I will be hear next season wen attackers start tearing into there almighty Van dijk.....I kept telling pple the prowess of a defender is in a dependant on the team in which his playing.....forget it the Liverpool team is compact....every player in that first team asides there front 3 is tough and a marker ....they close every space fast en that's y u will rarely see "van" get exposes....the only stand out thing I see in him is his leadership and ability coordinate the defence....put van djik in an arsenal or city team and u will see him torn apart anyhow game after game...that's one of the reason I respect Ramos....although I ain't a Madrid fan....he plays in a team that plays free flowing football with less defensive team mates and he still cleans shit up here and there and even gets red card for his team ...van djik isn't close to this class of defendees

no defender could ever stop drogba from hitting the back of the net ask puyol, pique, but sketel of Liverpool gave drogba a very tough time but he later collect.

Drogba, Costa, Argen Reuben will make akamu out of vidic. Liverpool is riding on their profilic attack. When they meet attackers too, they bow. We saw how referee came to their rescue against chelsea. How manu nearly butchered them.

Van dijk is not overrated... This guy changed a defence that was leaking goals seriously... I can't say he's better than the likes of vidic, puyol,Ramos,chiellini, pique because they played at the top level for years... If vvd can keep this momentum he will be be up there with the best... Any team right now would take vvd in their defence...

It has everything to do with price, ever heard of demand and supply? When you have more, you pay less and vice versa. During the Maradona era, we had numerous world class players and his price tag was 1.2 billion pesetas which was an okay fee.

Van dijk is definitely not in the class of Jack Stam, Nesta, Maldini and co. But he is definitely one of the most intelligent defenders ever. Liverpool's game against Tottenham comes to mind, when he confused Sissoko and made him not score.
