The mistake u made was adding up the div and bonus before deducting from the equity price. U need to 1st deduct the div from price before running the result over the bonus ratio.
So u are among those who jump off the window when maths lesson are thought back in school days. wink cheesy grin

I believe the intent is to find out what would be the equity price of JULIUS BERGER on mark down date.
...a brief;
Where a coy declares a bonus plus dividend, simply use this formula to compute the mark down price;
Mark down price(Mp)= [(Pbm-Dd) X Br(Br+1)]
Where only a bonus was declared, use the formula Mp= Pbm[Br(Br+1)], and if its only a divided, simply use
Mp= Pbm--Dd.
...Where Pbm is the equity Price before mark down, Br is the Bonus ratio while Dd is the Dividend declared.

With the JB example, the coy closed on Friday @ N27.2, and if we assume that Wednesday is the mark down date, then using the formula above, Mark down price Mp= [27.2-2[1/5(1/5+1)]= 25.2x5/6= N21
Therefore on a N2 div and 1 for 5 bonus issue, mark down price @ N27.2/share of JB= N21
So @ rebakah was correct !!

For emphasis, just substitute the price of JB on qualification date or previous mkt closing price before markdown(Pbm) in the formula to get the Mark down price.
A N32 price on the qualification date should give a N25 price after mark down.

For details of how the formula was derived, refer to the link from my past post below for clues.

In engineering, when you design an equipment, the next stage should be the line of processes that you will use to mass produce the design. Because delaying in producing/replicating the idea or equipment will lead to increased demand, sought for alternatives, financial loss etc

When you design a financial tool/model, your next step should be how to easily calculate parameters for a whole range of stocks and instruments. VAP is cumbersome. I have mimicked it before when we argued last year.

Now I want you to list any stock on any exchange globally, give me the ticker symbol and tell me the time frame you want. I will try to forecast the possible price it could get using advanced pattern recognition.Once you do this, my reply to your question will be in less than 5 mins. grin grin

[quote author=stcool post=89952529]Good day all, please I need info for a friend.

A friend wants an investment that can guarantee 10% - 15% per annum.

He is an Igbo businessman and used to invest in treasury bills hence he is looking for another investment opportunity.

He does not want to do fixed deposit due to low rates, No stock market.

*Initial investment N20M

Anyone knows any good investment/assets management company that can deliver. Preferably an investment house may be bank/ insurance subsidiary etc that can pay a return of 10 - 15 % per annum.

Thanks
cc: Oracle, Pa Emma, CoolCash, Loco, etc.

Kindly help. [/quote

I will suggest 30% of capital in VGIF with Gurranteed 8.5% interst and extra 35% of funds profit, 30% in Zenith Bank shares and 40% sukuk bond
Incase any business show up he can quickly cash out of VGIF without penalty since interest is earned daily and paid twice a year, though Zenith is equity, dividend is sure since 2004. Sukuk 11.2% is double sure for Seven years.

RabbiDoracle:

Ok.

Let me forecast mine.

I have done that of bitcoin.

Once Zenith breaks 18.50 resistance in June 2020, it should do 2 things :

(1)heads straight to 21.50 and and Bounce backwards to 19

(2) trades sideways at 18+ for some weeks before it fires off again.

The first target is 21. I believe it can do 21 between now and July 2020.
At 21, Zenith goes to canteen in Lokoja to eat Nkwobi and Isi-ewu and flush it down with 3 bottles of Big stout to prepare for the journey ahead grin

This is more like it... good one bro !!

I remember advising a colleague to buy into BTC @ $6,370. He refused to buy saying it was a bit too expensive then... but later went back to buy @ above $10,020 without notifying me. Weeks later, he dashed to my office bunk, shivering with fear after it went down to $8,900. I could feel his heatbeat pulsating really fast.
...dude was in sky high panic mode. wink cheesy grin
I had to advise him to take a chill pill and relax because it would still rise back above his entry peg.
...my projection is a near $14,730 price.
The Fed does not want BTC to gain prominence but folks are massively taking position given the immense liquidity brought about by this pandemic. ...people are seeing it as another good store of value.
Technically, the asset recently made a golden cross.

