Pls there is this question bothering me for some times now. It has become a constant headache during and after every interview.
Pls my Dear Honourable members in Nairaland, Is gap teeth in anyway an excuse interviewers use to disqualify people from any job, Most especially on banking jobs?

I have attended several interviews where I am convinced that i tried during the interview but unfortunately ended up not being shortlisted. I am beginning to think that my gap teeth might be a hindrance to all of my dream jobs...

Recent I applied for a Banking job, Service Executive to be specific where I got shortlisted for Aptitude test for three times. Latter on after some days i received an invite that i have been shortlisted for Virtual interview which was last week. Early this week I took part in the interview were i was told they will get back to me through mail.

Today i just got a reply that my experience, profile and presentation were remarkable but However, they regret to inform me that I was not recommended at the end of the interview session.

Without been told I already knew My open teeth is behind this again.
Pls help me out on this, if i should stop wasting my time, energy and money applying for jobs. Honestly I'm beginning to get depressed of all the emotional trauma.

The question is Should i stop applying for jobs like banks? Do I still have hope? How will I start imagine things when My age exceed their limit, knowing fully well that banks has limited age range.

Pls help a brother before depression will weigh me down. Below is the screenshot of the message i got from the recruiters and my gap teeth cry cry cry
I am more concerned about your facial hair. I hope you know most banks dont allow keeping facial hair? shave it off, be completely clean shaven and please have some self confidence. You can be the most intelligent person in this world but if you lack self confidence to put your best foot forward, you will continue to be passed over.

Bank will reject a strikingly good looking lady who is well spoken and brilliant, all because of gap teeth... Say wetin happen??! The gap in the upper front dentition would easily clinch the job for her ni!!! tongue

They are probably not interested in your gender... A beautiful chick probably pushed you out... Probably with the same gap teeth you also have.

No need for depression, most banks pick the most attractive for customer care positions, especially young ladies... Keep at it. All good things come to those who wait and hustle harder.

Actually, I think you should get a recruiter friend to profile you through all presentations- CV, looks, aptitude, behavioural, etc. If he or she doesn't see anything other than the gap teeth at fault, then fix it. Govt hospitals offer good dentist service.

Honestly, if its a choice of first among equals...that lower part of your teeth could really distract people from you.

Don't let people deceive you.

If the job is going to be a client-facing role then looks matter a lot and your gap tooth could be a major hindrance in getting the job!

Your not getting a job has nothing to do with your gap tooth, you need to understand that the competition in the labor market is really high, you along side 100's of people will most likely do very well in an aptitude test or interview, but the organisation is looking for 30 candidates. when it comes to shortlisting a candidate organisations start looking for the extra in successful candidates, a second skill, higher certification, extra education, emotional intelligence, innovative capabilities etc. These days things change pretty fast and organisations have to adapt to these changes, the extra is what guarantee their survival. My advice to you will be don't be just what an organisation needs, be what they need and be the extra they need.

It can't be your gap teeth my dear, my dear brother, I must tell you the truth, in physical interview, we look out for your communication skill, your mannerisms, your style of responding to questions, your visual focusing, your etc, so let your close friends tell you what your problems are and try work on it, I pray that God will favour you soon and those that rejected you yesterday shall beg you tomorrow

A teeth gap is neither a criteria for short listing nor for employment. Do not make banking your only focus also try other establishments too to create more chances for yourself. Meanwhile you may need to reassess your performance at the interview and discuss with a buddy or other experienced person to advise you further.

Also not forget, depending on the bank, the NAIJA factor cannot be ruled out. Have faith and pray, success awaits you.

This is your problem in this particular case. Although, it may not be applicable in all the jobs, some of these low income jobs are usually easy to get once you have passed Aptitude Test. You needed to have contacted any of the top employees in any branch around you to help you speak to another big Oga. You would have been employed.

The good news is that it is not late yet to explore that means.

Bro, it has nothing to do with your 'gap-teeth' at all. And don't also believe 'it is the Nigerian factor'.
All you may need may just be to up your game and you'll be fine.

btw, somebody asked, 'are you sure it's not your grammar'? Maybe, you need to 'Behind-up'.

Bros. Your gap teeth has nothing to do with your success or being given an employment in any interview. In fact there is a staff on wheelchair where I work.
If they need your services , they will employ you.
I think other candidates are being lucky than yourself this time or having strong recommendation than yourself.

Don't loose hope.
