces) and work 80 hours weekly while earning $16/hour(Be it a dishwasher or receptionist),that adds up to about 4000 (AFTER TAXES) a month .Average rent in these two areas is about 700,averge grocery expense is 300, transport is another 150.Miscellaneous(FLEXING) is 350.That means you still and should have at least 2500 monthly savings.Convert that and that’s about 9.5 million savings annually. You fit send your mama something. And trust me,it gets better as you gain experience. Now,it’s very important to make friends (both white and black) as you will save and gain a lot from them. Some will be driving you around, you will eat from some and this consequently saves you money. Infact bro,if you get chick(all these white Hot chicks),they will even cook and buy you gifts. You may even save rent money.Trust me,they crave big black dick. Some weird things you will see(putting dog in front seat and attaching dresses to them) but it’s good lol.Occasionally, you may experience indirect racism but not often. Run to Canada bro.Even if it means leaving your family. It will bear fruits. 1 Like |