It's a good place to be. But then again, I love them those coys in this ur post !! wink cheesy grin

Where a coy declares a bonus plus dividend, simply use this formula to compute the mark down price;

Mp=Pbm- Dd.
...Where Pbm is the mark down price, Br is the Bonus ratio while Dd is the Dividend declared.

So in this case, we'll use the 1st formula(Mp= Pbm- [Pbm[Br/(Br+1) + Dd])

With the JB example, the coy closed on Friday @ N27.2, and if we assume that Wednesday is the mark down date, Pbm= 27.2, Br= 1/5 while Dd= 2.
...and using the formula above, Mark down price Mp= 27.2- [27.2[1/5÷(1/5+1)] +2]= 27.2 - [27.2(1/5÷6/5)] + 2]= 27.2 - 27.2[(1/5×5/6) +2]... which simplifies as 27.2 - [(~4.5) +2]= N20.7(rounded off)
So on a N2 div and 1 for 5 bonus issue, mark down price @ N27.2/share of JB will be approx 20.7(and not N21)

For emphasis, just substitute the closing price of the said stock(ie JB) on the qualification date or previous mkt closing price before markdown(Pbm) in the formula above to get the Mark down price !!
For clarity, a N30 closing price on the qualification/pre mark down date should give a N23 price after mark down.
...anyone who sees confusion in the mix can do a check by inputting any figure using the new modified formula.

For details of how the formula was derived, refer to my past post above for clues.

You are a very smart dude. The problem with certain folks is that they live in a delusion which beclouds their reasoning to think that everyone else is dumb [might even be rightly so as most people these days just leap without first investigating].

Notice how such people now resort to total falsehood
or silly remarks when their effort to deceive falls apart. My brother I'd advice you save your efforts to analyze the markets to profitability. You're on a dead horse beating venture.
Although if you're patient enough, you'd get a response within the timeframes of the next 2 olympic games. Cheers. smiley next

Firstly, no timeframe indicated for the decline on your post made in August 2019.

Secondly, during the fall around August - September 2019, FBN reached a low of 4.35 on 6th September 2019. From there it headed straight to 7.85 and tested 7.70. VAP didn't see this reversal.

Now I pose a question : Will FBN still hit 3.35 you stated above? And will UBA still hit 3.14 you stated above?

I think these two will be OK for us to apply a predictive tool on. grin

Govt cannot default on Naira denominated instruments. They will simply print more money. Default can be on the Foreign currency instruments like Eurobond, as they have no control over those currencies (they need to earn it as against printing it).

I believe the intent is to find out what would be the equity price of JULIUS BERGER on mark down date.
...a brief;
Where a coy declares a bonus plus dividend, simply use this formula to compute the mark down price;

Mp=Pbm- Dd.
...Where Pbm is the mark down price, Br is the Bonus ratio while Dd is the Dividend declared.

No the correct formula I deduced is; Mark down price(Mp)= Pbm- [Pbm[Br/(Br+1) + Dd] and not the one u mentioned.
Note how the brackets was put out so u'll know how to compute with the symbols to arrive at the correct answer.
U can see how I deduced the formula from my initial post that was edited. ...one small, see the edited post above.

And yes I initially did align with @ rebakah' N21 estimate but that's because I made a typo error even though I used the formula above.
So am sorry, but @ rebakah' estimate is also wrong.
The correct answer is N20.7 if we assume a N27.2 equity price for JULIUS BERGER before mark down given the N2 dividend and 1 for 5 bonus declaration.
Like I said before; Anyone who sees confusion in the mix can do a check by inputting any figure using the formula.

Printing money as logical as it may sound comes with grievous economic and financial implications for the government. It simply gives government security bad rating,causes panic, and discourages investors to hold such investment. The other implications that come with QE for such an unproductive and debilitating economy like ours will further send it into comatose and possibly nail it to the coffin.
